In January, LFC invited fans to apply to sit on a new supporter consultation Committee. A 7-person panel was set up to review all 3,705 applications and we're delighted to unveil the first 6 candidates nominated to make up the inaugural Committee.

The Liverpool FC Supporters' Committee will consist of 18 fans who will represent all of the major stakeholder groups amongst our supporter base in meetings with senior Club officials.

Below are the names of the first six candidates who were nominated and the 100% unedited application letters on which they were judged by the panel.

Representing Supporters in Anfield / Breckfield: James Benson
Born: 1981
Lives: Anfield, Liverpool

Why I wanted to represent this group: As a resident of the Anfield area I would feel privileged and honoured to have a say on what is happening at the club that I love and the area in which I live. I have been a Liverpool FC supported all my life, but you could argue it was even earlier than that, my family are all Liverpool fans and I had no choice who I supported, it was a birthright that was thrust upon me like the family name, but I'm not complaining, I've loved every minute of it (and my kids have been given the same birthright!). I have been an Anfield resident for ten years now and grew up in the Everton area of the city before that. I have lived in north Liverpool all my life and feel that, although the club is not in any way responsible for the area, it should (along with Everton FC) have a moral obligation as residents of the area to involve themselves in helping the area to become better and to help it grow and to become a successful and prosperous area. Having the opportunity to enter into proper dialogue with the club over issues that we all deem as important is an exciting proposal and with the openness and transparency that has been promised I feel it is something that can only benefit the club. As far as what I could offer I feel that I would bring an honesty and forthright opinion that wouldn't be clouded by my love for the club. I would want to listen to all the opinions and to all the considerations for action and hopefully offer a direct and truthful response from the education of listening to those directly involved in the running of the club and not from the words that have been diluted by press or TV that may have a motive for obscuring the truth. This would again, I feel, help the club and help to remove any alienation that the fans may have felt in the past from the club. I am putting myself forward for this role because, as I have said, I would feel honoured to hear about the exciting future of the club from those that have the ability to achieve great things and gain an understanding of what they are trying to do and how they intend to do it. I would like to have a say on how these good things can be done, initially for the present and then for the future of both the club and the city, and hopefully helping to bring these ideas to fruition thereby helping to achieve our aim in securing both a successful club and the rebuilding of an area that desperately needs to be brought up to the standards suited to the home of a championship winning football club and worldwide fan attraction. Thank you for your consideration.

Representing Supporters in the Merseyside postal code area: Paul Rice
Born: 1957
Lives: West Derby, Liverpool

Why I wanted to represent this group: I have been watching LFC since the mid-60's progressing from the Boys' Pen, the Anfield Rd End & the Kop & have now been a season ticket holder in the Lower Centenary since 1989. For the past 3 years I have been heavily involved in Spirit of Shankly, chairing its inaugural meeting before being formally elected as Chair and more recently as Vice Chair & lifetime Vice President in recognition of my work for the organisation. Although disparagingly referred to as "200 divvies" and "sons of strikers" by two thankfully long gone senior officials of the club, SOS proved not only to be the vanguard of fan protests in the removal of the previous owners, but has impressed all that have come across it as a well organised, professional organisation that has gone on to represent its members with credibility and purpose, whether it be dealing with the club, organising away travel or taking up issues with the game's authorities. Indeed only this week we have taken up an invitation to make a submission to the Government inquiry into the governance of football. It is fair to say that SOS now enjoys a positive relationship with the club, remaining an independent, critical friend rather than a confrontational thorn in the side as was unfortunately necessary under the previous regime. It is not just through my involvement with SOS that I have experience of representing the views of a wider constituency. As Chief Executive of Liverpool Commercial District Partnership (of which I am pleased to say LFC is a member!) part of my role is to ensure the best interests of businesses in the Commercial District are articulated and well served in our dealings with public sector agencies. I have over 20 years experience in this type of role, as well as representing members up to and including at national level as a lay trade union official in NALGO/Unison. I was also a member of the board of the Association of Town Centre Management for 12 years, where I represented over 350 town & city centre managers. Although I could have stood for several of the positions on offer, I believe I am best placed to fulfil the Merseyside role. Although nobody could claim to know everybody in the city region, it is fair to say that my professional, SOS and personal networks mean I do know more than the average number of Liverpool fans across a broad cross section of the community. It goes without saying I would also ensure I represent the views of all local supporters through the lines of communication the club is in the process of establishing. Although I have cited my experience with SOS as evidence of my suitability, I believe it is totally separate from my role with that organisation. SOS exists to represent its members, whilst Committee is there to represent all supporters within each respective constituency. I would not therefore be an SOS representative in any way on the committee.

