Let’s take them up the Arsenal

(Ignore Ramsdale over Ali, which is clearly the most asinine choice one could possibly imagine.)

It's obvious he doesn't watch our games. Salah's only good game this season was United. Even 9-0 Bournemouth he was a shadow of himself.

I think he’s been generous.

If it’s on this seasons form - it would be Alisson plus 10 Arsenal players.

Mo & Virg are in there on their reputation only.

If it’s based on each player at their best - there’s fuck all Arsenal players getting in - the big whopping one season wonder bottle merchant fuckfaces.

Mo is there because he has 12 league goals, which is the same as Saka even though 2 of Sakas are penalties. This narrative that Salah has become an awful player is trash, he's gone from exceptional to merely very good. He's got 23 goals and 11 assists this season. Who is doing better than that from the same position? Mahrez, Kulusevski, Sterling, Anthony? Nope

Same applies to VVD too

I didn’t say Mo was shit - but his goals don’t tell the whole story of his performances this season and on this seasons basis only, I’d have Saka on the right instead of him.

I also wouldn’t be shoeing Mo into the centre - so I think my point is fair.

Bobby has scored more league goals than Gabriel Jesus this season - does that mean he’s having a better season than him?

Yeah my combined team had Saka over Mo for his team contribution. I still had 5 LFC players though. They haven't all been shit all season and the Arse players haven't all been brilliant.

The OTT rhetoric gets a bit out of hand on here at times.

Which 5?

Alisson, yes, Virgil probably - but on this seasons form I’m struggling for any others.

if it was based on the last 3 seasons or so - a couple of Arsenal players might make the bench…

Ali without a doubt, who in their right mind would pick anyone over the world's #1 keeper.
I still like Trent over any Arsenal option. With a real defence and midfield he'd shine again.
Gabriel and VvD at the back. Same again, even not at his best VvD is still better than anything they've got.
Zinchenko at LB though Tierney would work too.

Midfield it's Odegaard, Partey and Thiago (yes I know he hasn't played much but the other option is Xhaka, ugh).

Upfront I've gone Saka, Jesus and Nunez (over Martinelli though that's a toss up for me but I've gone for Nunez's pace and unpredictability, he'd be great with Jesus).

Salah has lost so much pace, I think it was against city where he couldn't out run an average (I think a) LB which forced him to scuff the shot. Regardless he is our best striker.

I hate these combined 11s. However, other than Ali, no one from our squad gets into theirs including Salah

Trent, I could be persuaded by having a decent defence and string midfield to cover.

Thiago’s been a shadow of himself when he has played this season - his passing and ball retention has been so off - so I probably couldn’t agree with you there even if it’s better support allowing him more freedom.

Nunez… nah - I don’t think he gets into our team on the left let alone a joint team - I’d have Diaz ahead of him even though he’s spent most of the season injured.

Do you ever read what you have typed?

Since the last Diogo Jota’s goal for Liverpool (10th April 2022) Darwin Nunez has scored against Liverpool (13th April), signed for Liverpool and has scored 14 goals in all competitions for them

For me, this is the biggest issue we have up top ATM.

Savage banter.

A bunch of posts going around comparing young talent like Trent, Saka, Martinelli, Diaz from both sides, highlighting their relative accomplishments by age.

I think this should stop the discussion.

I find the whole comparison of players thing so fucking boring and facile.

Like, the combined arsenal vs liverpool team thing. So last year 80% of the team, in a reactionary way, would be Liverpool players. Now it's all Arsenal players. Because Arsenal are playing well, and we aren't. It's just a stupid tautology.

And Arsenal happened to win an fa cup the year Martinelli joined them. Great. Aubamayang carried them through the meaningful rounds of that tournament and Martinelli didn't even score. He had one assist. He's a great player. If he had come a year later would he have been a worse player? Comfortably though, we must say that he's no Takumi Minamino.

I fully expect to lose to Arsenal. They are a good team in a league that looks pretty fucking shit to me. Their team haven't accomplished anything yet, though, and any sort of wobble happens, and they'll remember that immediately.

Hearing this is the team for tomorrow:

Alisson
Trent
Konate
VVD
Robertson
Henderson
Fabinho
Jones
Salah
Jota
Gakpo

This sort of "banter" has been done umpteen billion times....what's savage about it is the people carrying this on like it means something and yes by people I mean teenage kids having a wank over it.

No disagreements from me. I shared only because I was exceedingly bored and no one else was posting on here.

Even if he was wouldn’t stop Klopp from hauling him off at every opportunity.

Which begs the question Why? Either he doesn't have the conditioning for 90+ mins or he's not able to adapt to the tactics as we rotate players and change things up late in games

I think our best chance to score is from a counterattacking style, but I think that's what play will look like regardless of how we set out to play anyway. Their midfield is just more technical than ours.

This was one of the reasons I deleted my Twitter account. There are so many insanely stupid people that shouldnt be allowed to log on.
For every good post you'd find 100 poor. Happy days not being on there anymore.
