Liverpool v Leicester City Match Thread

It's not Tinto, because there were covering defenders and he was miles from goal, it was the right decision. It's not really a clear chance and I reckon the ref probably rightly took the conditions into consideration too, certainly prior to actually seeing the infringement, he's probably given Maguire the benefit of the doubt that it's slippy and those sort of challenges are likely to happen.

There were no covering defenders. The only argument against a red is the direction of the ball.

But for a player of Mane's pace, that's a good chance.

But do you have to factor in pace and all that? Mane's fast as fuck, but if it had been Firmino, he'd have been caught. So I dunno

Yeah, but he'd cost 50m at least

Only 50? I'd say sign. No way we should pass up on that - look at how helpful it has been for Spurs to have 3 top quality CBs.
I think that, and another goalscorer to challenge the front 3 and the team is dynamite.
I'd actually love if we took Bayern's top 2 targets (Odoi & Werner).

Yeah I was going to say if it was Firmino, it wouldn't have been such a good chance.

Still, in tonight's game, it was a good chance. Don't think Leicester would be complaining if Maguire had been sent off.

The decisions certainly didnt go in our favour tonight. It was obvious we wouldnt get a penalty after all the diving talk with Salah.

The 7 seconds added for the sub as well, mind blowingly stupid.

But, we can only blame ourselves. We looked off the pace with the 10 day break.

My negative thoughts are whilst 5 points is better than 4, we can still only afford to drop points in two matches, which is the same as before tonight's match.

This is assuming City are perfect for the rest of the season of course.

Just read this match thread in its entirety after the game. Christ, we really seem to have a certain segment of posters really looking to stick the knife into Kieta's career don't we? Kieta, who could have won a pen is oddly mocked at times throughout the thread. He was even mocked for the penalty incident. How odd.

Loads of our players played below their usual standard tonight and Leicester were solid if unspectacular themselves.

Doesn't feel like we've gained a point on City this week although we have. Onto the next game I suppose.

We can afford a loss and a draw over City now, realistically we couldn't before, marginal gains sure, but gains non the less.

Im 50/50 on the red card decision. Its frustrating that the player in question went onto score for them. Mane is getting to the ball. The keeper has to make a decision then. Any striker is getting in there and getting at least a shot off at the keeper. Suprised Michael Owen is using the angle as a reason to suggest yellow card was correct decision. He was known for running over the top and bending those chances over the keeper.

The Keita bashing in this thread is very weird. Not surprised in regards to the posters though.

Not sure we can afford a loss and a draw because in such a case we'll have the same number of points, and it will depend on goal difference.

I hope Spurs pass out City and it's between us and Spurs. They might do a Spurs on it more that we do a Liverpool on it.

Damnit! You're right and Mystic isn't (I think).

But we can afford two draws now whereas we couldn't before.

So Mystic is right about that marginal gains thing.

I haven't read the thread, but can confirm Keita was getting loads of abuse at the match. It's because he's shit.

Yesterday, City had 15 games to make up 4 points on us. Tonight, they have 14 to make up 5 points.

Not perfect, but if you'd told us that we'd be held today, you'd not have believed it...

Perspective, folks. We remain ahead of where most of us thought we'd be at this stage, we can't win every bloody game, and City will not go 100% the rest of the way either.

We're Liverpool - We can't do it the easy way... You all know that, even if we do hang on to win it in the end, it'll be a last minute penalty against Wolves that none of us can watch that'll finally get the job done.

Yeah Keita is no where near the level we hoped he'd be but I don't think we should throw in the towel yet. He isn't doing enough to justify his price tag or the hype but we waited for Fabiano to find his feet so hoping Keita does too.

Shaq was quiet again today. I suppose he, like Salah, found it hard to find space against a compact Leicester side.

You know how it is, you see all the off the ball stuff at the game. In the first half Keita was walking around, out of position, watching the match. It was embarrassing. Second half he'd obviously been bollocked and he ran around a bit and was marginally better. He looks like a lazy bastard who wants the game to happen to him as opposed to wanting to make the game happen.

You don't know what you're talking about, you needed to watch him with both eyes