Representing Supporters in the UK (outside of Merseyside): Aaron Cardoso
Born: 1980
Lives: Milton Keynes

Why I wanted to represent this group: My name is Aaron and I am a British Asian from Milton Keynes who is a massively passionate red. I attend home games as much as I can, usually 10-12 games a season, in what is usually a 6/7 hour round trip. I usually sit in the centenary stand after a pint in the Paisley Lounge. I am a keen poster on the blondepoker forum (Europe's largest poker forum and my former employer) and in the sports betting and discussion sub board I am an avid poster on the Liverpool FC thread which I started in the build up to Istanbul. Over the last 20 or so months the thread has been reborn as I've defended our club to the hilt with my passion and research on all things football and all things boardroom. From Rafa's net spend to Hodgson's tactics: http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=244.0. I have a degree in Business Economics and am currently employed as an account manager for Leaseplan. I'd like to represent the club as the non-Meyseyside representitive in the UK for a few reasons. In all honesty I thought about applying for the Ethnic Minority supporters role but I really believe in some of the things we need to change, or perhaps just tweak, in order to become truly global are based around the welcoming of a wider audience. I feel as though we need to move away from the inward looking mentality I've seen creep in since Hicks and Gillette. I remember the warmth of fans around me as I came to Anfield to watch Barnes in the nineties scarcely believing I'd travelled so far with my dad. Now I hear chants about cockney scum and I lurk on the forum and feel the anti London vibe has returned for the wrong reasons. Don't let me forget the good stuff. I know we have huge Scandinavian support at our home games for example. I know our bond with various European clubs is huge. What I'm talking about it more fundamental. We should never buy the s*n, and we should embrace all that is scouse as though a nation, but we should also take into account the global picture. By definition a large number of Liverpool fans will be in London (it's simple mathematics) and will come from the South. This is a huge part of our future. If we remain on the outside we risk the columnists' inches gravitating even more to the right of centre towards the London clubs, the FA moving more into he LMAs pocket, and Sky 'old school' commentators being given even more of a grip on the nations opinions. We need to be smart, we need to embrace some changes. Not to fight as outsiders but to educate as insiders. We are only now catching up with "brand Man Utd" and "franchise Real Madrid". What would we give for an Alan Hansen on Sky? Or another Phil Thompson? I believe I am in touch with what not only our Southern fans think/see/read but I'm also in the unique position of seeing what many other clubs fans think of us and how we're portrayed in the media. Until the MK Dons came to Milton Keynes it was simply the biggest mongrel mix of football supports you've ever seen. Finally I feel as though these very real and sometimes tough questions need to go to our new owners with respect but gravity. We're willing to break our backs for them if they just scratch ours occasionally. In fairness, they're making all the right noises so far. I feel as though we, as fans, have a lot to offer but we need to move into the contemporary digital age so that we aren't left behind. If we take FSG's new age thinking and philosophy to the fans in the right way we'll all be sailing in the right direction. I hope my script finds you well - my apologies if I have written more than 500 words!

Representing Season Ticket Holders: Robert Humphries
Born: 1957
Lives: Orrell Park, Liverpool

Why I wanted to represent this group: Dear Panel, why choose me? Well I can only think of addressing this as a form of cv for a job application. However firstly I would like to state that I welcome the creation of this 'supporters' committee'. Obviously time will tell if it is to be of any real use but surely, despite some negativity, any form of communication has got to be better than none! I am also encouraged that the club have attempted to use a wide strand of members for the 'selection panel' - especially Ian Callaghan, my all time favourite LFC player; John Bishop, a fantastic comedian; Sue Johnston, the great actress etc etc (does that work? Sorry, I jest). My 'cv' therefore will be made up of three areas - personal, work and of course LFC. Personal I have been married for just over thirty years and have three beautiful daughters, one of whom regularly attends matches with me whilst patiently waiting on the season ticket list for her name to come up! I am currently on the 'Consultative Committee' for Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and previously was a 'Consultative Committee' member for Liverpool Vision, a local regeneration body and have served as Chairperson of my local Orrell Park Residents' Association. Work I work as a maintenance fitter at Yorkshire Copper Tube in Kirkby and have done for over thirty years. I am currently the team leader of my engineering department and also the Senior Steward on the site for the Unite/Amicus trade union. I have represented our members at site, regional, national and international level on various bodies and fully understand the role of representation and appreciate the differences between consultation, communication and negotiation. It was following the Hilsborough disaster, and having three young daughters at the time, that spurred me on to become a fully qualified first aider at work (including defibrillation) trained by the North West Ambulance Service. This interest is H&S led me to achieving my Nebosh National Diploma and a graduate member of the professional body, the Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH). I have gained a lot of experience through my union links and have achieved qualifications in Employment Law, Economics and Equal Opportunities amongst many others. LFC I have been an LFC supporter since I was an egg and a season ticket holder for as long as I can remember. I am passionate about my club and have enjoyed some fantastic times following the reds. I have travelled, and still do, everywhere to watch my beloved team. I understand the difficulties in creating a fair system for ticket distribution and remember hoping my season ticket ended in the right digit to qualify for cup final tickets as opposed to the loyalty scheme presently used. I would be honoured, if chosen, to represent my fellow season ticket holders and play a small part in ensuring OUR club recognises the importance of all its supporters in order to make LFC great once again both on and off the field.

