John Henry's open letter to fans

If there's one statement that people should take notice of in this thread it's this.

Now that the 'truth' is all out in the open from John Henry himself, you are surely freed up to tell us about what the LFC executives have been up to in the background, allegedly 😉

The world is a circle without a beginning,
And nobody knows where it really ends.
Everything depends on where you
Are in the cirle that never begins.
Nobody knows where the circle ends.
(chorus)
La la la,
La la la la la la.

HENRY: We're in big trouble, Desmond, is there any hope of you praying for us?
TUTU: Ha ha ha ha!
LINDA: Are there any community-based projects I can smile at to distract attention from all this sadness?
TUTU: Ha ha ha ha!
HENRY: We're fiscally responsible and prudent.
TUTU: Ha ha ha ha!
HENRY: We have policies.
TUTU: Ha ha ha ha!
LINDA: And a mascot.
TUTU: Fucking hell, why didn't you say so? Let's get praying!!

Anyone with a bit of perspective knew this was going to be a work in progress. It's going to be months, not weeks, before we start to reap the benefits of the new philosophy.

Makes me laugh TBH - pre-season virtually everyone on here was in agreement about giving the team/manager time to come to terms with a new playing strategy, coaching staff and playing personnel, and that maybe around Xmas we would start to reap the benefits and recover lost ground .... instead it's PANIC TIME after 3 matches 🙄

I don't think many were saying it'd be okay to barely have any points and lose most of the matches, so until a few games are won and some points are on the board it's perfectly justifiable for fans to moan, weep and argue. I can't stand this mock god-like equanimity that is supposed to make blissful indifference appear like super maturity. If some can float on a little cloud of self-regarding calm, fine, but don't stoop down and stick your snouts into other people's distress.

Balls.

The trouble with signing up and coming players for peanuts within a disciplined wage structure is that as soon as they aren't up and coming and established as good players they are offski to the highest bidder. Human nature I'm afraid. Ergo you are never going to be form a successful stable team with this flawed ideology, and you will have a higher turnover of players always rebuilding the team. Unfortunately usually the team that pays the best has the best players and usually wins the league. It really is expecting too much to exceed midtable with this plan we are the new Villa - better get used to it.

Of course we needed to rid ourselves of alot of dross and get the wage bill under control but we are still getting fucked over in the transfer window - I mean £10 for Borini - really someones having a laugh. Allen at £15mil - looks like a really good acquisition but we paid far too much.

I also don't buy into this we're skint nonsense. Without the £49mil on the last accounts as a one off for stadium costs as well as sacking remuneration we would have made a profit. Add in an additional £30m for the new tv deals next year, additional £12m for the Warrior kit deal as well as other expected improvements in our commercial revenue and the £20m saving in the wage bill there is going to be ALOT of cash sloshing around somewhere. The question is what do the owners intend to do with it, chuck away their bluepint and rebuild the team with marquee signings ( and wages ) so we can compete, update Anfield, or take a nice little dividend.

Hang on though, I think the vast majority are ready to give the manager time, but if it seems that the situation at the club is not even how the manager wanted it, or even expected it to be then you can't really blame people for being worried. It is no slight on the manager or what he is trying to do, but rather concern that he is not being able to do what he wants to do.

WBA away, Man City and Arsenal. It's not like we have been playing bottom feeders or 'easy' matches. All of those were going to be tough matches and before the season started everyone on here recognised what a tough first 5 games we have and we'd struggle for points - however now it's happening everyone is wringing their hands and crying 'woe be me' Totally unexpected (the results and the reaction) wasn't it ..... errr no, it wasn't.

The team has played some excellent football and Allen is a fucking star, Sterling has been a revelation, Sahin and Assiadi are unfit and Pepe has started off poorly (and is certainly a case for real concern) and of course to state the blindingly obvious we are definitely short of a powerful striker (who could pretty much only replace Borini in the team anyway). So the fact we haven't started so well is hardly shocking but there are lots of positives too. Six months from now the nay-sayers can say "told you so' but until then they really ought to get some perspective.

This.

We had a freak game against WBA (man sent off, 2 pens and a wondergoal).. and we've played Arsenal and City at home. Even if we had won those games, you'd still have to judge Rodgers over a season. Or two.

