Klopp in his previous club was renowned for taking bargains and making them household names.
This is his second season, and with our track record our managers buy really badly.
Now I am willing to give Klopp's signings the chance even if they've had a questionable track record just because of his past.

I would trust almost anyone with 100 million to spend.

With 30 million not so much - that's where you have to be shrewd.

These transfer fees I'm seeing are fucking unbelievable. I really think we should consider looking at Championship players.

Zorc madee Dortmunds transfer decisions so i don't think you can make any judgment on Klopp as a result of those.

I don't trust managers with money, so i don't trust Klopp.

Zorc was responsible FOR the transfers but not alone on deciding who .. that was Zorc, Buvac and Klopp together.

Would I have been happy with Solanke,VVD and Salah for £100m?

Er, ish.

Looking at the players we were strongly linked with (before eventually failing to sign them), I guess my concern is more about getting deals done than the quality of players targeted.

With Michael Edwards providing stats to back up the signings, why not?

I don't think there is a single manager out there who is good at transfers with the exception of maybe Wenger who used to be reasonably good at identifying value for money attackers in the < 5-15 million price range.

To Klopp's credit, he has always been very open and honest about the role Watzke(sp?), Zorc, and Buvac has played in his success. He has not tried to take credit for the transfers which have come off and tried to distance himself from the flops. Most importantly, every manager I know has done some form of "I wanted player X when he was U18 in Norwegian league but my boss wouldn't sanction the 50K needed. Now, look at him scoring 100 goals per season at Barcelona. If only they listened to me." I have never seen Klopp do that.

Correct, he hasn't taken credit for it.

So why attribute it now ?

True.

He does have a favored style of play and formation and more than often tries to buy players who fit his style. Hopefully, that should increase the success rate marginally.

Regarding Dortmund, there is also a head scout who is highly regarded and an important player in their transfers. The one that had a fight with Tuchel.

Well he's wrong but i can't be arsed telling him that.

If i told him he lived in China he'd deny it
If you were right about anything the world would hear of it. Which means you know you were wrong but felt the need to make some response, ANY response, thinking that somehow that saves face.
