Thiago was meant to be our lock picker...
He's honestly trying but the front 3 have been too hot n' cold this season.
We really need a 9 to challenge Bobby, or replace him. I just hope Klopp doesn't really view him as critical to this team.
Thiago was meant to be our lock picker...
Gini, Milner and Thiago looked tired, we should have had Jones on at HT. Origi and Ox really have nothing to offer unless we are bossing a game, neither one should stay next season.
Meh, still champions.
Did you guys not understand what 'all must be sacrificed at the altar of #19' actually entailed?
The title is gone, so a fight for CL is on.
We'll have a proper set of CBsI don't know - we were so average last year post Corona and didn't start the season great.
Maybe this had to happen to have the team refocus.
I just want to smash man city - let them win the league, but let's smash them.
And we've just go to Feb ... sucks.
I would have been happy with Cain and DavisWho should he have brought on?
Didnt they just...we were utterly clueless cunts. City do t need to do anything o sunday. It has to be said Brighton deserved that
We'll have a proper set of CBs
Hendo and Fabs will be back in midfield and we'll be able to play them with Thiago who can be let off the leash with Fabs behind him.
Jota + 1 to supplement our current front three.
Some dead wood will have been cast off - Ox. Origi and Shaq. - and hopefully replaced with more productive squad players.
Even now when all are fit we have the best first XI in the PL, next season should see us stronger, and hopefully with a proper pre-season, rested players and crowds back.
Apart from key injuries the biggest difference from last season is the players look shattered every game. last season it almost didn't matter how we started a game as we'd steamroller the opposition in the second half with our attitude and energy levels but this season when we need the change of tempo or acceleration it just isn't there. They all look flat and one paced and shite teams are matching us for endevour, defending deep and taking points from us. Most of the time deservedly.
Plenty of reasons why we look goosed including covid, short pre season, punishing schedule the past three seasons, key injuries, players playing out of position and no fans but I still think we should be doing better.
I'm not sure what we can do to address it and if we don't at least qualify for the Champions league then the season will be disastrous.
I agree a season without Champions league participation is unthinkable but we can't seem to get a winning run together and now the home form has collapsed it's really looking dodgy. Relegation battlers are making us look ordinary going forward which is a bad sign.Gotta improve the steroid plan next year then.
As for your last sentence, we have to, absolutely have to, finish top 4 ... cannot afford a season without CL

When we play against these 11 behind the ball teams and it isn't going to plan I really don't know why we persist with playing Wijnaldum in midfield when he can be so dangerous in the box. I'd rather have him attacking a cross instead of Origi hoping it'll bounce off him into the net. As others have said he could have put the new lad Davies on at half time and pushed Henderson into midfield but he went with Origi and Chamberlain who've both looked shit for over a year.Cant argue with that... we actually need jota and keita back ... both can add something in the final 3rd.

Was he? He's not that sort of player.
sorry - don't know what the fuss about him is ? - does anyone so far ? - he is turning out to be the person I had no memory of during that game we had with Bayern (away leg where we won). There is an argument that many will make regarding the movement ahead of him, but seriously - he had one good pass in that game from that free kick - other than that he is no different. If truth be told we need a really ball playing dribbler in that midfield who can get past a crowded defense and stand up to these big cunts. We really needed the fight of Mane today up front. Even if we win on Sunday - don't think it means much now - we have all but handed the title over to city tonight. I just hope the struggle for CL footy next season is not as bad as the struggle we have faced trying to retain the title.

Virtual handshake received SM.Sorry guys - I sat and watched the 2nd half.
This defeat is on me.
I’ll not watch the City game - I promise!!!
I didn’t watch Spurs & West Ham but did watch Newcastle, WBA, Burnley & Utd (League) games.
It really depends on your definition of the term. It's rare for one moment of magic to unlock an entire defense. Thiago often plays a low fast ball, whilst looking another way, which catches the opponents off guard. The problem is both Salah and Mane have struggled to control it in recent weeks. He plays the pass before the assist as it were. He's certainly creative and has excellent close control to beat a man.No he wasnt, hes the guy that sets the tempo of the game with his perpetual motion passing machine. Hes a fantastic passer of the ball, arguably the best in world football, but hes not a lock picker against mass defences. Thats really Keita or Shaqs role, in so far as its anybodies specific role.
What you absolutely dont want against a massed well organised defence is Ox and Origi coming on to run into brick walls and turn over posession every 2 mins.
