Lallana is defo off, then

You know how Kewell was booed in the CL final when he got injured?
Although that was wrong, that's pretty much how Lallana has hindered us. By ultimately not being there. He was bought for 25 mill. Marquee money back then. He didn't show.

There might be a point there in the first few seasons (although I am not sure, since he often was there then) but in order for him to have been a hindrance in the past few years, when he hasn’t been there, logically you’d be saying that the players who were there were not doing the job, and it’s therefore the fault of Lallana because he wasn’t around to replace them.

That alone is a bit of a stretch anyway, but it begs the questions of which players who HAVE played haven’t been good enough, and why aren’t you angry at them instead? And how do you realistically think we would have done better had we had someone else other than Lallana?

As I said before, I am not arguing that he should stay, and not arguing that he’s been an amazing success, but he’s been alright as a member of the squad and he doesn’t seem to me to be a contender for a player whose departure needs to be celebrated.

Modo's an obsessive, and at times (e.g.now) it reaches ludicrous quasi-autistic levels. He took against Lallana from the start, partly because he - like many of us - thought we'd overpaid but mainly because he was flogging one of his hobbyhorses to death, said hobbyhorse being that the English media and English fans routinely overrate English players. Once he gets one of these bees in his bonnet, he likes to hug it close like some sort of perverted comfort blanket and drag it out for an airing again, and again, and again, and again. He's stunk out innumerable threads this way and should never have been allowed back on here after his ban.
Thats a weak spot you have, though. Modo spiralled at some point and got really bad but before then and since his ban he has been a very good contributor to the site. And I am glad he is back. I'm even happy having the new version of Brendan back. A society without any rehabilitation and redemption is not one worth being part of for numerous reasons.

It's probably for the best lallana goes. Think of the harmony on this forum. We will never disagree about a player ever again.

I mean, an expensivs player with huge promise, plays well in patches, looks like exactly the creative outlet we need, but is constantly injured...

It's a good think keita isn't named Keith.

Anyone English who has a competitor in the same position, who comes from one of the top foreign footballing countries, obviously.

Same old.

OK, let's not get him bleating about Carragher or Gerrard.

What I find most odd is that this stance isn't controversial or significant.

Like his other hate-boner, Henderson (apart from the recent Hendersonaissance), Lallana has been a very divisive player since he joined, and has hardly, if ever, enjoyed the full favour of the fans - apart from that great stint under Klopp that lasted for maybe a season, almost.

Apart from that, he's been injured and complaints about goals and end product have always been there.

So I don't really understand why Modo talks about Lallana so often, and slags him off so much; it's hardly like it's a brave opinion and he's making his voice heard above a roar of disapproving voices. He's not even close to being in the "I told you so" region of smug-posting, the one lone voice of reason.

There's hardly anything posted about Lallana at all, and it's almost never entirely positive.

Everyone just thinks it's fucking weird.

New version? Eh?

I respect your view but I don't accept it. Modo was always capable of contributing to the site, but since he went off the deep end about the "overrating English players" issue and the vendettas to which that has sometimes led (Carra and Hendo as well as Lallana) he's also been prone to spoiling any given discussion by giving his obsessions YET another runout. For me, and for others too as this thread demonstrates, that's too high a price to pay for the unobjectionable stuff.

Marquee players who were shit have already been shipped out. Lallana's stuck around like a cold sore. Keeps fucking flaring up from time to time just to disappear again.
It's like people feelings towards Lucas.

I've very rarely seen a thread ruined by 1 poster. And I havent seen much of it for a long time anyway.

Edit:
Long may we win.

Modo likes the recent Hendo... Modo likes press resistent available players. He's no harsher or repetitive than Brendan. They're prolific posters. I'm not one. This site needs them as there aren't that many members.

I know, he's a fucking sperg.

Over the last two and a bit seasons since he's been injured, you'd think the place was full of Lallana fanatics, posting updates on his latest injury, or worrying how we'd do without him, or how great it will be when he's back, when in actual fact nobody did that, hardly anyone cared and noone was going on about him getting back into the team, because he obviously wouldn't.

"Yeah! Fuck off Lallana! I'm sick of all these people saying he would come back stronger and starting threads about him!"

"Er.....nobody did"

"Yeah! Fuck off Lallana! I was right about you all along! I bet everyone feels stupid now! He's not good enough!"

Lallana is a very good footballer though. In this thread you should drop it even if they are baiting you.

Yeah, we couldn't get rid of him due to wages. That's the only reason he's here. Everyone else gets that, and just accepts it, even if most of them don't rate him. We got a bit of use of him this season, that's about the expectation anyone had. We didn't keep relitigating the transfer because most were in agreement it didn't work out, because we had eyes, and it would be pointless. You always had appetite though, as though you were upsetting a nonexistent lallana fan club.

Harsher perhaps not, but "no more repetitive"? I'd stake a sizeable sum there'd be many more posters who agree with me on that than would agree with you, and the repetitiousness of it all is the crux of the problem. Perhaps the fact that, by your own admission, you're not on here that much might give you some pause for thought about all this.

Incidentally, on the "not many members" point, there are 231 online as I write.

Meh, so it boils down to having different opinions then. I don't get uptight about though. Look at all the post about me, rather then the subject of the thread.

Except he hasn’t because I would assume (never had one) that when the cold sore flares up, it causes a problem. So that would only work if every time Lallana was called upon, we lost. Is that the case? Or is it actually just the case that when we need him, he comes in, tends to do a fairly decent but definitely not spectacular job and then gets dropped again?

Lucas actually played a lot, when we weren’t really doing especially well. So if one were of the opinion that Lucas was not that good then it would be more reasonable to make the case that he was something of a hindrance. Not that I am making that argument, because I can’t be bothered.

it doesn’t entirely work with a back up player who, when he comes in, neither tends to win games nor lose them but probably just keeps things steady.

wages?! wtf kind of narrative change is that?
Jesus Christ, the guy's constantly injured.
If he was fucking Sanchez, yeah I'd go for wages as well. Under 30 and English...wages?! Fuck off man.

Like a kind of trainee Kanwar.

That's the funniest bit, watching him sperg out about Lallana, when NOBODY else is disagreeing. He spergs about Lallana in threads that aren't about Lallana.

He had a nuclear sperg in another thread a few months ago, when Lallana started ahead of Fabinho against Villa, and every fucking person in the thread also thought it was a shit idea.

But then Modo started his usual screeching about Klopp picking Lallana, and was quacking on about fucking Roy Hodgson for some reason, before retreating in a puddle of tears to the general bemusement of everyone.

It was well funny.

Again, it's the money the club spent. Lallana was bought after we sold Suarez.
He hasn't given the club any value for he money spent and we've just seen short cameos pretty much since he signed.

And now instead of selling him 3 years ago, he's leaving for free.

So you're saying he is actually good and midtable teams should have been jumping over themselves to pay high wages for a player with no resale, who is frequently injured. You are an unlikely choice to be lallanas agent, but have at it!

Obviously Leicester are?
If we can find a club for fucking Karius we can damn sure find a club for Lallana.

He was very important to klopps earlier sides. Then klopp realized he's permacrocked, but it was too late. We all know ideally it would have been better not to purchase him, or sell him earlier.

Yeah, now they don't have to pay for him as well.

Do you not understand how that is different. Lallana would have to want to go somewhere, and we may have had to pay some of his wages, so we didn't, and now here we are.

I will admit that I've always found Klopp's obvious love of Lallana a bit weird, but it's fair to say he was probably one of the earliest "defining players" of Klopp's Liverpool career.

Glad we upgraded enough that we haven't missed him at all, though.
