Aston Villa have agreed a £5 million fee with French Ligue 1 side Lyon for the transfer of midfielder Jean II Makoun.

However, Villa are yet to agree personal terms with the 27-year-old and if the deal goes through the Premier League side could have to pay an extra £2.5 million in add-ons.

Villa boss Gerard Houllier has spent the last 24 hours in France talking to his former club in a bid to complete his first major signing since taking over at Villa Park in September.

How much did Poulsen cost us?

4.5

There's no FUCKING point in using other football transfers as context for the Crapsen signing.

He's hardly even a footballer. ANY fucking transfer looks good compared to Crapsen.

"How much did Zlatan go for? Hahahahahaha, really????? Liverpool signed Christian Poulsen for £4.5m"

You may as well start using groceries or impulse purchases as examples.

"How much does a bag of potatoes go for? Hahahahahaha, really????? Liverpool signed Christian Poulsen for £4.5m"

"How much is a bag of crisps? Hahahahahaha, really????? Liverpool signed Christian Poulsen for £4.5m"

With a good accountant it's possible depending on what he get's off us, but there's no way on earth we're paying him £120k a week (before tax).

Rumours tonight about Taiwo for 4m and a weekend deal for Suarez at 15m odd.

Yes please

He's apparently on 90,000 grand a week whether thats before tax i don't know.
Yeah it will be, as the 50% tax band is in now, so we won't be giving him nearly 200k. We're still paying him way too much though obviously.

Ah well i think the 50% band kicks in at 150,000 so he's probably getting about 75,000

I'm putting my neck on the line (well not really) by saying the Suarez rumours are probably bullshit.

I'd love Taiwo for 4m though

Buddha - where are the rumours re Suarez from? A respected broadsheet or some lad down the pub?
Can't remember but think it was the Times/Telegraph?

It wasn't this but here's something..

Loads of tweets about Suarez. All I know is Liverpool have had him watched - a lot.

We spent 20mil on keane, it's always gonna be a gamble but I'd love to see him at our club

Liverpool lead race for Defour!

We're in for Taiwo...

Those are the kinds of signings we should be looking at. I've advocated signing Taiwo for a long time. He is a brute and a brilliant player.

Tawio plus one other big name would be an awesome start. Defour for the middle or Suarez up front.