Representing Under 18s: Lewis Cubbin
Born: 1994
Lives: Norris Green, Liverpool

Why I wanted to represent this group: First of all, I'd just like to say that the implementation of a Supporters' Committee by Liverpool Football Club is a decision that I know will benefit our wonderful institution for many years to come. The relationship between LFC and those who pledge their eternal allegiance to it has been somewhat broken over the past few years, what with a hostile ownership between 2007 and 2010, that saw the attitudes and values of everybody associated (the Liverpool way) stretched as key figures went public about things that we should, quite frankly, not ever need to deal with. In bringing the ordinary supporter off the street and into discussion with the Club on essential issues, the trust levels of our recently instated board would rise at a constant rate, and we'd be able to achieve that stability that we have been craving for such a long time. I'm Lewis Cubbin, a sixteen year old from Norris Green in Liverpool. I attend West Derby Comprehensive School's sixth form and, as I type, am studying English, Government and Economics. As I entered the GCSE period of compulsory education, and it became known to me that English was by far my strongest subject, I deemed it logical to take what literary skills I had, and look to use them in my future occupations. That coupled in with an unhealthy obsession with sport (football in particular), and my aspirations of becoming a sportswriter had began. I unfortunately don't possess a season ticket, but do attend around 80% of the home matches in all competitions, as well as quite a few away games (usually against the other Northern sides in the division). I am a member of the Spirit of Shankly supporters' union, despite not committing to all of their views. I joined the union during the height of Tom Hicks & George Gillett's time at the club, and have remained there even after their corrupt regime can to its demise. When I'm not going to the match or studying, I have a blog dedicated to Liverpool FC. I also have a Twitter page, which allows me to converse with other supporters (as of this moment, I have 560 followers) and have gained some recognition from influential figures such as Paul Tomkins in my first six months. I believe that I would be a stable representative of supporters under the age of eighteen as I possess a balanced opinion, am a great believer in long term, strategic thinking and most of all, I'm an ordinary, local lad with a good idea of what the fanbase is thinking. I wouldn't apply if I didn't think I would be of great benefit to the cause. I would be flattered if you could take my application into consideration, as such an opportunity would be a superb stepping stone for somebody who wants to some day write and converse with others about the sport and team he loves, for a living.

Representing Over 60s: Dr Stephen Kelly
Born: 1946
Lives: Manchester

Why I wanted to represent this group: I first visited Anfield as a young boy in the late 1950s and quickly became a committed fan. Over the next two decades I watched Liverpool from the Kop, and supported them home, away and abroad. In the mid 1980s I became a season ticket holder in the Main Stand and have been there ever since. I am now almost 65 and semi-retired but my passion and commitment continues as ever. As the author of more than a dozen books about Liverpool Football Club, including the official history and biographies of Bill Shankly, Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness and Gerard Houllier, I feel that I have an extensive knowledge of Liverpool and its fans. In the 1980s as a journalist with Granada Television I was involved in the media coverage of the Heysel and Hillsborough disasters. Indeed I was present at Heysel and following the Hillsborough disaster I campaigned strongly over the coverage meted out to fans particularly by the S**. During this period I became more actively involved in the club through my books. This involved close liaison with directors as well as club officials, such as Brian Hall, and the various managers I was writing about. This enabled me to gain an understanding of the way the club operates. I have also written oral histories of the Kop and the Bootroom and as a result feel that I have an understanding of the fans and their passion for the club. Over the years I have on occasions written to the club pointing out difficulties concerning safety within the stadium. Although most of my games today are viewed from the Main Stand, I always watch European games from the Kop and thereby have a knowledge of that particular area as well. I still attend as many away games as possible and therefore understand the problems fans face at away matches. My prime focus would be to address concerns facing older fans. These include accessibility to the stadium itself, stairways, toilet facilities, congestion and the difficulties of exiting certain areas. As a fan who now lives outside of Liverpool I am also acutely aware of the travel difficulties many face, particularly on journeys home. These can include parking, road works, accessibility, exiting the Anfield area and the need for eating facilities both inside and outside the stadium. I also am familiar with the ticketing issues that fans face, such as pricing, availability and the fair distribution of tickets for key cup games. If I was to be chosen for this role I would endeavour to set up a website so that fans could leave messages detailing concerns. I would also discuss the possibility of having access to one of the fans' major websites, or even the club's official website, so that fans could communicate their problems. I welcome the setting up of this committee as a positive step by the club and something that I have been urging for some time.

The remaining 12 fans who have been nominated to sit on the committee will be revealed shortly.

Liverpool Football Club would like to thank all 3,705 supporters who took the time to apply for a role on the committee. Every application was read by the selection panel and your support for this process was very much appreciated. Stay tuned to the website for details about when the first meeting of the Liverpool FC Supporters' Committee will take place.

Re: Liverpool FC Supporters Committee - First 6 members

Representing General Admission Anfield attendees: Andrew Moran
Born: 1967
Lives: Kensington, Liverpool

