Inter have agreed a deal to take Dirk Kuyt from Liverpool to Serie A, according to a report from Dutch daily De Telegraaf.

The report claims that the move was agreed earlier this week and could go be concluded today.

Kuyt was omitted from Liverpool's Europa League win over Trabzonspor at Anfield, with Reds boss Roy Hodgson claiming that the Dutchman was being rested.

However, that omission means that Kuyt is not cup tied for European competition and it seems that he is heading for a reunion with former Liverpool manaber Rafael Benitez at the San Siro.

Benitez is a known admirer of Kuyt who has made little secret of his admiration for the hard-working and versatile Netherlands international.

Roy said last night that Kuyt was definetly not for sale, and Kuyt said a couple of weeks ago that he didn't want to leave. BS.

I'd be surprised and a bit disappointed but the source isn't as spurious as some others.

As long as we get at least £10m for him I suppose it's a decent deal.

I don't like the idea of losing Kuyt.

Aquilani/Babel/Kuyt and Masher are available?

That is like doing open heart surgery on the squad.

Hmm, the Goal story comes from a link in De Teelegraf in Holland. Still sounds like BS though.

Lazy reporting to say the least. This story was doing the rounds way back when Rafa was appointed as Inter gaffer. However...

According to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, Holland international Dirk Kuyt looks set to leave Anfield to join forces with Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan.

Roy Hodgson left the World Cup finalist out of Liverpool’s Europa League squad for last night’s match against Trabzonspor, a move which has been interpreted as a safeguard against cup-tying the attacking midfielder from future European involvement with another club.

Kuyt has long been linked with a move to Serie A ever since Benitez left Merseyside by mutual consent earlier in the summer. His versatility, experience and willingness to adapt to tactics has seen him attract a number of admirers on the continent although with a history of working with his Spanish mentor it appears that a move to the reigning European champions is most likely.

At 30-years-old, and having spent four years with the Reds, the former Utrecht and Feyenoord is thought to be on the lookout for a lucrative final career deal. It is thought Kuyt would attract a fee in excess of £12 million, a figure which would allow Hodgson to redirect funds to further squad recruits.

I would be surprised but Rafa and Dirk do love each other.
We all know Dirk's strength and weaknesses , and Rafa more than anyone would be prepared to splash the cash on Dirk and be able to justify it on the basis of the Dutch World cup run and Dirk being a key member. It is also slightly strange he was not in the squad last night as he seems to be an ever present. It could also mean that Rafa has to give up the idea of Mascher.

I would hardly say Aquilani and Babel come into the major surgery bracket Julian.

May be not in terms of importance, but it certainly is in terms of numbers.

I don't think having an abnormally high number of transfers in/out is going to work in our favor.

I'm not sure why selling Dirk means Mascher won't go, Vladders.

I'm guessing it's because you think Rafa wouldnt want to antagonise Liverpool by taking both players?

Inter have to sell to buy Avvy.

They got 22.5m for Balotelli, they won't get Mascherano and Kuyt for that

Yeah, that makes sense..

Didnt think of it in that way.

Nice to know we arent the only skint club 🙁

While I'd rather keep Dirk, if they offer us 22.5 I'd sell ... 😉

Don't believe it

Uh-oh! Dirk, Mascherano and Aquilani out and Cole, Jovanovic and Poulsen in is starting to look like another horrible summer.

The incoming players are older and less talented than the outgoing players.

That would be a horrible transfer window. At least we will have room to add a big name or two if a take over is completed.

Otherwise i'm going to lower my expectations to a top half of finish - because anything more would be unrealistic.

The transfers in and out are not done yet. You can only make a judgement once the window closes.

With Roys recent comments about keeping Kuyt - i can only imagine a very large fee would get us to accept an offer so quickly..

15 million for Kuyt would be very good business.

Its not great but we have had worse summers.

We were pretty resigned to Mascherano going anyway and Aquilani going is potentially a good thing. Dirk going would be shit granted.

Of the incoming players Cole is good, Jovanovic looks decent and I don't know a lot about Poulsen yet but he's not that bad is he?

It's a day flagellation for me. I'm just going to get this needle out my balls and shove it down my japper.

Roy is getting rid of Benitez signings?

He tried to get rid of Lucas and Insua.
Degen, Riera, Benayoun are out.
Aquilani on loan?
Kuyt?
Babel?

Dirk Kuyt's agent, Rob Jansen, claims the Liverpool striker is considering a reunion with former Reds boss Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan. Jansen claimed there is "real interest" from the European champions and added: "There is also the possibility that a player from Inter could be included in the deal."

Eto'o? 😉
