Lambert to Villa?

Can has cost 2 players a total of 7 games this season for assaulting him.
- Shelvey; 4 games (3 + additional 1 for being sent off earlier in the season)
- Costa; 3 games

What an introduction our young handsome stud has had to the league. Had his ankle stepped on, taken a foreman to the face and his mouth has been bloodied by a vicious elbow. He's probably going to pick up a kick in the balls or a knee in the back in one of the next few games. Everyone wants a piece of our prince.

He's the new Xabi Alonso in that regard so. I think Alonso induced five or six red cards in his last season with us.

Maybe not, but he still offers us more than money sitting in the bank doing nothing.

Does he?

How many points better off are we for having him and Balotelli? Is it even two points?

I'd bet 95% of people would rather have the 20m now than the two points (if it's even that much)

This is nothing to do with Balotelli, Lambert offers something different than Balotelli, and the figures are massively different. £5million will likely be £2-4million in the summer for Lambert, in his time here, he has scored a couple of goals, and will probably give us a few more, he also offers us a different option off the bench, and gives us some depth upfront allowing us to rest other players, that's worth more than (being generous here) a £3million difference in value to me. Point is, it's such an insignificant amount of money in footballing terms, I'd rather he's around to be called upon if needed than have a little money for the sake of it, if someone was offering 8 figures, it would be a different story.

I'm guessing zero points is the difference then.

All of those things that Lambert might bring can be brought by someone off the youth team, or even Ryan . And we'd be 5 million better off. That's why we should sell him.

Balotelli and Lambert will be more productive with Sturridge back. Sturridge will open up loads more space for both. I suspect they will be different players in the second half. I would guess Lambert is most likely to increase his impact.

Someone's contribution to winning points isn't measured solely in goals and assists, they just make it undeniable. He playing up front has allowed other members of our squad to rest to perform better in other games, and we've won games that he's started and played well in anyhow, he's clearly contributing, and his contribution is worth more than a couple of million. It's never been a question of £5million, we'll clearly get money for him in the summer, just not as much. Sod it, lets go with you logic and flog off Lucas, Sakho, Skrtel, Can, Manquillo and play Me, You, Ryan, Fabio and Hansern, as due to a lack of a concrete stat to fall back, the previous are clearly contributing fuck all.

I think it's pretty obvious most of those players make a contribution. And the position isn't analogous.

A non scoring striker is as useful as a cock flavoured lollipop.

And if I had to choose between a cock flavoured lollipop, and a cock flavoured lollipop + £5m, its a no brainer

Yet our points per game is higher when he starts then when he doesn't, and we know how you love that statistic.

provided there's a decent sample size its s good stat

I doubt the sample size is big though

Cos he doesn't start in games against top teams?

My memory is shite so there may be loads of examples proving me wrong, but that's my first thought faced with that stat.

I know, the stat was facetious, I still stand by my point that Lambert provides more value to us for the next 6 months than at most £3million additional profit does.

What if you had to choose between a strawberry lollipop and a cock flavoured lollipop and £5m?

Gutted about this. 5m for someone of Lambert's quality and age + Villa's desperation would have been ideal and unlikely to be repeated. Him and Borini are an embarrassment to our striking heritage.