Why I wanted to represent this group: I would put myself forward as a representative of fans who attend matches at Anfield through General Sale. I am currently one such fan. I have attended matches at Anfield this season. I am a life-long Liverpool supporter, currently 43 years of age. I have very much reached a point in life where I have both experience to give and the ability of common sense, both learned and natural, that I can apply. In addition, I formerly lived in L4, close to the ground. I have also supported the club when living in other parts of the UK; the South Coast and Scotland to be specific. I would therefore be able to bring my personal experience, knowledge and empathy of living both very close, and not at all close, to the football club I love and support. I am also currently unemployed. I believe that this section of society is not only greatly demeaned and unfairly treated, but almost completely without any representation whatsoever, anywhere. I am currently a member of SOS. I have experience of representing people and working with committees. I am a former civil servant and was at that time an active Trade Union member. As well as representing my office at "Whitley Council meetings" and staff under disciplinary action, I was a Branch official and had several roles over a few years, some of them at the same time; as President, Vice-President and Branch delegate to Conference. I was also my Office and Branch Health and Safety Representative. The above Trade Union work, as well as voluntary work in a Co-operative Development Agency and a Housing Co-op as a committee member and as a delegate to the Confederation of Co-operative Housing (CCH), as well as various work roles involving office meetings and conferences, mean that I am well used to committee work, minutes, reporting back and acting as a conduit for information. I am also a dab hand at producing documents and newsletters. I possess very strong IT user skills including DTP skills. Indeed, I was one-time primary editor of the CCH Bulletin, the aforementioned organisation's newsletter. I also produced a newsletter for my Trade Union branch. Finally, I have worked (in Scotland) as an event steward at football matches. Yes - that means at Old Firm matches, although I was Edinburgh based, and mostly worked at Hearts and Hibs, as well as at Murrayfield and Hampden. As well as having a few stories to tell, I believe this experience would be of use to the committee. To summarise: 1. I am a current season attendee of home matches; 2. I am a life-long Liverpool supporter; 3. I formerly lived in L4, near the ground; 4. I have lived in other parts of the UK and supported from a distance; 5. I have experience of representing people; 6. I have experience of committee work; 7. I have experience in providing and disseminating information; 8. I have experience of being an event steward at football matches.

Representing LFC Official Supporters Clubs: Tore Hansen
Born: 1967
Lives: Farsund, Norway

Why I wanted to represent this group: I have ticked the "Official Supporters Club" box because I have been involved with the Scandinavian / Norway Branch since 1984. Since 1985, I traveled regularly to Anfield and our Supporters' Club has over 36,000 paying members. I am 43 years old, married, two children and has experience from the airlines industry and the media. Norway and Scandinavia has a unique passion for Liverpool FC as you know, and when such a committee is formed, we also want to contribute with our experience and expertise in terms of how satisfied people are today with the club's offer, which values we believe represents LFC, but perhaps most importantly, what our members want in the years to come. I have over the years met with representatives from the club on several levels and have experienced how the club has evolved. We feel we have much to contribute and will be of great interest to be working in such a committee to create a good, solid platform for understanding the needs and wants LFC should facilitate in relation to some of the difficulties visitors experience. Similarly, we also know a lot about the needs of those who may never travel, or maybe just travel to Anfield only once in lifetime. It is not true - what Everton supporters think, that everyone in Norway travels to Liverpool twice a month ;-) I actually work for the Supporter Club over here full time - and I might mention that our website - liverpool.no - has three times as many unique users as the most popular football club in Norway, Rosenborg. LFC, as I previously explained, have a strong and unique following - it is actually not possible to explain why.... Let's be honest - the last few years have been tough for LFC, both on and off the field. With new ownership and, not least with Kenny Dalglish back, LFC have a unique opportunity to get this great club back where it belongs. To do so is entirely dependent on LFC to closely with us supporters. The modern LFC was created by Bill Shankly and the way he communicated with the fans was very special. That is why many of us are Liverpool supporters today - because of its personalities and philosophy. The club and city has such a special spirit and energy - and now we can do it all again! LFC has a fantastic opportunity to get back to their roots - but with a modern approach and in a modern "package". Much good work has actually been made in recent years - fortunately independent of the club's ownership, and as we see it today there is a good platform in place already, but still work to be done.

Representing All Red Members: Jonathan Hooks
Born: 1975
Lives: Salford

Why I wanted to represent this group: I've been an all red member since its inception. Also from a personal perspective I've lived throughout the UK and the US over the last 15 years. I've now settled in Manchester of all places. But would be available to attend any meetings or activities if the committee required me . Through this experience I've met Liverpool fans from all backgrounds and believe I'd be a good representative of your average Liverpool fan using the membership scheme and also what might appeal to my fellow fans. I've been in a full time professional job within Telecoms for 15 years and would also approach the committee membership with a professional but friendly and open manner. I believe the all red membership has vastly improved the ease of obtaining and the availability of home match tickets to fans. The friends and family option is a great way for fans to ensure they get multiple tickets to matches and can enjoy the match sitting together. However I think the membership should be expanded beyond what is in essence a ticketing system today. Some ideas I have include: Enhance the website to include: a travel forum or request page were fans share transport to and from matches, A section for the junior members, a photo's section where members can post pictures of their day at a match etc. Exclusive offers from Liverpools official sponsors to all red members, I'm sure this could be rewarding for everyone involved, the club, the fans and the sponsors themselves. All Red Membership Fan Days - Similar to the fan expo's they have in the states. A weekend event during pre-season where fans get to meet past and current players. Perhaps sneak previews of new merchandise and shirts to be released. With of course the change to purchase items and maybe have some exclusive items just for the expo. Regular prizes for all red members to also include for every allocation of tickets to all red members, keep back 2 tickets for the match and award via a lottery. In summary, I'm a lifelong Liverpool fan, who would love the chance to represent my fellow fans on the LFC Supporters Committee, I've a real passion for anything I put my heart and soul into and this would be such an endeavour. The most rewarding part of being on the LFC supporters committee would be to work with the club to improve its relationship with the fans and also the experience the fans get from every aspect of the club they all love. YNWA and Best Regards, Jonathan Hooks

