Keepers

Call me old fashioned, but I'm not that arsed about my keeper's pass completion. I want him to save stuff. Karius is good with his feet (supposedly), but his hands are made out of crisp packets. Give me Oblak.
I think he’s pretty shit with his feet. Let’s not start comparing him to the really shit with his feet Mignolet.
Reina was good with his feet. Edison is good with his feet.

There's no way Klopp would want Oblak with those poor distribution stats. Klopp wants a sweeper keeper.

Yeah, it's not like he's there picking out 70 yard long balls. Obviously Mignolet is a tard with the ball, but I'm sure Oblak wouldn't be shown up in that regard. I like my keepers to save shots, first and foremost.

I think you'll find that everyone else does also.
I think that's a bit naive actually. There are people in here that would have shot stopping well bellow, distribution, beard growth, fashion sense and sandwich preference, on a list of important attributes.

i think the most important stats of a goalkeeper are being overlooked....

he keeps the most clean sheets, makes the most saves (per goal) and concedes the least amount of goals. those are the raw stats of a goalkeeper, not influenced by the defenders, and his are outstanding. he also catches the fucking ball!

Atletico play differently to roma. they involve the goalie in build up play. that isnt Oblak's choice, it is the choice of the goalie. when Oblak gets the ball, he goes long. at liverpool he would be encouraged to go shorter, and it isnt something he actually struggles with when ive seen him play.

Elite goalkeepers are few and far between in the modern game, meaning there is often a transfer window scrap among Europe’s biggest clubs when a top-quality stopper emerges.
A number of those clubs are currently in need of either a new instant first-choice goalkeeper or a long-term successor in favour of their current number one.
So who are Europe’s most in-demand goalies? And why are they worth fighting for?
Alisson

Current club: AS Roma
Club he could join: Liverpool
Alisson has emerged as one of the very best goalkeepers in Serie A this season. The Brazilian will be thankful Wojciech Szczesny left Roma for Juventus last summer, allowing him to become first-choice stopper at Stadio Olimpico.
The 25-year-old joined Roma from Brazilian side Internacional in 2016. After biding his time for a year, Alisson has grabbed the No. 1 shirt with both gloves this season, putting in a number of fine performances.
That form has seen him allegedly attract strong interest from Liverpool, although Roma recently denied reports they received a bid from the Reds.
Key quote:
Italy legend Gianluigi Buffon said of Alisson: “What really strikes me is the way he handles dangerous situations in such an efficient way. He provides his team with a lot of confidence.”
Key stat:
Only Napoli’s Pepe Reina (15) has kept more clean sheets in Serie A than Alisson (13) this season.
Jan Oblak

Current club: Atletico Madrid
Clubs he could join: Chelsea, Arsenal
After playing 16 games in Benfica’s 2013-14 Primeira Liga winning campaign, Oblak was snapped up by Atletico Madrid as a long-term replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who returned to Chelsea in the summer of 2014.
Oblak emerged as Atletico’s first-choice in 2015-16, making 38 La Liga appearances and playing in every Champions League match on the way to losing the final. The 25-year-old has arguably been the most consistent stopper in Spain over the last three seasons, earning inevitable interest from England.
Indeed, Chelsea could turn to Oblak if Courtois leaves in the near future according to the Mirror – though Arsenal are also believed to be keen in the Slovenian with Petr Cech putting in inconsistent performances.
Key quote:
“It’s not easy to talk about what’s going to happen tomorrow never mind what will happen next season, but I am calm and the situation depends on Atletico – nobody knows the future,” said Oblak when asked about the possibility of a new contract.
Key stat:
Oblak has saved two of the three penalties he has faced in La Liga this term.
Timo Horn

Current club: FC Koln
Club he could join: Arsenal
Horn, a lifelong Koln fan who has been with the club since he was nine years old, is in a strange situation: he could either be playing in the German second division or the Champions League next season.
That’s because Koln sit 19th in the Bundesliga and are five points adrift of safety with just seven games to go. However, Arsenal are reportedly interested in the 24-year-old German, and the Sun claim the Gunners could get Horn for just £5.4m by taking advantage of his relegation release clause.
If Arsenal win the Europa League, Horn may have the opportunity to play Champions League football next season. Could that be enough to tempt him to leave his boyhood club?
Key quote:
Asked if he would ever consider joining an English club, Horn said: “I can’t rule it out completely. I often had chances and offers to move to England as a youth player, but in my opinion the best goalkeeping education is here in Germany which is why I’ve always stayed.”
Key stat:
Horn has conceded more league goals (49) than any other goalkeeper in Germany this season.
Kepa Arrizabalaga

Current club: Athletic Bilbao
Club he could join: Real Madrid
Real Madrid have been linked with a number of high-profile goalkeepers in recent years, including Premier League stars David De Gea and Thibaut Courtois. But the European champions are now looking a little closer to home, if reports in Spain are to be believed.
Bilbao stopper Kepa, who made his senior debut for Spain last year at the age of just 22, has apparently caught the eye of Madrid with some mature displays across his 21 La Liga appearances this term.
In January, Spanish outlet AS claimed he had already agreed terms with Madrid. But Kepa ended speculation about his future by signing a new long-term deal with Bilbao later that month. Don’t expect the saga to be over, though.
Key quote:
“I am very happy to continue in what I consider my home,” said Kepa after signing his new contract. “Since I was little I’ve been an Athletic fan and always will be.”
Key stat:
Kepa has made 2.42 saves per goal conceded in La Liga this term, a higher rate than Madrid stopper Keylor Navas (2.24).
Bernd Leno

Current club: Bayer Leverkusen
Clubs he could join: Arsenal, Napoli
It’s difficult to gain recognition in Germany with Manuel Neuer setting new standards for goalkeeping in the Bundesliga over the years. But Leverkusen stopper Leno has certainly caught the eye of late.
The third alleged Arsenal target on our list illustrates the media’s belief that Arsene Wenger is in need of a new goalkeeper this summer. The Gunners nearly missed out on Leno last summer following an approach from Napoli, but his employers turned down the Italian club’s offer.
The 26-year-old has appeared six times for the German national team and is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Petr Cech at the Emirates, according to the Mirror. A reported £22m release clause could work in Wenger’s favour. Napoli, additionally, could reignite their interest as well.
Key quote:
“I don’t know what’s going to happen this summer,” Leno revealed. ““It’s an honour to be linked with great clubs like Napoli. Last summer? Napoli wanted me, but the club didn’t want to let me go.”
Key stat:
Leno became only the third goalkeeper in Bundesliga history to keep clean sheets in his first three top-flight games. He has also made more Bundesliga appearances (227) than any other goalkeeper since the beginning of the 2011-12 campaign.

If Reina kept more clean sheets than Alisson last season why don't we just get Pepe back?
Also, where is Courtois going? Nicking him off the chav twats would be a massive change over recent years.

Poor form. Thats what half this site has moaned about Barca players doing
It's hardly the same when Roma have put him up for sale. We didn't want to sell coutinho but barca went out of their way using players and press (even sending him a barca shirt) to unsettle him. Poor form was van dijk not Allison.
