Liverpool v Everton Match Thread

The other plus is that hopefully today is the last day we see James Milner start in midfield ever again.

Nah, strongest side today. Rest Weds.

I even heard someone say we should have played Sturridge instead of Solanke. If he'd have played in that bit of snow he'd have had that many gloves and balaclavas on you'd have thought he was in the IRA.

Such a shame to waste points against the worst piece of shit team and manager we'll play this season.
Yep, they are incredibly poor, worst Everton side I can remember tbh

Just look...

It's really a cause to get someone sectioned.

This is how far Everton have fallen, despite spending over £140m, they are well chuffed that they managed to get draw from a very softly given penalty. If I was a Blue I would be embarrassed, especially with Fat Sam.

Can I just say Big Sam can go fuck himself tonight. This result don't mean much to be honest coz none of our other rivals did anything significant. Fuck Everton - that's what I keep telling myself. As for those of you having a go at Klopp's rotation policy - it would have been all fucking roses for you all if we had one that game 1-0. Fine margins my friends.

I don't know Skully, I was apparently too busy sucking his cock.
LOL LOL !!!! = fantastic Mark !!!! Did not see that level of humour coming from you. I'm in tears laughing my bollocks off - going for a smoke. Made my day this.

There's your game-over right there.

I can somewhat forgive Lovren cos he wasn't intentionally trying to bundle the lightweight over, but Mane gets nothing from me. He fucking knew full well he had teammates waiting for a tap in, and he still tried to be the hero. Piss fucking poor.

So it looks like people are placing their blame far and wide but as usually it's a bit of everything.

Klopp should have picked 'the Fab 4' as everyone knew Everton would sit with 11 behind the ball and try and shut us down. And in fairness to them they did just that.

Our goal was our 1st effort on target after 42 minutes and it came about from individual brilliance as opposed to a wonderful team goal.

We badly lacked that creativity and cutting edge our two Brazilians give us.

It's all well and good trying to rest players so we don't collapse in Jan like last year but not at the expense of the game in front of you and even more so when it's a derby.

Mane cost us when he decided to go alone where the only excuse for such selfishness is scoring. It's obvious Salah's form has god under his skin a little and he's snatching at things now and being overly greedy in front of goal (some greed is needed, for instance Firmino doesn't have enough). Klopp needs to sort that shit out pronto as today Mane cost us a most likely 2-0 lead and winning position.

Lovern was also at fault with a needless stupid Moreno like foul. And even for those arguing it wasn't a foul he should never have given the ref a decision to make, the player was isolated, running away from goal and there was cover.

As a side I hated Klopps post match interview he sounded like a Knob and I hope it's the last time I see that side of him.

I actually think he left it too late at that point, he should have offloaded a second before that.

Fucking criminal

You know you're supposed to blame Henderson for this, right?

I'll take the bait, I hated his performance yesterday. For a player who has played in midfield for a lifetime, once he gets anywhere near the final third or gets any kind of pressure, he bottles it. Stray passes, back/side passes, poor shots, bad decision making, you name it. He provides absolutely no attacking threat whatsoever.

I get it that he was the defensive mid but there was really nothing to defend was there? He recycles the ball but nothing goes through the middle, it was always right or left or back or passing it onto a colleague and that's job done, to him. He is as responsible to win us the game than the fab 4 or any other players.

Piss poor from our captain, one of our current longest serving and in one of the biggest match of the season.

I think they were saying Martina held his position well, and only went for Mane at the last moment. Mane panicks and shot like a girl.

Regardless i agree that was the key moment and he should have done much better.

Did he panic? I thought he was just selfish. When he moaned in midweek about his teammates never passing him the ball, I assumed he was joking - even though it sounded a bit odd - but now, well, I'm not so sure. Since he returned from injury he's seemed strangely sullen and semi-detached. And it was ridiculous to shoot from where he was when two teammates were in the centre.

It's why I hate derbies these days. If we win it's very nice for a couple of days, but we always have other games to focus on. If they win you know they'll release a DVD of the game, and still be celebrating months after. Even a draw has them punching the air. You see their faces, women, kids, full of pure hatred at times. It's really sickening.

He is right footed but ended up shooting with his left so I think he didn't intend to shoot initially. I think he was waiting for Martina to do something and when Martina stood his ground until the last moment his brain just froze when he realised he was running out of space.

A couple of weeks ago it was the same, he was cleared through 1v1 with the keeper. He took his time and when a defender came too close he shot wide.

As for Mane, yeah looking at them pics and after hearing what everyone said yesterday, he should have passed, but in real time did anyone expect him to? I just thought he'd score. He probs did too.

