He looks like an average player in a side that sits comfortably in sixth place.
So you didn't think he played well yesterday?

Of course he doesn't otherwise he wouldn't able to use his "Hendermong" tag anymore. As for sixth place we'll stay there until we learn how to score goals or buy someone who knows it already.

I'm relying on arsenal going to shit when fivehead goes to the african cup of nations.

Same with Chelsea and Drogba and Mikel(?)
I agree. He looks ok.

He was better than normal yesterday and I think it was him that gave the through ball to Downing after 7 mins. Downing should have done better. He can obviously play football but he's not very good. I think Shelvey looks a better player.

I very much doubt he'd get near the best 11 of any side above us.

Don't get the love in, he was average at best.

He cant tackle good, not great passer (bar that pass to downing), shooting isnt great and carries no goal threat.

Is he the English deshamps = the water carrier?

He's the English Guardiola or Albertini.

You are bang on the money with your last line, Woland.

We should give him time but i have seen nothing which says to me he is anything better than average.
Dont worry, if we keep underperforming soon Stoke and Newcastle will pass us, and he'd well get into their teams.

maybe.

Theres a lad who works opposite me who proper looks like Henderson.
I felt like fucking smacking him this morning.

well i still don't get it ...he's too shit house and thick for me ....everyone is backing him on the basis that he'll step up but i reckon he'll still be putting in the same performances when he's 25, 26 ....so will that be good enough? .

More than happy to be proven wrong though of course .

Don't worry, he'll have been sold back to Sunderland for around 3.5m by then.

I get the touches of class bit. He does show touches of class - that pass was sublime, for example. But the rest of the time he's just ok. I don't want to see one touch of class per game for my £16m, I want to see them throughout. I'm hoping that his token touch of class becomes two touches of class, then three, and so on. Because the majority of the time, he's average. He is improving, though, so here's hoping.

Yeh he should be the complete midfielder. He's 21. Should have done something in his career by now. Slacker

Neither do I. The problem is that ideally you would bring him into a good, functional team and let him find his feet over a season or two with substitute appearances and sporadic starts with a lot less pressure on him.

Instead he's in a team where the several high profile players in key positions are struggling (Downing, Carroll, Kuyt, Reina, Adam a bit too) and some of those who could have helped him along more like gerrard and Lucas have been injured a fair bit.

FFF, if you please follow this flowchart like the rest of us you will blend in a lot better:

Is the player in question Messi?
----> YES ----> Good! You may now worship the player.
----> NO ----> He is fucking shite! It would take me 500 years to make what he earns in 20 minutes! Waste of space! etc

It is the best I could do. Like with Henderson it would be nice if the effort was appreciated.

Thanks. I got this on my bedroom wall, and I look to it for inspiration every day.

I give Jordan a hard time on here from time to time but I really do like him. I think he'll be a good player. I would like to see him impact games a little more. At first he allowed the game to pass right by him. Now at least he is trying to express himself a little. I'd still start Maxi and Bellers ahead of him and gradually bring him into the team and let him blossom into the player we hope he can be. I keep thinking we picked him up for a few million and forget he cost 16mil.

Loved that pass the other night and his assist to gerrard. He can obv. play just wish he'd try impact himself a bit more.

I don't dislike him. He has a good attitude, is fairly competent technically, and doesn't hide. That being said, he's a bit timid, and doesn't look to become a player who'll ever dominate games. Lacks the agression/drive or the supreme passing ability to be able to d0 that. Which is fine. He doesn't need to be that player. How I really envision him playing is as the 3rd midfielder rather than as part of the midfield two. He's got good movement and intelligence, two good feet - logic suggests he should be good playing on the tip of a midfield three, and scoring goals. That's the part of his game that I hope Kenny and co. help him work on for I can't see him developing either as an enforcer or a playmaker.

Having said that, at 16 million, all you can really say is that he's been the best of a bad bunch of very expensive signings. >🙁 I'm not even sure why we even bought him when we had in Shelvey, a player of comparable talent, who would have done at least as much as Henderson has done had he have been given the same amount of playing time.

IMO for some reason, Kenny had plans on getting rid of Meireles in the beginning of the summer (for whatever reason) and had identified the need to have a younger long term replacement for him. Henderson may well turn out to be a decent player, but 16 million will always have been a wasteful expenditure when we had Shelvey around, and when midfield players of comparable/superior talent (Cabaye) who went for 1/4th the price to a lesser club in the same transfer window.

Jordan Henderson - What am I missing ?

He needs to bulk up. He looked like a youth player against City in that aspect.

I don't either see what he's about. A playmaker? Not so far. A box to box mid? No. A dm? No. A acm? No. An average, neat & tidy player? Yes.

Please enlighten me.
