Julian Ward stepping down at the end of the season due to "personal reasons"

I mean the summer was dog shit , we've been hurtling toward oblivion for 18 months - give a shit. Throwing £120m at Diaz and Nunez was hardly rocket science , midfield is a state , sicknotes dominate the squad depth.

I don't feel particularly arsed about this , footballs cyclical and quite possibly were now in transitional phase after the exertions of last season - heyho

Appaz Klopp is very relaxed about this according to Bascombe.
I see no reason why we shouldnt be as well.

not too worried. They have been fairly unimpressive thus far. Bound to be some unexpected change - pity though

Brightons recruitment has been extremely good in recent years. I wonder if there's anyone there who could be a replacement?

It wouldn't be popular but Rangnik might be free after the WC. As a sporting director he's highly praised.

Edwards announced his departure in November 2021. I'm sure Ward had slowly been taking over for months by that point.
Yes Edwards was working with ward. Ward took the lead with the diaz transfer That January but with the help from Edwards.. We only bought Diaz in January because spurs put in a bid. He was suppose to be a summer target and we weren't going to buy anyone in .
But the point is this summer was his first window where he was fully in charge.

Either
1. We've got massive problems culturally and these lads are jumping ship
2. Klopp and de management are unhappy, and want them gone
3. Edwards is bringing them somewhere
or 4. The Saudis are in for them and they are heading to Tyneside.

Or maybe they’re completely unrelated and just a complete coincidence and we’re reading too much into things.

Edwards was planned and he’s shown no interest in going to work for anyone else.

“Personal Reasons” could be anything.

Maybe it's all four.

Ian Graham, the club’s director of research, also resigned on the same day.

I like how everyone on 6CM has insider knowledge into almost everything.

I mean, someone would tell you how the universe was formed with 100% certainty like he was there when it actually all happened, and he'd rush home to log online just so he could share it with everyone on 6CM. Now, that's bad ass insider.

I like to think that "personal reasons" involves a rash on his ball sack and an issue of pus from his bellend

Personal Reasons

"Personally I think Nunez is a donkey and I'm very disappointed that you told me to faarccck off when I politely informed you of my views. Also, FSG only gave me 50million to last two summers so spending more than my entire budget on donkey kong was not cool, especially when I had already told my friend Indykalia we would be buying a midfielder. That is the reason I am saying goodbye, Herr Klopp. Auf Wiedersen."

Maybe he’s having an affair with Naby and want to follow him when his contract’s done.

Or - “I can no longer deal with the shame of suggesting that signing Arthur Melo on loan was a good idea. I must go and live out my days as a recluse in a desolate, far flung, hole of a place. Since I used to play for Larne FC - maybe I’ll move back there - there can be no greater punishment for my failings. Mourn me.”

Oh yikes. He's the guy the athletic once wrote a great story on right? That's a lot of change, but then based on what we've all been seeing lately - maybe change is what we need.

Not this much all at once, I'd have said, but it is what it is and the club's focus now has to be on what/who's next.

That’s the key for me - it doesn’t matter who leaves (including Klopp or any player, back room staff), it’s who replaces them.

No-one is irreplaceable - but some are harder to replace, successfully, than others.

The fuck you say?
