Hmm Jose's going to Madrid this summer
Then I'd gladly take Pellegrinni (sp?)
Why?
Because he worked miracles at Villareal, and plays some really decent football. You don't just get handed the Madrid job for nothing. If he were to leave Madrid this summer he should be seriously considered.
No he shouldn't

I really hate how some people always seems to think there's some golden connection between beeing a right nasty, arrogant prick and a winner.

It's pathetic and a path I dearly hope we stay well clear off. Just because some 'winners' are acting like they are the center of the fucking universe doesn't make it any less cringe-worthy.
The question isn't whether it's 'cringe-worthy'.

The question is whether we can win things.

Let's win things for a change and then we'll see how much cringe-worthiness we can endure.

Mourinho's antics aren't pathetic; even if I think he's a prat.

Pthetic is losing 1 out of every 3 League games played this year.

jose bought a top class defender in carvalio (for a fortune) - but I think rafa has bought a good defender in agger

jose bought a top class CM in essien (for a fortune) - but I think rafa bought top class CM in alonso and masher

jose bought a top class striker in drogba (for a fortune) - but I think rafa has bought a top class striker in torres

we need a top class fullback - has jose bought a top class fullback?
we need a top class wide player - has jose bought a top class wide player?
the way I see it chelsea were already a top class side, he was given a huge lump sum to turn those bridemaids into the bride.

at liverpool he'd have to turn an average squad (with exceptional individuals) into champions on a tight budget which almost certainly will have to be offset by sales.
he'd be MAD to take that job on and what's more if he DID take that job on I doubt he'd turn us into champions rather we would push for CL places again. I guess even that is better than our current plight, but I wouldn't expect miracles (if he came, which I doubt).

If you don't get my drift then fair enough although I do reckon I made myself clear.

And just for the record, Mourinho isn't going to guarantee you any more trophies. No matter how much you think he's the Messiah he really, really isn't.

Oh, I get your drift.

I just think it's wrong.

I also don't think he's the Messiah; nor do I think he'll guarantee trophies.

I can guarantee tho that Rafa will keep on losing games, no matter if you think he's the Messiah.

Ideally, we'd win without being scumbags.

But between losing with class and winning brutishly, guess what?

Which one is Rafa4PM?
2nd on the left, but i'm nearly ready to burn my robes.

Noone can claim that any manager will guarantee trophies but we are now looking so poor under Benitez that it should be clear to anyone we need a change.
Makes sense to me to look at a replacement with a proven track record doesn't it?

And yes it is constantly assumed that Mourinho will only succeed with money - I don't think that's true personally - but he will know our situation, he will know our squad and he won't take the job if he doesn't think he could succeed.

I don't think we have bad players. In fact I think we have good players who are underperforming.

They need inspiring. I think Mourinho would inspire them.

mourinho will win us a title.

Neil, that comparison is all well & good, but jose does somthing rafa cant. Gets players playing for him. They fucking worship him & will run through walls. He gets average players performing & superstars alike.

He is exactly what we need, like it or not.

I'm not having a pop here, but why do people think Jose would win us the title (even if he did surprise everyone by taking the job)?

He's a very good manager (he'd be my 1st choice if Rafa goes), but you're hyping him up waaaaay too much mate imo. Lets not forget all of the big money signings he made, and then failed to get performing.

We've got no money, whilst most of our rivals will continue to spend big this summer. i just can't understand how Jose being our manager will be enough to win us the league.

If Mourinho became Liverpool manager, the Liverpool careers of Insua and Lucas would be over approximately two seconds after he walked through the door.

I don't think he wanted Shevchenko.
Others were adding depth I guess.
Del Horno was bought for the starting 11 though. Probably Kalou too.
Oh and Paulo.
Tiago was shit, and Jose couldn't get him playing above average like someone claimed he could get Lucas and Insua to do.

Internazionale 29 17 9 3 28 60
AC Milan 29 17 8 4 21 59
AS Roma 29 16 8 5 18 56

Haha Jose has the strongest 11 and squad. I hope Roma ninja him. I'll settle for Milan winning it though.

He won a title with Ferreira at full-back, ditto Del Horno (who was about £5m cheaper than you quoted), and Tiago was also virtually an ever present in a title-winning side. SWP also won a title there.

Kalou is still there, and he never bought Shevchenko, Abramovich did.

See, that's kind of the point. You label certain players as "flops" or examples of how he wasted money, but he still won titles with most of those players.

Blinkered posts like this makes me want him even less.

He's won trophies in Portugal with by far the best team downthere. He's won the Premiership with all the money in the world at his disposal and now won it with Inter, in a league litterally without any real competition (oh and they are not even home safe this Season with Milans oldies pushing them).

He's a good manager. Perhaps even great at what he does but he obviously excells at winning trophies with the best teams around.

There's a completely different task lying ahead at Liverpool and the mere thought of us going back to an even more defensive-minded approach - which is the style of Mourinho lest you forgot - makes the scenario of him at Anfield even more intimidating in my opinion.

Anyways, I'm not expecting you to support Maureen given your recent outbursts.

I didn't forget. I don't give a merry fuck what his "style" is, I just want the title.

I certainly don't expect him to "reinvent football". Which apparently we did last season anyway.

Deschamps is doing a great job at Marseille and he could've just as well won the Champions League way back with Monaco when Mourinho did it with Porto.

Marcelo Lippi has always struck me as a top manager and a top person too and with regards to how Capello is faring with England these days he'd be odds on to make the swap as well as I've always rated him to be the better manager of the two.

Then there's a bunch of attacking-minded foreign managers in former players like Van Basten, Rijkaard, Laudrup et all whom with the right backroom staff (Carragher assistant manager, Kenny as Chief-something, Sami as defensive coach and a few more homegrown in the shades) could be the recipe for success in the long run.

Haha it's funny innit.

Now some whoppers say they don't want maureen coz he's too defensive.

Haha. Like we've been playing champagne football and buying new wooden trophy cabinets year after year.
