that sky reporter was rubbish. the questions were so pro hicks I almost (almost) felt sorry for him.

here's a question tom; you said you wouldn't 'do a glazer' so why did you 'do a glazer'?
you mean to tell me had there been no credit crunch you wouldn't have loaded the debt on the club?
Good question, Neil.

Have you been practising?

Re: LFC SOLD to NESV! (We know this as the fat man's been stung)

would people have problem with using hicks' designs for the new stadium?

Re: LFC SOLD to NESV! (We know this as the fat man's been stung)

Not really a good day at the office for Hicks was it. I wonder if he's told his wife yet?

He looked in shock in that interview, the tears will come at a later date i think.

No, it would save us a lot of money and time using the same plans, but from what they've said so far the owners will want to spend the next 6 months weighing up all the options before deciding.

They plans cost us £30M, so if a new stadium is the desired option, I think it would be prudent to use them.

which is fair enough. I also have no problem with using what is essentially hicks' legacy, it cost us enough.

Re: LFC SOLD to NESV! (We know this as the fat man's been stung)

Tom is definitely a bit of a sociopath - moved from bully to victim very quickly..

Fair enough Rafa cost us a lot in bad purchases (but other managers make bad buys too)

Failing to qualify for the CL was a big deal financially, but ironically it's probably helped get rid of G and H..

He fails to see how his quest for a great price brought us to the brink of bankruptcy...you just can't load that amount of debt on a club, especially when you said you wouldn't. 40M last year in fecking interest payments? "A little bit too much debt"? Come on

But

Some positives from the G and H era...and loathe as I am to admit it, there is stuff to build on

1. CL Final 2007 and Second Place 09
2. Improved Commercial performance off the field.
3. Standard Chartered deal
4. Fernando Torres
5. But that's about it..

Re: LFC SOLD to NESV! (We know this as the fat man's been stung)

If we build a stadium. The club will have to have debt put on it. That means many many more years of profit paying interest. We should sack off the idea of a new stadium and use our 30-40m a year PROFIT to invest in new players.
Fuck spending 10 years paying off the cost of a stadium. Throw an extra tier on the Annie road stand and move the fuck on.

Re: LFC SOLD to NESV! (We know this as the fat man's been stung)

You know it. What about the gap between the kop and the mainstand?

Would the albert survive if they built there?

Hicks owns the rights to that stadium.

how is that possible when we foot the bill of the designs?

Re: LFC SOLD to NESV! (We know this as the fat man's been stung)

Wow, what a surprise. After 5 years of everyone claiming that we needed to move into a new stadium, and three years calling H and G cunts for not building one, all of a sudden it's fine if NSEV don't want to build one.

Bellends

This is the real debate left now; Expectations from the new owners.

Given some of the football we've seen this season I'd like to agree with you. But deep down I know we need a new stadium - not just for the extra fans we need to squeeze in, but primarily to maximise the commercial use of the stadium, which fucking sucks, but it is what it is.

Before Hicks, Gillett and Benitez turned us into a midtable club we could have filled a bigger stadium. We probably can't now.
What? We arent selling out our current stadium Brendan. We should have moved when we were. Lets get fucking out the relegation zone before spunking 300m on a new stadium and putting us back to square 1.

at least 70-100m of the stadium should be naming rights, the rest should be a long term loan with the security being the stadium itself.
also the fans groups could do worse than putting the money they raise towards the stadium, hopefully for a set on the board.
When plans to build the stadium where originally muted under Moores, it was at a time when the club outspending everyone was the club with the biggest stadium (Manchester United) football isnt what it was now the big spenders are the clubs with owners with limitless funds (and stadiums smaller than ours). I dont see how having 65k seats is suddenly going to sort us out. We need to start again. We are no longer in 300m of debt, we can build from here.

Re: LFC SOLD to NESV! (We know this as the fat man's been stung)

I think we'll find a way of building up Anfield. We'll fill a 60,000 seater no sweat.