Has anyone done any ratings? Well, have no fear HERE THEY ARE!

I'm well fucking pissed off really. I'm not sure it's worth quacking on about team selections and mistakes and dodgy penalty decisions, but let's not pretend that that team was one that ANY SINGLE ONE OF US would have picked or predicted. But I'll tell you who was delighted (and amazed) with the team selection: Fat Sam, the Everton players and all their fans.

I wasn't happy with the team before the game, and that stands, regardless of possession or how the Bitters were set up. And was anyone surprised with Fat Sam's tactics? 8 defenders, totally uninterested in attacking, totally ceded possession and territory, he simply let Liverpool come at them, and hoped for a stupid mistake from us. And that's what happened. And yet, despite how one-sided the game was, we still created little and only had a handful of shots on goal. It didn't require any heroics from Pickford or his defenders.

Mignolet (6) Totally unemployed for most of the game, apart from a couple of set-pieces and the occasional cross. Made one save all game, and had no chance with the penalty

Gomez (8) A very, very good display, full of energy and quality, and equally impressive in attack and defence (MOTM)

Lovren (4) Was having a decent game, but while we can argue about how easily the Everton player went down, Lovren should never have even given the ref a decision to make and it was incredibly thick defending.

Klavan (7) He looked composed, very solid and also used the ball well. Impressive.

Robertson (7) Full of running and made sure he was aware of Everton runners, on the very few occasions they had any. Some of his passing and crossing was a bit erratic, but overall a very decent display.

Henderson (6) Neat. Tidy. Ready-salted. Got through lots of work and saw plenty of the ball, which he used in an economical way, but all too often he played safe, short, sideways passes, when the game needed him to take more risks and be more adventurous with his passing.

Milner (6) Created a couple more good attacking chances than Henderson - which wasn't hard - and he was sturdily reliable, without really doing anything remarkable or interesting. Laboured a bit at times.

Chamberlain (7) Overall, this was a big improvement on his usual displays, and is showing signs of improvement. Adds real pace and dynamism to the team, and his ball-carrying is very good and rapid. Also delivered some good crosses, even if he often seems to run out of ideas when he reaches the opposition box.

Mane (6) Below the standards he has set himself, and seemed too desperate to score, especially when there were THREE Liverpool players square of him and he decided to shoot. Wide. A constant threat with his pace and movement, but this wasn't his day.

Salah (8) Another beautiful goal from the red-hot Egyptian, and could have score another with a header that went just wide. Total menace and the one player that Everton simply could not handle, before he went off.

Solanke (5) One or two nice touches and linkups, but while he did work hard, he had almost no attacking impact and never looked like scoring.

Does anyone think Mane is jealous that Salah has become the first person people look for. If it wasn't Salah on the right of him (e.g. if it was just Ox) I think he would have squared. And if he does anything like that again he needs benching. He's still in my mind our best player, although Salah making a great stab at that in current form. He needs to have it reinforced that no player is bigger than the team. 2 points dropped purely from that moment.

Mignolet (N/A) Did he have anything to do? His distribution wasn't as shit as normal but I don't think you can really rate nothing.

Gomez (9) Probably our best player yesterday. Can't remember him doing anything wrong. 9 might be high but what more do you want from a full back?

Lovren (0) I don't care how good he is for 89 minutes, he constantly does stupid shit that costs us points and he can fuck off and die

Klavan (8) Probs his best performance for us so far.

Robertson (7) Played well but should have had a few shots from the edge of the box. So should everyone else. I didn't understand the brand new plan to cross into the box to no-one, but I'm guessing that was tactical error, as it was from both sides.

Henderson (3) Shite

Milner (6) At least looked like he gave a fuck.

Chamberlain (6) Shouldn't have started, he played ok but never looked like doing anything capable of winning the match. If you play the role he did, you should.

Mane (5) Started off average, messed up a great chance, faded.

Salah (8) Must have wondered a) where his mates were that make it all click and b) why the fuck he was dragged off. Wasted yesterday. Great goal, might have done it again had he been left on.

Solanke (6) Tried but didn't seem to know what he was meant to do. If Frim would have started we'd have won.

It's much more simple than that. He's coming back from injury, & it's clear he's still not quite at full speed (physically or mentally), despite still being quality, & it's frustrating him. He's being a little more selfish cos he's trying to play his way back into form.

Strikers do the exact same thing when they're out of form. Whilst we wouldn't think of him as out of form as such, cos he's still so good & his game isn't just about scoring, he must know he's below his best & is trying his best to get on the scoresheet to help his confidence. Whether he's doing it consciously or not only he knows.
