How.... HOW... how on god's green earth did that fucking idiot, that fucking obnoxious retarded fucking no-mark, make it through life thinking he was a genius? I don't get it? SURELY somebody must have pointed out to him he is thick as fuck when he was growing up...it's almost admirable to see how self confident he is in the face of such massive personal deficiencies...

Indeed. I know Barton's now said he did it on purpose, but some of us find ourselves imitating the accents of those to whom they're speaking without even realising it. In my case I was trained for years to imitate those I was talking to, as I did a languages degree. I'm pretty sure this is what accounts for McClaren's Dutchy-type akshent.

I do it. It's not good when you realise you're doing it subconsciously.

When talking to a foreigner I try to tone down my accent as the Belfast accent isn't the easiest to understand. I don't think I've imitated their accent though.

It's often much easier for a foreigner to understand what you say by imitating the foreigner's accent/wording. I do it a lot to explain english words and sentences to Japanese people.
In Joey's case, I think it's quite obvious that he's simply a cunt.
