Liverpool v Everton Match Thread

Just back from the match and haven't read anything on here yet, but that was the most shithouse Derby I can remember us playing since the Houllier Goodison when Carsley scored their winner. Maybe even worse.

If he'd have picked the same side as Weds we'd have fucked them 6-0. But he shit out, and it filtered right through the team. It was horrible to watch, and so fucking obvious as it unfolded.

As for Lovren. There's nothing left to say.

Exactly. And why did he do it? Fucking why?Nobody on here has the answer bar its xmas etc. Bulshit. Klopp thought he would outsmart us all, fuck me fat sam must have had a wank looking at that team sheet.

You're missing the point, Solanke and Ox, in the first half were in consequential. Surely Coutinho and Firmino would given us more and we could have been a couple of goals to the good. The game was marginal and we dropped points because we didn't kill it off. Starting our strongest team offered more of a guarantee. We ultimately created two clear chances, the goal from individual brilliance and the Mane chance.

Cmon mark... the game was marginal?? We were comfortable as hell and should have been three or four up and deserved to be so as well, even with our rotated team.

Was the game important yes it was, did we deserve to draw it? Did we fuck... we got robbed... Everton didn’t deserve fucking anything today and the ref and a couple of silly attacking moves cost us the points that we actually deserved.

Fat Sam... give a fuck if he is smiling... he is still a fat cunt useless manager in charge of a bag of shit team, he got very very lucky today but that will not always happen.

Nothing was wrong with it, just people throwing their toys out of the pram as usual.
That team did more than enough to win, and there are two key incidents in the game.
Mane not squaring the ball for 2-0 and that Horrendous penalty decision.
Lovren shouldnt have his hands up, but no ref should ever give a penalty for such minimal contact. Awful.

As if in hell if we played it into Allardyce's hands. He's probably smiling cause he cant believe how lucky they got.
They were beaten all over the park by a far superior team and would have lossed if not for an incompetent referee and an egoistical Mane.

Did you expect them to go toe to toe with us?

They packed the defence and let us faff about with it outside the box and lob it in to Solanke. We have a history of struggling against teams that sit back and pack the defence. I have no issues with how they played. Defending is part of the game too. Just because they conceded a load of possession doesn't mean we beat them all over the park. They let us have it and packed their box and we struggled. Lump it up towards Lovren and chase him down and you always have a chance because he's fucking terrible. Their tactics were spot on and we gave them a greater chance of getting a result with our team selection.

The game was crying out for Coutinho to lure them out and beat men, maybe pick a clever pass. We needed Firmino's movement and ability to create. Solanke didn't offer any of that. Had those two played, we might have created another goal or two out of nothing - just as Salah did.

THANKYOU for posting that...I was too angry to be reading all the whinging fucking experts.... yeah man... we were fucking robbed but fuck it.... swings and roundabouts....

I’m just hoping that the good luck will swing our way finally in a big fucking game... preferably with something ridiculous like another big ears at the end of it.

I think the point he was making is that parked bus or not we should easily have been three or four goals up in that game before they got the dodgy penalty.... park the fucking bus and had a very very lucky bus...we played well, we didn’t win but we played well.

You couldn't make a stronger point for what Frim brings to the team that today's first half performance.

Fuck football, it's so fucking pathetic. No wonder so many tards are into it.

