[/quote]I think the ideal would be what United have done. Add a couple of thousand seats a year and that pays for itself without impacting revenues. If its do-able at anfield i dont know, but being as there IS room around the ground and all the houses on one side are derelict and boarded up i cant see why it couldnt be worked out. 50k seats by next year, 55k by 2012 etc.

not really, as long as the option of extending anfield is properly explored first, although it would be a bit weird playing in a permanent reminder of his regime even if we have to admit that the design is actually very good.

anyway, i thought his defence of their record on the stadium issue was pathetic: 'we said 60 days because that's what we thought it would be'. so it would've been impossible for him to have examined the plans for the stadium pre-purchase then? they were only one of the key assets of the club's future, after all - what he was basing his whole investment on. just shows the ridiculous, aggressive haste in buying the club, and how completely he deserved to lose his money.

and then he admits that somehow he was poor at sensitively communicating with LFC fans, and that he's saddened by that, and right after he cites an article by alex fucking ferguson, of all people, backing his spending at the club. unbelievable.

incidentally, can anyone confirm whether gillett actually lost any money on the deal? it seems he get off scott-free by forfeiting his shares to mill financial, right?

Yeah, they said that recently, which I think is grossly unfair on the club.

We're not a charity, we're a business, whose own self interest has to become before the need of the 'community', because that's how business works.

I think gillette defaulted on his loans so forfeited his shares, I don't think he made money out of the deal.

I think the new stadium 'is' better for us in a business sense as we would be able to build more corparate boxes which would make us more money.