Representing Corporate fans: Laurence Whitehead
Born: 1966
Lives: Milton Keynes

Why I wanted to represent this group: I am very keen to become the Corporate Fan on the Committee so that I can offer my professional experience first and foremost, although I would also like my personal passion and love for the club to be considered (see later). As well as feeling that I can add real value to the Committee from a professional perspective, I would also welcome the opportunity to give something back to an institution which has over the years given me so much pleasure. I take great pride in being a fan of such a great club. From a corporate perspective, I am a partner in one of the UK's leading accounting and business advisory firms. I am a chartered accountant and head up the firm's corporate finance division, responsible for providing advice to corporate clients on the raising of finance for companies, the buying and selling of businesses, share valuations and strategic planning. I have been recognised several times for my expertise in my field (happy to provide more details). I am also a member of the Corporate Finance Faculty of the ICAEW. I would love the opportunity to make a genuine contribution to the Committee and to add real value in my capacity as a professionally qualified person who has a great passion for our great club and who is also actively involved in the world of finance and corporate activities. My goal is to mix my personal love for the club with my experience of working for many years in a senior corporate environment. From a personal perspective, not only was I born only 50 yards from our famous Kop (24 Tinsley Street), I also had a season ticket in the Kemlyn Road stand and later in the Kop from the age of 11 to 18 (August 1977 to May 1984). In addition, my dad and brother were semi and apprentice professionals respectively at the club. In September 1984 I went to university, studying German and Russian, and then lived overseas for several years before settling back in Milton Keynes with my wife. Since then I have avidly continued to follow the club and still watch as many matches as possible. I have used the Corporate Hospitality Services on a number of occasions - both as inviter and as invitee. LFCTV is my favourite TV channel by far. After my wife and two sons, LFC is the one thing about which I am totally passionate - as my family and friends would confirm! It would be a great honour for me to be considered for the Corporate Fan position on the Committee and I hope that my personal and professional credentials are what you are looking for - a blend of love and passion for the club, born in Anfield and with a strong corporate background. Please do feel free to call or email me if you have any further questions. I look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks for considering my application.

Representing Away game attending supporters: Les Wright
Born: 1964
Lives: Waterloo, Liverpool

Why I wanted to represent this group: I started following liverpool in 1971 and have been a season ticket holder since 1984. Attended Paris EC final as first European Away, and will fly to Prague in Feb 2011 to attend my 55th European Away tie. I regularly attend domestic away games and would be known by most of the two groups above. I first became known by the club officials in 2005 when it became apparent that insufficient safety advise had been provided by the club to those travelling independently to Juventus away. I dealt directly with Bryce Morrison who listened and acted by posting relevant info on the club website. At this match we witnessed the worst pre match violence since Heysel. Designated areas, an alcohol ban and free coaches for our fans were organised through the dialogue with Bryce. Not one of our fans were injured on a night of extreme violence in Turin. In the years preceeding 2005 i provided a fans perspective at all Liverpool away games and was the fan in the stand for 2 seasons for Radio City. Over the last two seasons i have acted as an advisor to the club regarding certain issues. I personally emailed Ian Ayre to persuade him not to abolish the fan loyalty for this season. He listened to my views and re-instated the fancard loyalty for away games. The starkest recent event involving myself and Lfc was my report to Ian Ayre on the night our 2 fans were stabbed and assulted in Naples. I gave the club names and details of those injured. I also arranged a meeting between senior club officials and the injured parties to resolve areas of discontent. I personally persuaded the lads not to talk to the national press until they had met with the club and a resolution was achieved. During my association with the club, i have been involved in different areas of media directly relating to Liverpool FC. I write occasionally for a fanzine called Red all over the Land, and had a four page feature article written about me for the Swedish eqivalent of "The Observer" My "coup de grace" was seeing an unrelated article on David Beckam at the bottom of my fourth page!! Moving to more recent times i am an occasional guest on LFCTV and have been on twice this season. I also receive corporate invitations to fly with the team to European Away Games. and have done so over the last 4 years, but choose to use this as a treat rather than the norm. My company (supply chain solution ltd), are members of The Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, actively supports the 23 foundation and Marina Dalglish charities through attendance at Gala Dinners and donations etc I believe i have all the right attributes to fulfil this role as a fans & club ambassador. I have proved that i can represent both the fans and the clubs interests whilst remaining an inclusive and respected part of the process. I assure you of my best attention at all times. Les Wright

Representing Family Supporters: Janet Brown OBE
Born: 1955
Lives: Childwall, Liverpool

