I'm sure you are right. But there has been a lot of discussion about players taking time to settle, especially young players in a different country and culture. From that perspective Lazar has been poorly handled. Played out of position in a struggling side, then moved to another culture and having to acclimatise again. Many of the 2014 summer buys have shown improvement this season. I have little doubt that Lazar would also have fallen into this bracket without the ridiculous loan.

He did seem to make a pretty seamless transition from Partizan Belgrade to Benfica though, where we picked him up from a season later. So adaptation issues didn't seem a problem at least for one case, albeit there wasn't the issue of being played out of position.

How's the Turkish league in terms of the level of hard tackling allowed and the strictness of refereeing? My impression is that they play a physical game there, but I might be wrong. If I'm right though, then I guess his adaptation issues might be because he's just too soft and afraid of hard contact. Maybe it's the clip of him cowering when his opponent went batshit crazy on him that's clouding my opinion.
