It's not Camavinga who went to Real for £30m. He is good, and will protect our back four.

No - I know who Camavinga is - but I also remember a Kone coming on for France - is he the same guy ? my minds in doubt as the picture looks different from the guy I remember from the WC final.

I don’t understand this “ditched their model” thing - Ward was instrumental in Nunez& Diaz signings and led the delegation to get Salah signed up.

What model is it that has been ditched and how have we signed they didn’t want?

Not signing older players, having alternatives and avoiding going toe to to with the moneybags; recall that we refused to engage in a bidding war with the chavs over Harvetz and Werner and got Jota instead who turned out to be better acquisition.

Diaz and Nunez are exactly the types of players they [would] pick from their models. My impression, from the long protracted negotiations , was that the recruitment team had already predicted the declines in the performances of Wijnaldum, Henderson and Salah (and likely Fabinho) or were against extending their contracts at those wage levels. I [think] they initially got their way when Wijnaldum left but Klopp was adamant that he needed the latter two and they got extended. If'n their advice is being ignore with obvious consequences, they may as well go where that is appreciated. Just my surmising.

Funny to say, but arsenal are after Bellingham as well. I've no doubt if they win the league they'll leapfrog us and get him

I guess the worst thing that could have happened for us was the World Cup, him coming to prominence and the likes of Saka performing well. I know everyone made a big deal of his relationship with Henderson, but he won't be around as a regular much longer and the likes of Foden, Saka and others are the future. The future is bright elsewhere, here the future is the old people's home.

Thanks, I get it now, my bad, but hey throw in Kone with a DM , I would be happy !!!

What's the use of monitoring when we don't move for them or only try to do so when they become out of reach (price/competition wise)? No wonder the guys from the recruitment department "lost interest" - all the hard work for nothing.

More lamps..

Tielemans was extremely impressive in Leicesters loss to Fulham tonight. Fantastic work rate, sublime passing and close to scoring a few goals.
With 6 months left on his contract there surely is a deal to be done there.
He’d slot right into the RCM position as well.

We'll probably let him go to Wolves then try and sign him for 30 million

No - he's just putting it on for one game so Liverpool will sign him. We won't fall for it.

According to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are closely following Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone.
The Merseyside giants have had a disappointing Premier League season. They are currently seventh in the table and face a big challenge to qualify for the Champions League. Their midfield has been a key area of concern but it does not look like they will address the concern in the current transfer window.
Instead, they could wait until the summer to spend big. As per Romano, Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham is the number one priority for manager Jurgen Klopp but Liverpool are also well informed over Kone’s situation. The 21-year-old is most likely to be sold by Gladbach at the end of the season.
Potential

Liverpool are prioritising the transfer of Bellingham from Dortmund in the summer but they could also enter the pursuit of Kone. The club currently have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita, who are in the last six months of their contracts and could leave on free transfers.
Bellingham would be a fantastic signing for Liverpool with his creativity presence from the centre of the park but the club could also sign Kone, who is a defensive midfielder. The youngster is strong with his tackling, distribution and has also impressed with his dribbling in the opposition half.
According to Transfermarkt, he is currently priced at £22 million. However, Gladbach will be aiming for a much higher transfer fee as they could be a bidding battle for his signature. Apart from Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Newcastle United are known to be admirers of Kone.

It is left to be seen whether they can sign both players in the summer transfer window. Liverpool may need Champions League football to land Bellingham or else he could be persuaded to move elsewhere. The club have plenty of work to do to finish in the top four this season.
They are already four points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who have a game in hand. Liverpool can also qualify for the premier European club competition by winning it this season but they face a huge hurdle in the form of Real Madrid in the round of 16 phase.

Just relax, we will sign midfielders but won’t be till summer this season.
We nearly unlocked cheat mode last season, and we nearly are safe from relegation this season.
This is the way, this is my Liverpool…
We will be back next season and at least have signed up already…

Newcastle starting to hoover up a lot of young talent - their recruitment policy has been pretty much spot on - lots of young potential signed, sprinkling of decent solid pros to get out of the relegation rut, followed by a couple of excellent players just starting to enter their prime.

Next stage is when they start chucking some serious amount of money at quality players.

Yeah, after all, they brought in Dan Ashworth from Brighton, continuing a similar pattern of picking up talents on low price.

Yeah - I expect they weren’t planning on getting Champions League football this season - but Howe has them over performing.

I wonder if a top 4 finish will escalate their buying plans.

Annoyingly they seem to have learned how to operate from City. They will be a force sooner than we thought.

Well let’s not swallow them whole whole cupping their balls in one hand and giving them a wee poke up the bum with the other, just yet….

… the big jump is from getting near the top 6 to actually challenging consistently for trophies domestically and in Europe - that’s we’re we find out if they’re buying the right players and Howe actually has it as a manager.

If we apply what Klopp said last to this window who can we actually sell that’ll bring in enough to make it worthwhile?

Kelleher 20m, Phillips 10m (or Gomez 20m), Jones 15m and maybe Morton 15m (depending on whether the dortmund links are nonsense). There’s maybe 50m there if the stars aligned and we’d probably only lose a handful of league and champions league appearances.

I don’t for a second think it could be done but I would let them go for a Caicedo for example.
