LFC v Chavski match thread

Seriously...
Chelsea are bypassing our midfield with ease. The hell are they doing in defence.
Our back line is in constant pressure. I really hope this half ends without us conceding another.
They weren't for half an hour, Mourinho has put them more like one on one to close down the space we enjoyed through Can & Rodgers hasn't reacted.

Lovren jut isn't good, is he?

He's a good player all right - last season wasn't a figment of the imagination. Unfortunately for him and for all of us, he's come into a defence which was pants last season as well as this, and which has dragged him down to their level. The difference this season is that we don't have the get-out-of-jail card of the SAS up front.

Pretty much, but we're not closing them down. Gerrard is supposed to be the first line of defence, I haven't seen him make a single tackle.

Two things standing out like site thumbs.

1. It is quite simply staggering how deep we defend. Skrtel's the primary culprit. I spent most of that 45 minutes screaming at him. Get the fuck up the fucking ground. Costa has zero pace, he's not going to beat you in a sprint, you don't need to sit in the 6 yard box. Move up the fucking pitch.

2. I have had just about enough of Jordan Henderson. How has he contrived to fly under the fucking radar this season? He offers fuck all. Apart from running. He runs a lot. Shit touch, crap in tight situations, offers absolutely zero going forward, just runs. And runs. Get him off the cunting pitch.

Hazard just breezing through the midfield and Gerrard time and time again. We either need to get Hendo/ Can tighter with Stevie or replace Stevie.

Loved the start and Coutinho's work rate. It is something I generally comment on but i'd rather Coutinho ran his legs off in the first half as part of our quick starts a la last season and had to be subbed after 60 mins than give 90 mins of Meh.

Coutinho and Can the most impressive for me. Sterling looking a bit more like Raheem of last season. You can tell he is adjusting to the lack of movement ahead of him still though. He is probably looking forward to Studge returning more than anyone else!

Do you not remember last season and the amount of through balls/ assists he was making?!

The reason why our defence is so deep is probably because they don't trust the midfield. We're not winning anything in the middle.

I'm with you on point 2. Nothing is happening for him. But I bet that Rodgers isn't seeing this. He's gonna sub Can for Allen or something.

Not sure if we tired or just lost concentration but the intensity dropped out of our play around the 30 minute mark. Gave them acres of space in the middle third, let them get in between the lines far too easily.

Need Skrtel to keep his calm cause I think Costa will do something silly and get sent so long as Skrtel can keep his own cool.

Lovren looks uncomfortable but, to be fair, our movement died around 25 - 30 minutes which made everyone in the back third look unsure of themselves.

I'd be comfortable with Chelsea dominating this match and us nicking a goal through a Sterling, Coutinho or Mario break.

Also, Johnson, Moreno, Can and Coutinho have been great - particularly the Brazilian. Mario hasn't been quite the same level but he's been working much harder.

Well the first 20 minutes were good.
Lovren needs to be whacked off fairly pronto he makes Phill Babb look like Alessandro Nesta.
Awful.
Ming just can't seem to control his feet and looks a nervous wreck.
Coutinho and Sterling have been good.
One awful pass aside Johnson has done quite well.
Skrtel has done well also and I hope he smacks Costa good looking.
The ref has been shocking too.

Who the fuck is saying Johnson has been shite? Numerous important blocks and has done really well for me. One misplaced pass and he's shite it seems

Gerrard has been fucking woeful

Can, Balotelli and Coutinho have been great

Watch out for me in the 2nd half as I'm gonna run on the pitch and fucking spark that grandad face who plays upfront for them.

Did Balotelli get Terry earlier BTW? It looked like it from where I am. GWAN MARIO.

Gerrard wastes no time lambasting his team-mates but says fuck all to the Ref about opposing players making foul after foul. He's the Captain ffs...man up Stevie.

Too many excuses, there-- one season does not a career make. By the way, that works both ways.

What Handball?

Surely not the one that hit his shoulder from close range?

There was an incident when he led unnecessarily with his arm as he leaned into a ball which was quite a bit lower than his shoulder. If we're talking about the same incident, we clearly didn't see it the same way.