Why I wanted to represent this group: I have supported Liverpool for more years than I care to remember, and as I have moved through life have gone from going to most matches when single, to bringing my children when I could afford and watching the TV when I could not (they are now all Liverpool fans in their own right) to being able to go to more matches with friends and family , and now as circumstance have changed with circumstances and the difficulty of my own disability and the additional challenges of bringing my twin 7 year old twin granddaughters (who live with me) and my oldest daughter who has learning difficulties . I have had a career as a police officer for over 20 years , and am school governor. I am interested in how Liverpool FC can work not only as a beacon for our great city, (especially at the moment) provide the most amazing entertainment but truly reach out into the community as I think the club has an even greater potential to do. I think that greater inclusion of family and disabled people who follow or would like to follow LFC as well as working with the community on many different levels is key to this if we are going to build for the next generation, and make Liverpool FC the true heart of Liverpool. I would bring not only my experience as a supporter, and a Scouse, a mother nana and someone like many others who has developed a disability, but also the mother of a young woman who has had lifelong learning difficulties. I also have many years of experience at local and government level both the UK and abroad focused problem solving in the community, partnership working, working with large organisations, and reducing alcohol related harm and using social norms in the community. I am an honoury lecturer for Liverpool John Moores University, and an honoury fellow of The University of Montana both of whom I have worked with for a number of years on a variety of projects. I am on the World Health Organisation panel of experts for prevention of alcohol related injury , member of the Institute of Licensing and have worked with a number of national organisations and government organisations including Home Office and Cabernet Office, where I have worked on policy and have written and developed national programs as well as having lectured on best practice both here and abroad. I worked with the mayor of Chicago office in Chicago on better management of the night time economy there a number of times from 2004-2006 I was awarded an OBE for my work in 2005 and would love to use my experience to help the football club I love.

Representing: LGBT Supporters (Fans from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities): Paul Amann
Born: 1968
Lives: Mossley Hill, Liverpool

Why I wanted to represent this group: I am a lifelong LFC fan. I periodically watch matches at Anfield and regularly follow the match on TV and radio. I regularly meet with other LGBT LFC supporters and understand their issues, needs and concerns. I am chair of Mersey Marauders Football Club (MMFC), the Gay Football Supporters Network (GFSN) club for this area. In 2008 I organised the GFSN National Tournament in Liverpool which was widely acknowledged as the best to date. This comprised a weekend of 5-a-side for 32 teams with an official welcome event at Liverpool Town Hall presided over by the then Lord Mayor, Cllr Steve Rotheram. In 2010 and 2011, I have organised events to mark football vs homophobia as part of the Justin Campaign. For 3 years, I have organised matches between MMFC and Merseyside Police which have improved relations and supported confidence in hate crime reporting. On 17 October 2010, I organised for MMFC players and their BAPs (boyfriends and partners), wearing MMFC kit to bring football to the Bed In at the Bluecoat in Liverpool. This was to watch the derby match in bed and highlight that football is watched and played by LGBT people who have every right to enjoy the beautiful game as anyone else. This helped create a dialogue among football fans of all backgrounds and raised the issue of eliminating homophobia in football. This included a debate with Louisa Jones of the University of Central Lancashire about homophobia in football which was live web cast to much interest and positive response. Ahead of this, I was interviewed by Sean Styles of BBC Radio Merseyside in a live debate about this unique Bed In at the Blue Coat. In 2008, as part of Homotopia and Capital of Culture, I participated in a panel debate at Hope University about homophobia in sport. In 2009, I spoke with representatives of EFC and LFC to a fringe meeting of the TUC about homophobia in football. I am an active member of the LGB&T Network which represents the interests of LGBT communities of Liverpool. I have a responsibility to these communities to effectively represent them and communicate back with them about appropriate developments. I was instrumental in the development of Liverpool Pride in 2010, coordinating the contribution of Liverpool City Council. This included a Pride Sports Day affording LGBT communities the opportunity to participate in sports. I am a co-author of Liverpool's Anti-homophobic Bullying Strategy. I am an honorary life member of Liverpool's Guild of Students for my contributions to the equalities agenda of the university. I recognise and applaud the achievements of football and LFC in particular in addressing issues of sectarianism and racism using resources such as Show Racism the Red Card, and Kick it Out. I look forward to supporting LFC to consider similar approaches in addressing homophobia. I am used to working in committee structures and am passionate to ensure that LFC improves its engagement with communities and help make supporting LFC a more inclusive experience for all

Representing Female Fans (To address issues specific to women): Samantha Armstrong
Born: 1967
Lives: Formby, Liverpool

Why I wanted to represent this group: As, I am sure, with the majority of fans applying for positions on the committee I am a lifelong Liverpool supporter and have been attending matches with family and friends since I was 7 years old. I now attend with my daughter who has been brought up in what I consider to be the Liverpool Way. As a single mother the challenge of supporting Liverpool has been huge, ticket prices, travel and other costs have meant making sacrifices and missing games but following Liverpool is my life and the people I have met following the Reds are my extended family. As a female following football, the challenges have been just as great, but in a traditionally male orientated world, the numbers of female fans have increased dramatically over recent years and it is only fair that they have representation on the committee as there are many issues that affect them. The main credentials I feel I have for applying for the post include my current job as Head of Marketing and Creative at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk. I recognise the need for transparency and an open dialogue with customers to ensure their needs and expectations are not just met, but surpassed. I feel I have the communication skills to be able to relay information to fans within my specific area of interest and to answer questions posed in a clear, concise and structured way. Understanding customers and their concerns and needs is an important part of delivering a seamless service. In addition to my paid employment I have also worked voluntarily for the Liverpool Supporters' Union, Spirit of Shankly, for the past three years. I am responsible for the marketing and memberships of the organisation and this has given me first hand experience of responding to Liverpool fans about a variety of issues. Realising that there are many points of view it has taken tact and diplomacy, especially with fans who have not always supported the aims of SOS. Speaking to fans on a daily basis via email and forums has given me an insight into the passion that many fans have but it has also provided me with information about the number of issues raised by fans have and the lack of engagement they can sometimes feel with the Club. I have also seen the value of having an organisation that treats its members as individuals, addressing specific issues and allowing lines of communication to open up and seeing issues through to successful resolution. The recent ownership issues saw fans feeling disenfranchised from a Club that relies on its fans and I would very much like to see the new sense of unity that is evident continue and I think I could contribute to this in a worthwhile and productive way given my experience. I believe the Supporters Committee will offer an effective route for fans to air concerns and issues in relation to particular areas and I would very much like to be a part of that.

