He'd certainly galvanise the squad into action.
 
Had Mourinho been our manager I have little doubt we'd be the defending champions this season. I take all the points about him as an individual and about some of the football he gets his teams to play, but the man is a proven winner. Many times over.
 
I could obviously take the winning, as I agree he would turn us into winners. I could even take the man, even though he's arrogant narcissistic prick (persona or not) at times, if I had to. I can't however take how bad the style of football under him can be. Everybody has to grind out results now and again and do whatever they can to stop the other team, even if that means being tight and giving nothing away to close out a game, just not every single game as soon as it was 1-0, and then if you get a chance break. If he could get us to play like the 2nd half of last season (or a close approximation) I'd have him in a heartbeat (because even if it wasn't always pretty, it was at least exciting), if not then I'd still prefer somebody else.

Sadly he'd fit in well here these days. And yet people will still claim to admire Shanks and Paisley and despise Ginsoak. Pass the sick bag.
 
Exactly. I don't much care if people don't like him personally - and suspect a lot of that is put on anyway - what matters is whether the players like and respond to him.

I get the impression he is a very good man-manager and would give our squad the lift it badly needs
 
The thing about Shanks and Paisley is, they did everything for the love of the club. I think with Mourinho it would be for winning and his egotism.

I'd imagine people hate Shankly too. Doesn't really matter to me. I just want a team that wins. Not even arsed about style of play, we exist to win trophies. Not play pretty football. Newcastle fans say things like that.
