Well if the ref doesn't put it in his report the FA can take action. Can you honestly see the ref putting he saw Suarez bite someone but felt a ticking off was suitable action?

It will all hinge on whether the ref saw it. The ref saw Defoes. I havent. Was it comparable.

Defoes was probably worse imo, he went out of way to bite Mascherano where Ivanovic had his arm right beside his mouth. It's when the referee yellow cards something it prevents any further punishment isn't it? or that used to be the case.

An apology might help him out along with an internal fine maybe.

Not really, Defoe and Mascherano were on the ground and Defoe leaned into him and has a snap, its not very cler from the video if he actually makes contact. Suarez grabs hold of Ivanovics arm to hold it in place while he tries to sink his teeth in, I would say Suarez looks considerably worse, although im amazed Defoe got away with only a yellow if the ref actually did see it

Its the same thing imho.
The ref talked a lot to Suarez afterwards. With our luck the FA will take action regardless

Sorry mate but looks like you have an agenda here.
Both were bites. End of. You're over analyzing the diffs here.

Some strawmen floating about in this thread. I don't think anyone is particularly concerned about Ivanovic's well being. The concern is rather that our star player has decided to ban himself for x number of games for no good reason. I would much rather he was sent of for an overzealous dangerous tackle a la Shelvey or Gerrard, as that at least makes sense in the context of the game.

It does. There is some talk on Twitter about the club banning him, although I cant see the good in that myself

Am I being thick? Why should he apologise before the ref has submitted his report?

Because he actually feels bad about what he did. Maybe ashamed about it.
And with the entire world seeing it, what's the point of waiting for the ref's report?

If they have any sense they will. He desperately needs a rest. We have fuck all to play for. It makes sense pr wise for the club if we want to have any chance of keeping him.

For the record I think they'll still get shut, but then again, to get the best price we need him sans controversy so there's a chance we spin it as much as possible so he can play again next season.

The tweet would tie in with that.

Liverpool Football Club has the following response to the incident that occurred during today's game at Anfield:

Luis Suarez said: "I am deeply sorry for my inexcusable behaviour earlier today during our match against Chelsea.
"I have issued an apology and have tried to contact Branislav Ivanović to speak to him personally. I apologise also to my manager, playing colleagues and everyone at Liverpool Football Club for letting them down."

The club's managing directory Ian Ayre commented: "Luis has made an unreserved apology for his actions today.
"His behaviour is not befitting of any player wearing a Liverpool shirt and Luis is aware that he has let himself and everyone associated with the club down. We will deal with the matter internally and await any action from the FA."

Brendan Rodgers added: "Having reviewed the video footage and spoken to Luis, his behaviour is unacceptable and I have made him aware of this."

It was bad. Really, really fucking bad, but why is it more serious than ageuro's intentional stamp on luiz's arse last week?
Biting another player is perceived by many as being very, very bad and similar to spitting. No one cares that the physical risk of a kick or punch may be greater.

He's a winner and he steps over the line sometimes. I love it. But the biting is a bit cro magnon.
