Liverpool v Hearts

I guess so, but I always fear that leads to a James/Freidel situation where both end up fidgety. I'd rather surround the number one with whatever coaches, psychologists, baseball bats, whatever, to make them concentrate.

I wonder if that sort of thing could work with Reina - he looks to me like someone who still hasn't come to terms with what's happened to the club he used to play for. Is his heart really in it for a 3-4 year rebuilding process? Might be better for everyone if he just has a change of scenery.

Reina has benefitted from us having so many managers over the last few years. They must have all thought he's been having a blip in form when he's been consistently crap.

Yep he cost us on Sunday too...never misses an opportunity to talk about the clubs lack of achievement, never acknowledging how he's one of the ones culpable for the position we're in.

Come off it, how the fuck is Reina culpable for our reduced circumstances? That's just silly.

Not solely obv, but he's more than played his part. I'd be interested to see how many points you could tally up that we've lost as a result of howlers like that since the Hodgon era onwards.

He was only great for a fairly short period. He was utter rubbish for his first season, then ok, then ace for one year when we came second. Shite since.

So you're saying he's been crap for 4 of his seven years? Seriously?

Sounds way OTT to me.

I missed the game, still at work. So, how did we do? Typical Liverpool or the new boss Liverpool?

I see we drew..... 😵

Okay, I'm going to go read through this thread as I missed the match. However can someone answer the following query for me please...

I posted this in another thread...

I don't 100% disagree with moron here (I know!). I can see his point, and I thought the same, we didn't create that many CLEAR goalscoring chances. Neither did they, mind, which is obviously a positive. We were by far the better team, and deserved to win. But we did this so often last season in the big games and would be absolute shit against the smaller teams.

I wouldn't say we've turned the corner, not by a long shot. The real tests early this season will be against the likes of Sunderland, Reading and Norwich. I think they're in the next few games? I would see it as a far greater sign of improvement if we can keep up the same level of performance as we did against City against those teams. We know all too well that we can get up for the big games, but against the smaller teams we can be just as spectacularly turgid - just as we were against West Brom.

I think it could go either way at the minute, but the game against City was definitely cause for optimism. Let's just hope it's not another false dawn.

Was the bit in bold the case again? Same old turd against lesser opposition?

I don't know but with these Europa cup games it maybe a different story than the league mentality. Its possible BR may have told the players not to go a full speed at them if they cannot close off the game early as he could be thinking about Sunday's game. Therefore the players did not play like they did against Man City. Unfortunately we will have to wait till the Sunderland game if they are really up for it against the so called lower sides ( I don't know if that applies anymore considering we came 8th last season).

Can someone other than moron answer me now, please?

We kept the ball well enough, Allen was very good again. However we tended to run out of ideas a little in the last third and as per usual missed the easy chances that did come our way. We controlled the game for the most part, better in possession than we have been in previous years.

Believe they had one tame shot on goal from what I remember and Pepe thinking it's still the 2011-2012 season managed to let it pass straight through him.

All in all you can see signs of improvement, in summary, not the same as previous years (mostly) but like last year in front of goal. I'm probably the first to highlight this but I think we could do with a striker who can finish.

Cheers man. I saw the goals, that was horrendous from Pepe. Suarez's goal was class, though.

Not cheers to Modo!
