There is a direct quote from the HSV president in that article, and he can leave for 12,5 mill £.

Why do they want rid?

I wouldn't be too heartbroken that we didn't sign Barry. Still, I get what you mean.

Fact is, though, we're not going to be able to battle for that calibre of players you mentioned there anymore. It's going to be more Poulsen's and Jovanovic's. If we're lucky we might get another Lucas, and that isn't fucking good enough.

I'd have to question the mental health of any top player that would come here now, especially with interest from other clubs.
Why not.... he'd be keeping Lucas out of the team and it's unlikely we'd have spunked close to £20m on acquilani..

Mexes was linked today... I've wanted him since Houllier's reign... Probably because he had cool hair in Total Club Manager 2004 or 5..

A signing!

Dalglish lands Blackburn starlet

Published 23:00 12/01/11

New Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has gone back to old club Blackburn to make young striker Jason Banton the first signing of his second spell at Anfield.

Dalglish has snapped up the former England youth international after Rovers let him go because he was growing unsettled.

Banton joined Rovers from Arsenal - where he also became fed up at his lack of progress through the ranks - two years ago, and he had been pushing for a first-team squad slot at Ewood Park.

The 18-year-old is a tall, fast striker and was top scorer in Rovers' academy side in his first full season at the club but fell out with members of the coaching staff and was released.

However, the Londoner has now walked into Anfield, where he will get a deal until the end of the season - and the chance to impress Dalglish.

New Ajax coach Frank De Boer admitted in a conversation with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that he cannot rule out a move away from the Dutch club for their striker Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan international is reportedly unsettled in Holland after the departure of manager Martin Jol, and De Boer’s failure to rule out a departure has increased speculation about the 23 year old’s future. Such a statement could suggest that Ajax are encouraging both Liverpool and Tottenham to bid for the striker, and the Daily Mail reported this morning that the Reds could make the first move for the Uruguayan.

Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has vented his frustration at his club and indicated he would like to move on, with England a possible destination.

A move back to the Barclays Premier League would, most likely, be with Aston Villa and the 25-year-old would relish the chance to end his Serie A hell.

Luigi Del Neri has made it clear Sissoko is a reserve player or back up to Felipe Melo, which was not something Sissoko signed up for when he left former club Liverpool.

And former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier is an admirer of the Malian and is keen to bring his experience to Villa Park as he attempts to get Aston Villa out of their current slump.

Signed for Liverpool for £5 million in 2005, the Anfield club doubled their money three years later when they offloaded him to Juve.

His Liverpool career was dogged with injuries, although he holds the distinction of being the player that scored Liverpool’s 7000th league goal, and he would love to show the English fans what he can really do.

“You never know what you have. If you want to be sold, it will be on their terms,†Sissoko told Football365.fr.

“The directors wanted to sell me at the beginning of the year and sometimes they try to enter into agreements that I do not like.

“When competition is healthy, I do not have problems. But it is no longer the case.

†Del Neri will only pay attention to me when he needs me. Otherwise it is calculated. I do not want controversy, but I’m not a (commercial) good.

“If someone has disrespected, these are the leaders of Juve to me and vice versa. Accident? They know that they made a mistake with me and now they invent that I did not play against with Napoli because I refused to do so.

“But that is completely false. I did not play is because I have inflammation of the quadriceps and did not want to risk hurting myself.

“One day I’m sold, the next day I’m not. Melo gets three-match ban and I am no longeron the market.â€

Momo is still only 25??

Falling out with the manager

Just had an e-mail from my Spurs pal (who called the Joe Cole deal a few days before it was announced) that we've agreed a deal for Chamberlain. He says that Spurs expressed an interest but baulked at the negotiated price (around £7.5m + add-ons).

Not tied up yet as Arsenal also interested but haven't yet matched our offer either, but deal close.

*fingers crossed*

Sorry, but I am yet to be convinced that Chamberlain is a good deal for us.
He has only had twenty odd games for the Southampton first team and Saints fans even reckon he is only the second best young talent at the club.

On top of this, if we have a limited budget, I think it is far more pressing to spend money that will redress some of the current issues with the first team, rather than using it to buy a player who more than likely, similar to Wilson and Shelvey, will have to develop further before he is ready to have a positive effect on our first team.

We can't miss out on a talent the size of Theo and Bale. We just can't.
Five months ago after just two substitute first team appearences I doubt if he would have been valued at close to £1M.
So forgive me if I am cautious about now spending up to £10M of a limited transfer budget on the flavour of the month hot new talent.

Has anyone actually seen this kid play by the way and I don't mean in a five minute youtube clip? Pesam?
Christ that sounds like the shittest signing ever. Bombed out by two clubs with issues at 18 year old. Aye sounds like the kind of lionheart we need in our situation.

Agger to Fiorentina?

Fiorentina have made an offer for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger, according to a FIFA agent, but he is haggling over wages.
“The Viola have put forward a contract proposal to Agger, offering him €1.5m, but he wants €2m per season,†FIFA agent Bernardo Brovarone told Lady Radio in Florence.

“Now we have to wait and see what Liverpool say about it.â€

It is not the first time that Agger has been linked with a move this season.

The Danish defender arrived at Anfield in 2006, but is one of several players unsettled by the change in management.

Tottenham are also said to be interested, while there were links with Juventus and Inter.

"I still have three years on my contract but it's not me who decides if I'm playing," Agger told ESPN.co.uk before Roy Hodgson made way for Kenny Dalglish.

"But if I'm not playing and I'm not injured, I have no reason to be here. I'm 26 and I feel I can play regularly at this level at this club.

"So if I'm not going to play and be on the bench for a while, obviously I'm not interested in being here. Then I must see what options I have."

Hmmm, it's the Daily Fail though;

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain close to £5m move from Southampton to Arsenal
By Simon Jones

Manager Arsene Wenger has moved swiftly to head off interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United in the 17-year-old.

Hot property: Arsenal will move quickly to pounce for highly rated Oxlade-Chamberlain
Arsenal have a strong relationship with Southampton after signing Theo Walcott in 2006 and the Oxlade-Chamberlain transfer will be similar.

They paid £5m for Walcott with another £7m based on appearances and England caps.

Southampton are still negotiating but hope to achieve £10m for Oxlade-Chamberlain, with the player staying on loan for the rest of the season.

Trailblazer: Theo Wacott (right) left St Mary's for Arsenal in 2006
His father, former England winger Mark, has said his son can be even better than Walcott, having coached the England forward at Southampton.

Chamberlain said: ‘I’ve worked with both. As an all-round technical player Alex has more to offer.’

The attention of Liverpool director of football strategy Damien Comolli and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has made Arsenal act.

Can't we be linked with some grown up players. I'm sick of hearing about us signing all these bloody kids that we never see.

We've got the worst squad I've seen at Liverpool in my lifetime, and we're thinking about the future. We need to buy player who can come into the team NOW not in five flippin years.

No problem collecting the 75k a week when you're broken though,eh Danny?

Are Tottenham trying to assemble the most injury prone backline of all time?

We're apparently going to make a 31 million euro double swoop for Suarez and Emanuelson. Sounds horseshit.
