No, it isn't.

It's a stupid fucking statistic used by morons to denounce a fine defender.
I bet if it was Gary Neville topping that list you'd have a different opinion.
No, it wouldn't.

The reason we hate Neville is because he was a fantastic defender.
E

Actually, the reason we hate him is because he's a Manc and a rat-faced cunt.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

That too.

But you don't see anyone hating Titus bramble.

We only hate shit players if they play for us.

I'd pick Agger over Skrtel. Carragher did well on the right, with decent crosses. Shame about being top scorer of own goals tho!
The two against Man U and the one vs West Ham, Oh and Tottenham....Jesus this guy has really fucked us over sometimes.
he's been right at the heart of the best things this club has done for the past 20 years, so show a bit of respect ffs.
The problem is he clearly isn't the player he was a few seasons ago. That's not to say he's not the best CB at the club - which in itself tells a story.

A few years ago Carragher was one of the best defenders in the league. Now he's not. The fact that we "can" push him out to RB and "make do" with our other defenders would suggest that more than time is catching up with Carragher.

To get the best out of him, we need to be playing him less.

Ayala & Wilson need to be properly blooded this season.

We desperatly need a new centre back. The Greek has done tremendously well in the last few games, against not to mobile strikers. He'll be needed against Bolton aswell.

But we need a new CB. Carra should be a back up in the future, and not play more than 15-20 games a season in the league. With that amount he'll be fine.
Martin Kelly is a CB, not a RB. Please try him
there.
We need him more at RB though.

If any of the youngsters are to be given a chance at CB, then Wilson has by far the most experience.

Was speaking to some Rangers fans tonight about him. Highly regarded... but not particularly pacey.

We have a competent set of CBs ..... but no longer even one who is absolutely outstanding. No Vidic, Carvalho or Ferdinand.

I don't think that long term (next two years) ANY of them will / should be still in our starting line-up. Agger & Skrtel should be let go next Summer and two better headers of the ball, faster and scoring CBs brought in.

No I don't know who either. I just know neither Agger nor Skrtel are good enough.

I am never disappointed when Kyrgiakos is included in the line-up, he's a dominant defender and does provide a goal threat. Skrtel is whole hearted if a little wild at times, he gives everything but I think Agger gives us better options.

I think Skrtel has been very good this season. He and Gerrard are the only players who should be proud of their work so far this year.

And Modokay when a player played a game like Carragher did in Istanbul he NEVER deserves the line 'This guy has really fucked us over at times'.
Please take that back.

Seeing as this season is looking like a write off, i really hope we play either one of our younger CB's alongside Carra(Skrtel, Agger, Kelly or Wilson) or two of them together. I highly doubt that the Greek will be at LFC for much longer, so i don't see the point in playing him unless we've got no other choice.

that could be about the richest thing i've ever seen on here given some of the things you've called benitez - who was also in istanbul, if i recall - over the last few months.

OK I'll take it back if it makes you happy. But does his spectacular performance against Milan make him impregnable to criticism?
Can he never lose his spot in the starting line up unless he himself decides to hang up his boots?

I don't know if there's any other fans in England that are so intent on living in the past as like us.

How about all the important games Cara has cost us? Do you remember them? Probably no, because we turn a blind eye to every mistake he makes.

I'm constantly being mocked by friends, especially Chelsea and Man U fans, because as the say it "having a player like Carragher in your team".

I get the whole 100% commitment part but it doesn't mean a thing when he's costing us games and goals.

Finally we have a defender that actually is a threat during set pieces and helps us decide games and we can't fathom the fact that he's better than Carragher because...well I don't know Carra was impressive during a game five years ago.

Anyway, between 2004-2008 Carra was arguably one of the best defenders in the premiership.
Sadly he isn't any more.

Nah it's just blindingly obvious that both deserve credit for Istanbul and neither should be subjected to the abuse and vitriol that goes for 'criticism' now. The media does enough of this without Liverpool fans joining in and trying to score petty points.

"All" the important games Carra has cost us could be counted on the fingers of one hand, which is good news for those doombrain Chav and Manc friends of yours who probably use their fingers to count anyway.

Maybe I got lost in translation but I didn't mean that he's intentionally hurting us. But an own goal is always an uphill struggle unless you're in the lead.

i agree. except i would also apply the same reasoning to konchesky, rodriguez, jovanovic, and poulsen.

I do know what you mean Modo, but i think someone already said it best, we dont have anyone clearly better than Carragher on the books so it boils down to this (at present) would you rather have an error prone centreback who sometimes looks like they couldnt give a fuck or an error prone centre back who will give you 100% every second of every game?

The problem is not Carragher, its that he's as good as we have.

I guess we have to agree to disagree here. I still think Kyrgiakos is a better option that Carragher and this season I personally haven't seen proof of anything else.
Like I've stated in other threads we need two new experienced central defenders.
