Maybe it really its time for Rafa to go. The players seem demotivated and lackluster-ed. Maybe it's time for someone else to come in because Rafa has taken us as far as he can, and the more he tries to do something about, the worse the situation gets.

Ranieri which I reckon is one of the worst top-managers outthere came close enough. And even so withouth the likes of Drogba, Robben, Carvalho, Cech, Cole, Ballack, Mikel and Essien.

Of course he would've won it too had he got the same material to work with.

Every other manager since has had the same material to work with.

And hasn't won it.

I think those Bosmans were mighty expensive mate. Sign-on fees closing in on £10M at least in Ballacks case were rumoured at the time.

Chelsea had all the money in the world and they spend a lot of them on players. Some great, some good, some decent, some awful but in the end it didn't really matter as they had so many to choose from. Mourinho deserves credit of course but most managers could've won Chelsea the trophy with that squad.

Ranieri had just brought in the likes of Lampard, Cole, Terry and Makelele when the Portuguese took over didn't he?

Even Glock could've taken Chelsea all the way.
No. Lampard signed in about 2001 and Terry has always been there I believe.

Cole came in 2003 but he only cost about 6 million
Thought Terry came from West Ham as well as the others. My bad then. The fact remains it was an incredibly potent squad that just got even more so with another £200M beeing spunked by Mourinho the following two years.

He had all the money Mourinho had and spent a fucking shit load. What you are essentially saying is that Ranieri wasn't as good in the transfer market as Mourinho, which is true, yet somehow you are trying to portray this as a negative point for Mourinho, which is odd.

Actually you could argue that Ranieri's transfers were better than Mourinho's: apart from Drogba, it was basically Ranieri's players who won that first title.

When Ranieri took over he wasn't initially handed Romans bucks. He was however the first one to splash the cash on the likes of Makelele, Duff, Cole, Crespo, Veron, Glen Johnson, Wayne Bridge, Gallas and Mutu. A lot of those players helped Mourinho along as did the maturing Terry and Lampard.

Fact of the matter is Mourinho took over a far better team than Ranieri did. And even out-spended him good.

I simply do not fall on my arse over Mourinho's tenure at Chelsea. MOst decentish managers could've achieved the same. Rafa would've probably also won them the Champions League. Which by the way is the trophy Roman craved the most.

Yes that is a fair point. Those who arrived at the end of the season who are often falsely identified as Mourinho signings were among the most influencial

I can't recall anyone ever beeing in the same favourable position. Not one.

So it's a rather void question isn't it?

Well of course he wasn't handed the cash as soon as he took over. Abramovich didn't own the club then. Ranieri only had one season with Abramovich money, although in that one season I think he spent about the same as Mourinho spent over all the time he was there!

What exactly is your position, Kristian?

That there are no guarantees Mourinho will be more successful than Rafa?

Of course that's possible.

But what are our options?

Who cares how we play? We've not won the league since the back pass rule was introduced. We used to go 1-0 up and give it to bruce. Hardly champagne football either. Difference was we had a great team who could all produce something.
I know. I often wonder where some of these blerts get all this "Liverpool Way" and "attacking football" shit from.

Was it that one season under Kenny in 1988?

Because before that we were quite happy boring the tits off everyone, and kicking people ten feet in the air as long as it meant winning trophies.

Its true you know.

Hate is such a strong word.

He's a Rafa Mach II-type of manager so if we are to hire I'd go for someone with different attributes. And some class as well.

A lot of good to decent managers could've turned Chelsea into title-winners at the time given the circumstances. And done so without building a brick-wall even.

He's certainly better than Kezman.

I think he managed about 3 goals in a dominant Chavs team.

Ferguson would shit himself if Mourinho became Liverpool's manager in the summer

After he's just won his 4th consecutive league title, and 19th in total for Man Utd taking them ahead of us in the honours list.

I hardly think he'll care, he's done his job and will be retiring in the next 2 or so seasons.

We played much more attacking football at home, but away from home it's certainly true that our primary aim was to shut up shop, and that at times we weren't too fussy regarding how we went about it.

I'll keep everything firmly crossed hoping that United won't win it this Season. There's still hope Pete.

It would be unbearable really especially as I don't even think their squad looked that good from the start.

I really think Arsenal are the only team that can stop them.

Chelsea look tired and low on confidence.

Need Arsenal to win every game (including Spurs away) and hope that Utd drop points against either Chelsea or Man City.

You might be right, but IMO it's too soon to say. There's still enough quality in that Chavski squad to turn things around. What's definitely true is that it's the Mancs' title to lose now. >🙁

I'd be ever so pleased to see Arsenal win it at this stage. A small victory for the game as well even with them playing by far the most attacking-minded and entertaining football.

The mere thought of seeing the likes of Rooney or Terry lifting the trophy once again makes me wanna vomit a bit.

The thought of Terry lifting it has a similar effect on me, but the thought of the Mancs doing it has me projectile-vomiting a ton of diced carrots. ANYONE but them.