Representing International fans: Nasser Aboobakar
Born: 1960
Lives: Singapore

Why I wanted to represent this group: First and foremost, I've been a true RED fan through and through since I was a teenager watching the games on the tele in Hong Kong when I was a student. That was a time when Liverpool were managed by the legendary Bill Shankly and had some great players like Kevin Keegan, John Toshack, Tommy Smith, Emyln Hughes, Alan Hansen, Ray Clemence and so on. Those were the early 70s while there were no live telecasts but the delayed matches were shown on TV couple of days later and I would eagerly await those precious moments after school. I waited for the weekend football results on the morning newspaper on Sunday (games were played only on Saturdays in those days) and the following day at school would discuss the scores as well as the games with other classmates some of whom were opposition supporters. Of course just like any teenagers they would heated arguments about skills of individual player and which was the best team. During my adult days I indirectly contributed to the local supporters group in Malaysia when I donated a computer in the early 90's for publishing the (supporter's) magazine. To this day, I retain some of the issues as collection and memories. I would be happy to share with you some of copies for reference if required. In Singapore where I live for the past five odd years, I assisted with the membership section in building the local fan base for the official supporters club. I also was part of the team that assisted in the organisation of the fans during the official visit of the Liverpool Football Club team to Singapore in Jul 2009. If appointed to the role being a representative of the LFC Supporters Committee (International Fan), I believe I'll be able to galvanize fans in the respective supporter club in APAC which is the fastest growth for the fan base. There is new generation of fans (ie. my children's and their children) who have not seen or tasted success as I have seen in the 70s or 80s. They deserve someone who understands the Liverpool Football Club culture, tradition and history, and to be able to relate and promote the club in the manner it deserves. Having been in management (including sales and marketing), there is also a huge market for the clubs merchandise in APAC which at the moment is lacking in this region. I believe I can assist and offer ideas as well to promote LFC brand. Having served in committee in other organisaions, being a RED fan, who is "born a red, live a red and will die a red" will delighted to serve the committee to the best of my ability in the interest of the Liverpool Football Club and it's supporters. I will be able to provide any references if required. Best regards Nasser Aboobakar

Why I wanted to represent this group: CHARLIE GEORGE...YOU MADE ME THE MAN I AM TODAY!..Well not exactly, but you did play a part. Oh yes lie there on the ground with your arms out-stretched in all your post FA cup goal glory. That's right destroy the dream of a 5 year old, who was still wondering why so many people had gathered at the house, family, cousins, friends, neighbours.. people I knew and some I didn't. But oh yes Mr. George...what an impact you made. The 1971 FA Cup is still my earliest childhood memory. I don't know why I can't recall anything prior to this point and why I sauntered off desperately miserable at the loss kicking stones across the road, scarf tied around my wrist, (conflicting very nice with the white corduroy flares) but obviously seeing a whole room of grown-ups cry had a profound effect and from that point the tears of loss and of course tears of Joy have continued for 40 years since that cathartic event. Born in Liverpool in 1966, we moved to the overspill town of Winsford soon after (I guess this initially made me an international fan) and then in 1991 I moved to Toronto Canada residing here for past 20 years. It is for this reason that I'm applying to be LFC's representative for the international category. I have travelled to many parts of the world and extensively throughout the US and there is no other team or group of supporters that can hold a candle to us. From a shy 15 year old that come of age at the Parc de Prince when Barney Rubble set us on our path to glory to watching Owen for the last time against Porto in my adopted home town of Toronto in 2005, our fans are the most knowledgeable, humorous and gracious the world has ever known. But we have known that for many years...I guess it's about time, we let the world know. A bit about me, first and foremost, love Liverpool FC and love Football. Educated at Sheffield Hallam University, for the past 25 years, worked in Real estate as a chartered surveyor and soon will be running my own company in Toronto....Redmore Properties (no guesses how that name was derived). I have played soccer all my life, still do and I coach two teams, a U14 Rep Team at Toronto High Park FC and 3 years ago I started Special needs soccer program for Intellectually Challenged kids. The program is called Everyone Wins - Soccer for Kids with Special needs and can be found at www.thpfc.com . I love the challenge and have always given back to my professional associations and community...let me help you give back to the fans. I served as the Founding Chairman of RICS Canada in 2000 and was the Chair of the North American RICS Ethics and Standards group that would screen professional experts into the association. I would relish the opportunity of representing LFC as a Fan committee member and would work tirelessly on my travels meeting as many groups and responding individually to all written request.

