NESV purchase of LFC done. Hicks threatening to sue as he deems it to be illegal. Fuck off Mr Hicks!

I doubt he has a leg to stand on , the cunt

Re: LFC not yet sold to NESV (but we're getting there, maybe...)

My guess is that RBS, Broughton, Purslow and Ayre would never have been stupid enough to do anything illegal with regards to the sale as Hick's was going to sue no matter they did. They knew that, so would would have been extra careful.

I can see the light and it's getting brighter 🙂

Re: LFC not yet sold to NESV (but we're getting there, maybe...)

I'm SO SO made up. Amazing stuff.

Like Istanbul in a court room.

Re: LFC not yet sold to NESV (but we're getting there, maybe...)

Right !! I'm off - first beers in JLA await !!!

Re: LFC not yet sold to NESV (but we're getting there, maybe...)

There were reports yesterday that a condition of the sale was that NESV indemnify the board members against future legal costs. If that's right, any afters now will effectively become a dispute between Hicks and NESV, possibly also RBS. John Henry will have known that Hicks would get nasty and has still stuck by the deal, so he's clearly confident of the outcome of Hicks' attempt to sue. Meanwhile LFC itself will hopefully not be directly affected.

Touch wood, it's looking good.

Re: LFC not yet sold to NESV (but we're getting there, maybe...)

owen_g RBS waiting for receipt of £200m to confirm sale to NESV. Nearly there. Though the legal aftershocks will continue for some time. #LFC

"Epic Swindle", so says the man who has made his fortune out of leveraged buy-outs.

The thing is Tom as you know you win some and you lose some, on this one you lost, and if you had sold to Sheik Maktoum some months ago you could have walked away with a nice profit and much less grief.

Re: LFC not yet sold to NESV (but we're getting there, maybe...)

Hah, brave front from Hicks. If he has plans to sue, he had better hope they have good legal aid in Dallas. Not sure if his attorneys are going to act pro bono for him, cos my understanding from the papers is that he's a bankrupt now with the loss of his only remaining asset.

Re: LFC not yet sold to NESV (but we're getting there, maybe...)

So can anybody clarify on the final amount paid by NESV to secure ownership?

How much of that was paid to RBS and what H&G got out(how much do they stand to lose) of this?

Re: LFC not yet sold to NESV (but we're getting there, maybe...)

I can see some hillbilly incestuous court finding in Hicks' favour.

What a fair offer is was always going to be subjective, so if Hicks is leaning on a judge saying that he didn't think that 300m was enough, and that he could pay the debt off by the 15th, he will win damages.

Re: LFC SOLD to NESV! (We know this as the fat man's been stung)

Update 7:58 a.m.: The judge has ordered: the TRO has been dissolved, per both parties wishes, and the motion for contempt has been withdrawn. The judge summed up the proceedings thusly: "It's been an interesting two days." To say the least. I'll have more quotes forthcoming, but essentially, says George Bramlet, "Hicks and Gillett have demonstrated record of gamesmanship in these proceedings and those in England." Hicks's attorney has reiterated that there has been no sale to Mills Financial.

Isn't he likely to have a personal bankroll stashed away somewhere, not vulnerable to business creditors?

Re: LFC SOLD to NESV! (We know this as the fat man's been stung)

NESV have shown some serious desire to own us.

I'm feelign really positive about the takeover.

The burden of proof on him in that respect will be considerable, not least in the light of those comments about gamesmanship etc.from the Texas court today.

Doubt it. It's probably not printable.

Re: LFC SOLD to NESV! (We know this as the fat man's been stung)

What is it about these people in power, they forget how to be honest, tell the truth...shameless in their sociopathy

A statement from Hicks and Gillett's camp read: ''It's an extraordinary swindle and it will result in exactly the wrong thing for the club and the fans.''

Steve Stodghill, the Texas attorney representing the duo, added: ''This outcome not only devalues the club but it also will result in long-term uncertainty for the fans, players and everyone who loves this sport because all legal recourses will be pursued.

''Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett pledged to pay the debt to RBS so that the club could avoid administration that was threatened by RBS. That offer was rejected.

''It is a tragic development that others will claim as a victory. This means it won't be resolved the way it should be resolved. My clients worked tirelessly to resolve these issues but RBS would not listen to any reasonable solution and the directors acted selfishly and illegally.

''Mr. Hicks and Mr. Gillett wanted to position this club for the future, but others have a different agenda. In truth, there is nothing positive from these events for Liverpool Football [Club]. That is exactly the opposite of what my clients wanted to achieve.''

Hicks and Gillett withdraw TRO blocking sale of Liverpool Football Club. Action prevents RBS from needlessly putting Club into administration. RBS rejected owners' pledge to pay off all debts by October 15. Attorneys say ludicrous, self-serving and illegal behavior from directors and outsiders to hinder Club for years.

"It's an extraordinary swindle and it will result in exactly the wrong thing for the Club and the fans."

Those were the words used by attorneys representing Liverpool Football Club owners this morning when they announced they would apply all of their legal energies toward securing at least $1.6 billion in damages they expect will result from the proposed illegal sale of the Liverpool Football Club.

Attorneys also stated that protracted litigation concerning the Liverpool transaction will now cause even more uncertainty for the LFC.

"This outcome not only devalues the Club but it also will result in long-term uncertainty for the fans, players and everyone who loves this sport because all legal recourses will be pursued," said Steve Stodghill, the Texas attorney representing the Liverpool owners. "Mr. Hicks and Mr. Gillett pledged to pay the debt to RBS so that the Club could avoid administration that was threatened by RBS. That offer was rejected. It is a tragic development that others will claim as a victory. This means it won't be resolved the way it should be resolved. My clients worked tirelessly to resolve these issues but RBS would not listen to any reasonable solution and the Directors acted selfishly and illegally."

Stodghill said the owners have no choice but to pursue every legal avenue possible, and they will.

"Mr. Hicks and Mr. Gillett wanted to position this club for the future, but others have a different agenda," said Stodghill. "In truth, there is nothing positive from these events for Liverpool Football. That is exactly the opposite of what my clients wanted to achieve. "
