John Henry's open letter to fans

Looking past the sarcasm, if this move is true, do you think they're panicking already?

They're implementing a plan they put in place in consultation with Rodgers when they hired him, so it's weird to describe it as panic.

If I was to pick anything that made it look like they were panicking it would have been the ease with which they changed their mind on needing a DOF.

I think the fuss over the last few days of the window is just moaning by people who don't see the bigger picture and the mess was caused more by the manager than anyone else - but since he had a whinge to the local journos afterwards we get to hear about all the nonsense from his side of it.

I've always hated self important egotistical football managers who stumble upon something that works once then spend the rest of their career trying to recreate their 'vision' and coming up with the lamest of excuses when it doesn't work, and it looks like Rodgers might be falling into that category.

ON TLW. The story went that FSG got furious with his 'leaks' about the Borini deal and hired an investigator to find out who his mole at the club was. Then Chen had dinner with him and revealed the 'dossier' they'd compiled and told him to behave himself. I thought it was a laughable rumour but some have started taking it seriously!

Chang. Not Chen.

Whats in the Dossier?

I very much doubt* that our club is run by small minded shitfists who'd be made to look really stupid by a fake twitter account.

@dinabass On the latest Bill Simmons podcast he's claiming that John Henry will sell the Red Sox and devote all his time to LFC this winter

Holy shit the Lizards are planning a full scale invasion!

On the contrary, I've heard they're buying a big brand sporting franchise on every continent, in perfect synchronisation. They must be planning simultaneous success. Or something.

Cynic, tsk.

I'll be listening to this at some point today (I've been listening to the podcast for three years at least), but I can almost guarantee it was said in jest.

It wasn't said in jest but it wasn't anything other than speculation that because of Henrys history of buying and selling assets that now is a good time to sell the Red Sox.

And they think he's much more focused on us.

I am hoping that is a good thing.
What do you think of him now Ross?
He seems to have floundered around for his first two years of ownership.
A bit of focus, leadership and vision wouldn't go amiss in my view

TBF they have now admitted that they made mistakes in those first couple of years, but I have more sympathy for them than you do because some of the things which haven't worked have happened as a result of them trusting the judgment of people on the ground here.

I am not unsympathetic JJ, more concerned at their level of competency.

I've said as much before. They're new to the sport so are trying to learn. The best way to do that is to put people around them who can help them, inevitably being new to it all, they're going to make wrong appointments and learn by their mistakes. Of course it's not ideal, but we were in the shit 2 years ago in a big way. They gave us money last year which we pissed away and now we've got to tighten the purse strings to try to get back on an even keel, I don't really see what the issue is, the only real problem I have is the whole DoF farce at the press conference.

As for Ross going on about Rodgers being an egotist and fucking things up, he wanted a player and didn't get him. I think he said as much himself that the problem was as much a communication one as anything. Oh, and we've played three games FFS. It doesn't matter who's in charge of the club, who's in charge of the team, or who our best players are, he'll always seek to take issue with them and brand them as flawed from the off. I don't think I've known a poster more cynical and myopic over our authoritative positions.

Yes they have admitted some mistakes. But these socalled mistakes were pretty obvious to people that know football better than John Henry? And sending the basic mistake (Andy Caroll 35 mill pound) out on loan with no replacement is a even bigger mistake! And that is even more obvious to people who know football.

I admire them for taking the stand to scale down the payroll and streamline the finances to meet a healthy future. Our wages can't run loose as it is not a sustainable way of running the business. But there is a big big difference in clearly weakening your squad and aiming for CL footie. CL footie will make us better aligned with the cost we have. And noone want to be a new Leeds that can't live from your income. But again you can't one minute aim for the CL with a statement that you have the resources to fight with anyone, and in the next reduce the quality of your squad significantly. Then you end up looking like you said ""the shuffle will be in the ground for the new stadium in 100 days" two years ago. Intergrity is important, and American owners happy to yap around about things they really don't know about is not a pretty sight.

I want the club to be financial helthy. And if it is crisis in the club with costs running loose, I want the management to adress it. But be open about it. Say that the main objective is to lower the wage budget instead of saying it is CL qualification. If David Moores did these things he would be taking a real kicking around here. And I don't want people new to the sport sepnding 4 years making mistakes to learn. Not at our club.

Your eagerness to vent your anti-Americanism at FSG at every opportunity is getting very boring indeed.

1. The decision to send Carroll on loan was probably taken or, if not, certainly approved by Rodgers. He didn't deny it when questioned about whether it would have happened if he'd known we wouldn't sign a replacement this summer.

2. The target of CL qualification was set when they gave the King a shedload of money. That's one of the main reasons why he's no longer our manager, and such a cash injection never going to be a regular occurrence in the future. They've made it quite clear that that criterion isn't what Rodgers will be judged by at the moment.

3. The spectacle of owners "yapping around" about things they don't really know about may not be a pretty sight, but what the flying f'ck has their nationality got to do with it?
