Rafa Benitez is reportedly lining up an £8m summer swoop to bring in Bolton’s highly rated winger South Korean Lee Chung-Yong to help provide more creativity in the club’s midfield and provide more firepower for the Anfield strike force.

The 21 year old former FC Seoul man has impressed many since his arrival at the Reebok last July and his flair, ability to put in a good cross consistently and eye for goal have not gone unnoticed. Liverpool are reportedly close to securing the exit of troublesome Spanish international Albert Riera and its thought that funds from any sale, probably to a Russian side sometime soon, would go towards attempting to snap up the Trotters man.

The Bolton man has adjusted well to life in the Premier League and has become a regular first team player under both current boss Owen Coyle and Gary Megson before him. His Chung-Yong’s displays have helped the Lancashire side keep itself above the relegation zone and will hope that his efforts go some way to helping the side avoid the dreaded drop.

Coyle will not be keen to lose the South Korean but may find it hard to prevent the youngster from having his head turned by such interest and with a World Cup on the horizon it could be that Chung-Yong becomes a much sought after signing.

The right winger could help provide more natural width for the Merseyside club who would love to bring in new additions this summer but are severely constrained by a lack of transfer funds likely to be made available, hence Benitez’s need to offload under performing players in order to sign new ones.

good player, pacey and not afraid to take players on. fuck off riera and replace him with chung lee

*spinning bird kick!!*

I'd be happy with a functional, Premiership proven wide player or two. We need players who can create our world class centtral players space.

Where are we getting the 8m? And why isnt it being put towards a striker?

don't we already have a striker on a bosman?

I think he's very good player and would be a good addition to the squad. Probably sell a lot of shirts too!

Neil: Another cheap back up? Great! :-(

I've been impressed every time I've seen him. remember that run from deep at anfield?
look at valencia's impact at manu, did you rate him before this season?

Valencia? I was talking bout our bosman striker! When did we last get a good bosman? Mcallister! Plus utd paid more than 8m for valencia.

Hmm, I'd be pretty happy with him providing we do not overspend. Left back has to be the priority and we'll need some money for it.

He's been very good whenever I've seen him, and his youth is a positive as well. Do we really need another RW though? There's like a huge gaping fucking hole on our left side, so perhaps we should buy some left-sided players?

Ha, i thought he was a leftie, if he isn't we need to look elsewhere. I've liked n'zogbia this season...

Haha!

A cut-price winger from a small club.
This has to be good news given the recent success we've had with similar purchases.

have you actually watched him though, bren?
the best winger in our history came from a small club. obviously not comparing players just saying you can get good players from small clubs, valencia is a good example.

Don't worry, he can probably "do a job on the left"

I can't recall ever seeing this guy play. What's he like?

very quick and very tricky and unlike yossi actually knows when to release the ball. go to you tube and check out his run against us earlier in the season.
