That’s bananas to not have Gerrard in for that reason and not Suárez.

Gerrard mostly didn't play this decade. His last year and a bit he was a shadow of himself. So, in a way, I get it.
But just think about the nature of this discussion. We've got Fabinho in based on one season, and a mostly past-it Gerrard, who retired halfway through, heavily in the discussion. Then, we've got Firmino in as an AM with Suarez, who wouldn't play together.
I think we'd have a league title this decade, if we had a better answer to this question. Our midfield is OK. Its got players like Wijnaldum that can look world class sometimes, and its got a lot of very good hard workers. We need SOME of those.

Gerrard for Bobby is a no brainer.
I’d have Milner in ahead of Henderson.
I guess Masher wouldn’t count - Carragher for Matip seems fair.
Strong benching choose from too - Torres, Sterling, Coutinho, Sturridge, Reina, Henderson, Kuyt, Agger, Bobby, Can, Glen Johnson, Matip, Skrtl....

Gerrard played 190 times this decade for us, scoring 60 times. He also had countless assists not to mention a great habit of scoring against Utd and Everton including a hat trick. He was the leagues top assists man captained us to a league cup win and was instrumental is getting us so close in 13/14 finishing as the leagues best goal creator.
He simply has to be in the team.
May as well call it last season's European Cup winning team, plus Suarez.

Yeah, I wish a faded Gerrard didn't HAVE to, was my point. Because it would say something about our midfield now.

The Reina that ate all the chorizo and got fat? No way would that version get ahead of Allison. Every shot that was hit hard and on target would fly past him as if he wasn't there.
