There’s some major Liverpool transfer news emerging today as Fabrizio Romano seems to believe something big is just around the corner at Anfield.
It’s been a difficult season for the Reds and it seems he’s now expecting the club to be active in the market to strengthen their struggling midfield in the coming days.
“I expect them to try for a new midfielder in the next few days,” Romano said to a fan during a live stream last night.
Going into more depth in a piece for CaughtOffside’s Substack, Romano added: “I want to start my afternoon update with Liverpool – it’s not an easy moment for them on the pitch, but I want to clarify that the club is still 100% behind Jurgen Klopp.
“They are protecting their manager, they are backing their manager, they are planning for the future and the present with him.
“Liverpool are also exploring the market for a new midfielder, so let’s see if they can find an opportunity this January or if they will wait until the summer to focus on Jude Bellingham.
“For sure, though, they are keeping an eye on the market until the end of the month.”
Some reports have linked Liverpool with Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, but Romano has suggested Chelsea might be the more likely destination.

“I’ve mentioned before that Chelsea have a concrete interest in Moises Caicedo,” he said.
“The Blues really like this player and Graham Potter knows him well from his time in charge of Brighton.
“Let’s see how they will decide to proceed after they spent a lot on Mykhaylo Mudryk. Still, Caicedo is a player they really appreciate and he’s one of the players on their list for the midfield after missing out on Enzo Fernandez.”

Salah allegedly meeting with the boss of PSG - that Quatari man after the brentford game.
Are we selling him? or Selling the club? Are they just mates?

I think it could be something along the lines of:

1) So tell me my brother - what is it like - the club, - Salah maybe trying to give the inside info on the club.

2) PSG guy - listen your contract is up in 2 years ? - Yes it is ? - well we have this fella named Mbappe that we own, he wants to go to Real Madrid - but we want to retain control of him. If we buy Liverpool, then we can loan him to Liverpool for a season, and you play with him. Then we sell to Liverpool and we buy you as part of the exchange ? - you will be 33 by then, maybe the slowness of Paris will be a good fit for you ? - Oui !!!

3) Worse case scenario - PSG Guy: - your team play shit against Brentford, if you don't make Champions League do you plan to stay ? - if not give us a call we need someone to replace Messi for next season.

Aren't Danilo and Joao Gomes two of the prospects that some of the more informed forumites have kept going on about?

Yeah, Danilo was heavily linked with Arsenal whereas we were linked with Gomes. €20m is pretty risk-free. 6.5 yrs contract - looks like the Chelsea style of avoiding FFP could be a trend.

Work permits are the biggest myth right after FFP.

Doesn't stop clubs doing fucking anything.

[article]From January 1, 2021, new rules come into place regarding the transfer of overseas players to the English Premier League and the English Football League (EFL).

These will replace existing work permit recommendation processes, as English clubs will not be able to sign players from the European Union (EU) in the same way they were able to before Brexit.

Clubs will now need to apply for a governing body endorsement for a work permit for pretty much any overseas player who doesn’t hold a British passport, so the requirements and processes have been changed.

The previous requirements, and the old points system, meant many clubs struggled to get work permits for players signed from outside the EU.

Some clubs would still sign African or South American players, for example, but they would often be sent out on loan for the entirety of their contract, before leaving the English club having failed to ever match the criteria needed to be granted a work permit. An example of this would be Allan Rodrigues de Souza at Liverpool.

If these rules and processes were kept for English football clubs post-Brexit, it would be very difficult to sign any overseas players, even those playing their football just across the English Channel in Europe.

So the entry requirements have been altered in order to make it easier than it might have been for English football clubs to sign overseas players post-Brexit.[/article]

With the easier work permit requirement, we will be left out if we don't explore S.A market options.

Southampton's Director of Football, for example, mentioned about the S.A. market a year ago (and they did just signed Carlos Alcaraz from Argentina):

[article]New rules will mean a points-based system being used to decide whether players can play in the UK with restrictions on free movement around Europe and, via transfer market experts, this could mean less European players being signed. In turn, this will leave open space for UK talent and players from countries like those in South America, where points-based systems will rate signings favourably in comparison.

Speaking in the Saints Fans’ Forum back in May, Saints Director of Football Operations Matt Crocker said:

“We have to stick to to the plan. There are certain regulations that are changing in the game that will open up different markets for us and we need to be sure that we cover those market off really, really well. Particularly things like South America might be a real opportunity now with Brexit changes and some of the regulations that are coming up.”

I do

I break the croissant into bit size morsals, and use the knife to add butter to each piece.

More importantly - whats in the black box?

If you can cut a croissant with a butter knife without it almost entirely disintegrating, then it's shit.

What’s the deal with Suarez now? he’s like this footballing soldier of fortune ticking off his bucket list countries to play in. It’s great that he’s not just doing the usual lame cash grab in the familiar places.

What a bunch of bums Bayern are!!!!!! Just buying a goalkeeper because they needed it. They should have waited till summer or even next winter transfer window for the "right" goalkeeper to be available.
That wouldn’t weaken an opponent, though, would it 🙂
