Lambert to Villa?

What would serve us better for the next 6 months, a backup striker who can actually score goals and offer an alternative when needed, or £5million sitting in the bank doing nothing? Exactly, I'm glad hes staying.

From journalists?

Not self employed part time mobile phone designers.

And I'd hardly say I'm excited, it's more of a vaguely interested / wondering why anyone would sign someone called Ricky

You wish he was employed full time then?

Praying this happens, don't think it will though. We don't need him, and we'll never see anything like £5m for him again.

£10m for him and Assaidi would be a very decent to the summer budget, and basically for nothing.

Mental that we might get 10M for these two. Gives you some hope we could get something for the Enrique's, Aspas', and Alberto's of the world.

That works if we were to get the same for him in the summer. Problem is, I can't see it. In a more sensible market, with teams able to consider lots more options much more carefully, and without the imminent danger that Villa are in, you'd be looking at more like £2m.

So it's more like £3m plus maybe another £1m in wages.

I'd rather take the money now. If we're reduced to such a state by injuries that we actually miss him, I can guarantee we won't be getting 4th or winning the cup anyway.

Stan Collymore said he'd told the club last week he had no intention of leaving when another club came in.

Said Enrique had done the same too. Dunno if that means we were prepared to let Enrique know or not.

What difference did having him make in the first half of the league?

We could.have stuck some randomer off the street in the squad - we'd be no worse off in the league table, a few million quid richer, and a bit more entertained

We just need to lay a trail of waxing strips and fake tan sprays all the way to Enriques new club and get Suso to stand there in hotpants

I'm not even sure who you're talking about. That Karl lad? Dont think anyone has posted anything he's tweeted for a couple of years now. Its getting old this, you should change the record.

Nnnaaahhh!!!
He was brought in to be the 4th striker, the League Cup striker, the 'finish out a game when we are 3-0 and want to rest our real strikers' striker, and in fairness thats how good he has been, a £4m, 4th best striker at LFC. Unfortunately the supposed 3 better strikers are shit or crocked so he has been thrown in a the deep end. I doubt when the idea of Ricky(that name) coming in was floated last summer there was an expected resale value. He might have the acceleration and turning radius of the QE2 but at the end of his career he looks to still give a shit when he plays, that £4m would not get us an improvement on Lambert. We should carry on freezing out and pushing those other two limp biscuits out the door. £15m+ for Balotelli & Borini plus the Assaidi money will go a long way toward a sneaky, evil but somewhat slick & sexy goal grabbing thug next summer.

Liverpool FC's Rickie Lambert rejects £5m transfer deadline day move to Aston Villa
Villa’s cash offer was attractive considering it would have allowed Liverpool to make a profit on a player who finds himself down the pecking order

Rickie Lambert is staying at Liverpool FC for the rest of the season after rejecting the chance to make a £5million move to Aston Villa on deadline day.
The big frontman could have left Anfield in search of more game time but he has opted to stay and fight for his place.
Having realised a boyhood dream by signing for the Reds in a £4.5million deal from Southampton last summer, Lambert couldn’t bring himself to cut those ties after just eight months.
Earlier in the day the Reds had no intention of off-loading the 32-year-old - rejecting a loan offer from Hull City having also spurned Crystal Palace’s approach earlier in the window.
However, Villa’s cash offer of £5million was attractive considering it would have allowed Liverpool to make a profit on a player who finds himself down the pecking order and only has 16 months left on his contract.
Liverpool informed Lambert of Villa’s interest but the striker weighed up his options before informing Anfield officials he would be staying put.
Lambert has scored three goals in 24 appearances for the Reds this term and was an unused substitute in Saturday’s win over West Ham.

Good. Rodgers needs to learn not to make such dumbass signings. I hope the owners express their collective fury at this reckless wastage of their money.

Yeah, out of our 3 slow non–scoring strikers, Lambert is clearly the most useful one. That's why other clubs are willing to pay real money for him.

I would prefer to keep Lambert and sell our other 2 slow non-scoring strikers.

I don't know, what would Hansern do if that lad had no time to tweet?

I think we need a Twitter level of credibility.

This mobile phone salesman is obviously low down the ranking. Would Barrett sit at the top?

Nah. John Henry's on Twitter, he's gotta be the best source.

Or at least he would be if he ever gave us information.

He started a number of games for us, did well and scored a few goals, I'm not trying to say he's amazing, but he's been decent, and he's more worth to us for the rest of the season than £5million doing nothing in the bank is.

I'm not sure I agree with this.

Short term he hasn't given enough return or looked likely to improve us above giving a more long term option a chance.

Ultimately - the only reason he's here - is because of Sturridges propensity to get injured.

Maybe not, but he still offers us more than money sitting in the bank doing nothing.