Some of this has been said, but need to get some frustration out....
  1. Mané cost us the game. That was a 95% goal scoring opportunity. I would have been okay, if we had missed after the pass, but he had to pass. I would not have been tempted to pull him at halftime for Firmino or Coutinho then. A strong message and would have given us more balance while still on front foot.
  2. Salah (except for the goal) was pretty poor. Mané was worse. In addition to the blown chance, he was slow with ball constantly trying to set up 1v1s, except with Everton so deep they were 1v2s or 3s. Salah did much of the same.
  3. I have no issue with not starting Coutinho. I do not think he would have had any joy in the first half either. They were so compact and so deep. He would have been as frustrated as everyone else. And, Coutinho does not play well with frustration - one of his downsides.
  4. Coutinho is also poor when coming on late and chasing a result.. He tries too hard. He is at his best when the game comes to him, not when he presses. He needed to come in at half or leave him on the bench.
  5. I think Solanke was a decent choice - we needed his physicality in the box - and he played alright. He did not look overwhelmed.
  6. But, I think we missed Firmino's movement up front. I would have preferred 4-4-2 from the beginning or at least at halftime.
  7. With all that, I think our biggest issue was combination of Milner and Hendo in the midfield, and Hendo more than Milner (which I hate to say, because I like him). But, I would have preferred Gini or Can to drive the game forward. Hendo was painfully slow. Did not give up possession but too slow.
Finally, on the positive side, credit to both Klavan and Gomez.
  1. Klavan did not have a lot to do, but with all of our possession and pressing, we were always in danger of a counter and he snuffed everything out early and calmly without many athletic gifts.
  2. Gomez was not the most important player on the field, but provided the most impressive performance. Strong and powerful going forward and back and a really nice passer of the ball. So, excited about his future no matter where he plays. In spite of our need at CB, I think he could be a brilliant DM in pretty short order.

Four goals? Four? Two with the Mane chance. Bar that we created nothing.

We didn't play well. We had a lot of the ball but didn't do enough with it.

Imagine changing a team that just twatted Moscow 7 nil a few days ago. What a fucking dick.

Don't get me wrong. When we play like we did on Weds it's great... but Klopp has serious issues with changing things round for the sake of it. I think he thinks he's better than he is and he's arrogant. Fat Sam just played him for the 4th time on the bounce. What does that tell you?

He's got to learn or he can fuck off.

Ermmmm... all of them I can’t remember perhaps but certainly the missed header by Salah makes three...

Numerous dangerous crosses across the area as well...

We had three totally guilt edged chances...

Against a totally parked bus...

A totally parked bus who were gifted a goal they truly didn’t deserve...

It was one of the most one sided derby games I’ve ever seen and a lot of that was down to the fact that we bossed that match...

Bossed it but got robbed...

Each to their opinion I suppose

I'd forgotten about the Salah header. That was a difficult chance and he did well to get it as close as he did. I wouldn't class that a golden chance.

Fair enough, but if I was a manager and I was playing against Liverpool and didn't have a top side, I'd do exactly what Everton did today. It's the most effective way to stop us. They deserved the draw for how they defended.

Stunning.

This is fucking nuts. Normally if I leave a game I'm not arsed. I get it all out my system at Anfield then go and have a pint and forget about it. I only want to actually maim people when I've watched in on the TV. Would quite happily write CUNT into Lovren's head with a soldering iron right now.

No they deserved fucking nothing and the Salah chance was a golden chance you could see the way he held his head in despair at missing directly after it.

Anyway... it’s nearly 1 am here and I need to kip some.... good night all.

The ref was a major twat today.

Lovren would have got away with that 99 times out of a hundred. The fecker dived.

Mane needs a damned good talking to.

Why do we keep pumping in high crosses when we have midgets as forwards?

Salah's goal was just gorgeous.

Good to see Ings come on.

And Sky's coverage was even more abysmal than usual - they've actually made it incredibly hard to concentrate on a game thanks to those endless replays while the action is still going on. The keeper will bowl the ball out, they go to a replay of someone doing nothing of any interest, then they go back to the action when it's reached the opposition area. Ridiculous.

And Everton fans, my god, they celebrate a flukey draw as if it's a cup final victory. It's why I hate this fixture these days with a passion.

Insofar as team selection goes I would play the “ Fab Four” every single time save for dead rubbers, the way I see it is they ain’t gonna be together past this season so maximise them while you have them, they will destroy anybody as I believe they are the best attacking unit in world football right now so flog the arse out of them while you can.As for Everton I never watch them other than in the derby and I have to say this is as poor an Everton side that I can remember, dreadful side, they have got literally nothing. Had we played our front four today we would have absolutely anhialated them.

Yeh, we should just play the fab four every game then scratch our heads when they look completely shagged and start picking up injuries from the middle of December til the end of the season.

Klopp did learn, the Christmas period and a failure to rotate fucked our entire season last year.
Exactly, we've rotated very well so far this month, and I include todays game, it's going to massively benefit us when are best players are still fresh throughout Christmas and January.