Liverpool fans are said to be the best fans in the world. Backing the team on a big european match night, probably.. but outside of the stadium, I have to agree with Oncy, we're just like everyone else. Some right fickle reactionary cnuts.

Well TBH no-one on here actually knows what he was told, maybe Rodgers is just demonstrating his frustration at losing Dempsey for the sake of another £2M, maybe they gave him a figure to match before he could buy and he didn't, maybe FSG said fuck Fulham if they are going to make us pay more than anyone else.

We acquired some (on paper at least) excellent players for at worst the going rate and maybe they will eventually be seen as bargain bin prices. It may seem a little 'cut your nose off to spite your face' as far as Dempsey was concerned but at least the line has been drawn and it may send a powerful signal that we are not going to be bent over a barrel in the future.
The same people complaining over Dempsey or the lack of a striker (and yes I am one of them) are the same ones that were complaining we were fucked at this time last year. However if FSG are looking at his long term and prepared to suck it up in the short term .. well it's their club.

I am a little lex vexed than I was through JH's communication, at least there is an acceptance they dropped a massive bollock , although the magnitude has been understandably played down.
I think Oncey has it pretty spot on, although like JH misses the bleeding obvious, that Sunny reminds us of, we didn't just fail to increase our firepower, we actually conspired to reduce it, an it was that whuch is the main issue.
Had we done nothing on the final day I would have regarded is a success like JH does, but we didn't, we have left an already threadbare attack in a very precarious position.
The fact he has felt obliged to address this shows what a cock-up it was and exonerates normally placid people like me getting upset.
I still don't buy into the conspiracy stuff, and still have faith in them, but they need a really football savvy MD, based in the Club, and for all his commercial success I don't think Ayre is up to it, reading between the lines in this and Brendan's comments, I am more certain the finger is pointing his way.

regards

Oh, I do agree with that, but it seems pretty certain that Rodgers wanted to bring in at least one striker. Maybe the club did try all they could to get players in, and maybe they were right to pass on Dempsey, but my point is that when we have a manager publicly saying that we need more strikers, and we are very clearly struggling to score goals at the moment, then being concerned about the situation does not really translate as panic, or lack of faith in the manager.

If we only paid £10 fo Borini I'll forgive them everything. 😉

Ha ha indeed - havn't seen much evidence he's worth even that much yet. Time will tell

Abso-fuckin-lutely, ask for time ergo knee-jerk reactions.

Totally unexpected (the results and the reaction) wasn't it ..... errr no, it wasn't.

Errr, no, but not acceptable either. A perspective is fine - it's not wise to do without one entirely, either way, unless you plan to retire to a cloister. Once again: act like this if you wish, but don't act as if your supine fatalism is some kind of badge of honour.

This man^

He does not know what he's talking about.

You call it fatalism. That is however inaccurately surmised. I am just not that disenchanted with the performances so far that I throw my arms up and run around like a mad woman pissing as some are in this thread. That sort of agitated response reeks of media sensationalism. I believe there is progress and am excited by the performances of Allen and Sterling. A couple more transfer windows like this, and progress along the ideals Rodgers is seeking to instill, and we will have some team.

I'm looking round this thread where people are supposedly running "around like a mad woman pissing" and I don't see it sorry so I'm assuming you're being hyperbolic here for added effect.

Anwyay - onto the progress piece. I'm not seeing it yet. I'm seeing certain ideals as you say being instilled in the way were trying to play football and yes there's certainly some encouraging signs with regards some of the players - some bought, some inherited from past regimes. I don't think we're making progress yet but that's not going to happen overnight. There's little consistency in performances, we still appear short of goals and results are not going our way in the slightest. So we may not see progress for months but, you never know, we may see it far sooner. I really do hope so. The problem is the damage that occurs between now and when the point of progress begins. If it carries on it's current projected route it's going to be painful and impatience will creep in quickly. I heard lads talking in the pub post game about how "he'll be gone by Christmas". I mean, that's acting like a pissing mad woman but it's the environment football exists in now unfortunately. Too many pissed drenched geriatrics about.

A couple more transfer windows like this and we'll finally managed to have purged the squad completely of strikers and we can start fixing other areas of the team.