Representing Ethnic Minority Supporters: Abu Nasir
Born: 1974
Lives: Luton

Why I wanted to represent this group: I am 36 years old and have been a passionate Liverpool fan since the age of 7 and was one of a few supporters from an ethnic minority background who regularly attended Liverpool matches with my father during the 1980's. I live in Luton but have always attended Liverpool matches during the past 29 years and my way of life has been based around football and Liverpool FC. I am a graduate and have studied Public Policy & Management, Political Science and an MBA and have a number of skills gained through my employment, voluntary and charity work. I have worked in senior management in local government, advisor to a number of Government departments and ministers, the football association and UEFA on issues ranging from tackling inequality and social exclusion, regeneration and economic development, community cohesion, tackling racism in football and development of players, coaches and administrators in football from ethnic minority backgrounds. I believe I have a number of skills which will help me to represent fans on the LFC Supporters Committee which includes vast amounts of knowledge on football in particularly Liverpool FC which I have studied as a hobby since childhood and aware of the issues fans have faced over the years and feel I can act as a conduit between fans and the club very effectively through my knowledge and experience gained over 20 years at community, political and corporate level and my enthusiasm, dedication, energy and diplomatic skills. I feel I will be able to bring in the positive impact that ethnic minority fans can have on Liverpool including grassroots development, create linkages and partnership with individuals and organisations who can bring social and economic benefits to the club such as cohesion, sponsorship, investment and overall commercial success through my links at national and international level particularly the middle east and indian sub continent. I have experience on representing ethnic minority groups in government and previously the FA through representation as a board member on various committees, FA Race Equality Adivsory Group which I lobbied and campaigned for many years which came to fruition in 2007. I was one of the key lobbyist's and campaigners which led to the development of the Kick Racism out of Football initiative. I am currently a Trustee and Treasurer of Urban Forum which is the umbrella body for 900 community & voluntary sector groups in England and represent communities from all parts of the country to help influence government policy. I have experience and good working relationship with a range of stakeholders including supporters through my involvement with Share Liverpool FC, Spirit of Shankly, LFC BME Supporters Group which has been informal to date, the FA and UEFA, Supporters Direct and Central Government. My voluntary work includes coaching my local Under 8s football team, community work, raising significant funding for charities (£5m to date), school governor and Member of the FA REAG, County FA and Kick it Out Campaigner and Mentor. In the past I have played football semi professionally, had a trial for Liverpool, England U16's and possess a UEFA B Licence coaching badge. I hope you are able to give me the opportunity to represent my beloved club on the committee and the loyal fans who I have enjoyed many years of memories at Anfield with and help take the club forward both on and off the pitch. I have demonstrable experience as a national campaigner and representative of BME communities and one of the active members who works and liases with Liverpool FC's ethnic minority fans already on an informal basis and being a representative on other areas at a national level will give me a head start on representing our fans.

Representing Disabled Supporters: Jeanette Dodd
Born: 1960
Lives: Ellesmere Port, Wirral

Why I wanted to represent this group: Born and brought up in West Derby, Liverpool, I am a lifelong LFC supporter who has attended football matches at Anfield since I was a young girl. I have also attended football matches, at various levels, across the leagues, nationally and in Europe. Due to the onset of muscular dystrophy, for the past twelve years I have attended, first as an ambulant disabled supporter, and then as a wheelchair-user, so have first hand experience of being both a non-disabled and a disabled football supporter. I fully agree with the statement that Liverpool Football Club exists to win trophies and that the supporters are fundamental to any success. Having read through the initial and longer term aims of the supporters' consultation group, I am happy to give my commitment to the objectives of the committee. Furthermore, I firmly believe that supporter consultation can play a vital role in shaping the club's future, enabling an open discussion of the issues that most affect the various fans groups represented. The group I would wish to represent is disabled supporters. I have been involved with the Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association (LDSA) for six years, serving as a committee member for four years. In 2007 I became Chair of the LDSA and played a key part in the promotion and progress of the association in all its aspects, including helping LFC to better understand the issues that concerned disabled football fans. I was involved in giving feedback to LDSA members and providing updates at fans forums, by email and post. I fully understand the responsibility and duty involved in liaising with disabled supporters and serving their interests in meetings with the Club and the owners. In May 2009 I stood down as Chair of the LDSA to take up a role as Secretary of the National Association of Disabled Supporters (NADS) and as a Founding Partner with the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE). I have presented at a number of disability events and represented disabled supporters on key panels and advisory groups. Having established my national and European roles, I rejoined the LDSA as a committee member in September 2010. Working with the LDSA, NADS and CAFE has given me a wealth of expertise in accessible facilities and services across all the disability groups for disabled fans, and how clubs can increase their business and revenue through simple improvements. Disabled people are loyal supporters and worthwhile customers and will often bring along family and friends as new customers. I work as a Principal Planner for a local authority, leading on Accessibility Strategy and I have professional membership of the Access Association. This has given me in-depth knowledge of pan-disability inclusion within the community. I feel that my knowledge, skills and experience will prove invaluable to the LFC Supporters' Committee. At all levels and in all areas I have always represented football supporters with the utmost professionalism and I am sure, if selected, I would be an effective and efficient committee member.
