John Henry says Kenny Dalglish is not good enough for Liverpool FC

We were extremely lucky to win the Champions League and FA Cup under Rafa - is that what you said when we won those too?

Cut the shit - who cares HOW you win a trophy - whichever it is - it's a trophy. I would hope that was good enough for you, judging by that comment - I guess it's not. Chalk off most of Ged's trophies too! 🙁
generally i think the league position is the best way to tell how good a team are, and no i wouldnt say we were lucky to win those trophies under rafa, we put in far more effort in those games than we did against cardiff

"Put in more effort" ... Ok mate, I get it. Have a great day.

Oh.my.god.

ok that probably wasnt worded the best way, its early. but if you can see any connection in how we played in the champions league final and how we played against fucking cardiff then you've got kenny tinted glasses on

i agree with that to an extent, what would we be saying if we'd lost though?

But we didn't! What would have happened if Milan had scored a 4th? What would have happened if Cisse's goal in 2006 were ruled out like Crouch's or Crouch's wasn't ruled out.

Just a question but how many chances did we create and miss at Wembley? 30+? No effort there then.

It's cool mate -

I remember the 120 minutes of Istanbul, where we were dominated for 110 minutes or so. We put in a lot of effort there.
I remember the 120 minutes against West Ham, and how we were bloody lucky to come out of it despite Momo's 200km of running
I also remember the 120 minutes against Cardiff, where we dominated for most of the game without applying any effort obviously and struggled to break down a resolute championship team (as we did with Brum during Ged's rule).

I've defo got 'Kenny tinted glasses' ... as I said, I got it.

So basically, a season where we stagnate or struggle remotely will result in the manager being fired ... There we signs of progress in the season, and while it WAS disappointing, we won a cup and should have won two. That is progress - albeit minimal. I just hope Henry gets the next selection right, or we fucked. And I think you can see that too.

why should we have won 2 ?

we were extremely lucky to win the carling cup

Under the circumstances City was extremely lucky to win the title.... And had they not won it United would not have believed their luck winning it.... You think they feel it was down to luck?

I thought we should have beaten Chelsea ... But I have Kenny tinted specs on, so I'm most likely wrong! 🙂

you may be right , i agree they were there for the taking but you could argue the final was a perfect example of how we'd developed over the season . We'd lost the decent style we had at the start , the big money signings (in this case downing , henderson and to an extent enrique ) were poor , Kenny still didn't trust carroll to start him in a massive final , we were sluggish and put in a disgraceful effort until 2 down . Basically it was the story of our season , a missed opportunity .

I hate this bullshit. We were extremely lucky in ONE game to win the cup, we still beat good sides on the way. Just like we did in the FA Cup. We might not have turned up in the finals, but the overall contribution was excellent. We turned up for 6 minutes in Istanbul and then fought the rest of the game out. We picked a poor side and nearly blew it, but we also twatted some of Europe's finest along the way, it was a brilliant run and a fabulous campaign.

And no I'm not comparing the CL to the domestic cups, before some bellend pulls that one.

Finally getting my head around the fact Kenny is gone and my head says he will never have any type of role again with the club which is a shame..I adore Kenny one of my last heroes, grow up loving the man and that never changed and I firmly believe he deserved one more season.

Unfortunately Americans are ruthless in business and football is a business, I don`t think Kenny was ever part of their business plan for the club and he was only there to steady the ship after Woy. Unfortunately for the owners he over performed and had the team playing beautiful football and all us supporters dreaming again and there would have being open warfare if they didn’t offer him a permanent contract. I believe the owners did this without really believing in the manager but they supported him with the funds to develop the squad with the expectation that we would challenge for the Top 4.

This didn’t happen so in the eyes of the owners it was a failed season and in truth the league season was a disaster, and some of that is down to injuries and bad luck but this usually levels out over a season and Liverpool Fc shouldn’t be blaming the woodwork for poor results!!!

I always believe managers deserve two full seasons but the owners have made a decision and I just hope now that the clear out is complete they will implement their vision from CEO to Manager. I also feel the next manager will be given time as he will have been selected by the owners.

I`m upset to see Kenny go and his legacy is secure and I don’t understand why some fans are turning on the owners. Henry and Co saved the club from administration and deserve some respect, they are either going to try and restore us to the top table or have decided it is too much hassle competing against the likes of Man City and if that happens we will need to get used to mid table and the occasional cup run.

All we can now is thank Mr Daglish and trust Mr Henry

Nicely said mate.
That pretty much encapsulates what I was thinking and saves me the trouble of writing it down.
Cheers!

When are people going to realize.. tradition goes out the window in this day and age..

Today's game is all about money.. Football clubs are no longer football clubs anymore.. they are whacking great big business, so like any businesses if it is under performing you make changes to reflect that to make the business more sustainable in order to compete.

Liverpool football club has a legacy, history and tradition. Sometimes it is these values and doing things 'the liverpool way' is what is holding this club back..

Time and time again we have failed to move with the times.. The club at this point will have to splash the cash on high profile manager to make a whacking great statement of intent if they want to get where they belong, and this I believe is what will happen.. This club belongs amongst the elite, and this is where we need to be..

We need manager that players want to play for, therefore attracting players purely based on reputation and not the fact the club are not in the champions league..

A manager with experience of European football and playing in the top leagues.. carrying a huge reputation
A manager who knows how to handle the media..
A manager who can help raise the profile of the club to a level we have not seen for years..

And this is why John Henry is right here. Kenny was not the right man for Liverpool at this point to take the club forward..

If you don't agree with him, no problem ... but mocking someone who's mother tongue isn't English isn't necessary if that's what you're doing.

I was rather referring to the fact that it was a ranty mess, and as clear a case of verbal diarrhea as I've seen for a while. If I wanted to trawl the forum picking holes in people's English then I would probably start with the English people.

I'd like to say... Yes cup tournaments are more that 1 game, but ultimately to win them you need luck in just 1 game at a time. We deserved to get the final, but we were lucky to win the final... Meaning we were lucky to win the Cup.

No one us disrespectful our results in the build up... But in the final we were shite

I wouldn't mind Villa Boas if he was to bring in Jimmy Rodriguez from Porto

f the next manager doesnt better 8th and a carling cup in his first season im calling for his head and chanting "dalglish" at the match till i puke.

lets have some consistency here eh mr henry.
