Hats off to Babel and Aqualani. Their performance tonight just goes to show what a great man-manager Rafa is.

Good luck Fulham anyway
To be fair we dont have the kind of funds to compete with the likes of Fulham anyway.

Rafa should have swallowed his pride and had Riera on the bench.

The subs killed us today, totally killed us.
Wow. You know... I completely forgot we even had him. Fuck, you're right. He should've been on the bench.

I suspect the RCDNW gang will be keeping heads down for the night. And I dont blame them, I would too if I was still behind the manager.

The team played really well and none of them should be getting any stick.
I agree. The starting 11 were to a man fantastic. And should indeed be very proud of their efforts.
They were undone by a paper thin squad. The worry of which is that only Torres, Insua and Riera were missing! I mean THATS OUR FULL SQUAD.

I agree the attitude was great mate, but I cannot recall us creating too much. Toothless again, with fuck all on the bench to increase the tempo when it dropped.

Riera is an experienced international who YES fucked up, but we didnt sell or loan him out and we are paying the fuckers wages. Its last chance saloon in the season and where is he? Earning 45k a week sat at home because although he apologised Rafa has frozen him out and left us with...El Fucking cunt to come on.
I agree. Riera is a club asset

Shit competition my arse. We were desperate for a trophy, and it would have provided some solace from a nightmare season. Now there's no consolation at all, unless Chelsea can win the league.
I was joking.

We have an awful squad, and for all the disgust with the subs, there's no one on the bench of any quality. We learned nothing today, but at least the team pulled together some.

I wouldn't disagree with that Mike but at least there were some signs of hunger and desire from everyone.

That's hardly solace. It's been a clusterfuck of a season. A trophy would only have papered over the cracks chasms anyway
this is true bye bye rafa
Kuyts lack of pace cost us a few chances. He was put in a few times and just outpaced even with a head start.
Im not having a pop like, he just wasnt as fast as the defenders.

let's try and look at the positives as the negatives are so bloody glaringly obvious:

Aquilani looked fantastic. I wonder how many wins we would have had this season had it been Gerrard-Masch with Aquilani in front of him? Nothing against lucas tonight, he was great but that 3 man combo is our best.

Babel continues to take positive strides as the season ends. He may have a role to play next year on this team.

I thought Yossi playing on the right again highlighted what we've been missing with him on the left. He's shit there. He's dangerous on the right.

Kuyt/Lucas - great performances.

First time in a long while. Although to jump on Fwanks' wagon, I was a bit disappointed in our skipper tonight. Just disappeared as the game went on.

Not really a great build to the tournament is it?

We're all fucking sick to death of football after this season.

God yes. Pretty much invisible second half. With Torres out he really needed to step up to the plate. Linked well with Alberto first half but not good enough again. It's been a miserable season from Gerrard.

Yeh but the World Cup is ace. It's a festival of football. I'd like to see England do well but it won't hurt if they dont
You say that mate, but his subs (as per fucking usual) make no sense. If Aquilani was fucked, which to be fair he looked and needed to come off then move Mascherano into the middle and bring on Degen or the Greek. Then WHY take Mascherano off....WHY? Then finally Yossi (our best player in extra time) comes off and we are playing a 2-1-1-2-4-1 formation with STILL just Kuytr up front.
I just dont understand the man at all.

Our football is too based around fitness and harrying the opposition.

We don't make the ball do the work either. Too much hustle and bustle.

Once we begin running out of steam around the 60min mark, we are just there for the taking.

When Torres is playing, we're usually a couple of goals up. Or have the potential to counter when the opposition come onto in the last 30mins. Without him, we're toothless and have no outlet whatsover, so it just keeps on coming back, and the pressure mounts.. making us chase more and get even more tired.

Our whole footballing philosophy has to change. When all is fit, it works on 1 off European nights. But if one part of the jigsaw is missing, it tends to fall apart.. and hence will never take us to a league title (however close it seems we get).

Europe - sometimes. PL - never.

decent performance but not enough in the end. tired body, low morale. me I mean. off to the office in a couple of hours. Only positive - TGIF.

Forgive me if I Quiff, but I kinda worried when Aqua was replaced by El - fucking -Zhar, who to date has done absolutely zero when thrown on to change a game.

They were the better team over two legs.

We played too much long ball and ran out of steam

I would have kept Aqua on regardless of how he felt, fucks sake there is two games left Rafa

At least the new manager can see tonight there is some quality players here with heart. Now we just need more of them
