"It's complicated"? -- No it isn't, fuck off Barca - £113 Million bid rejected

The Watford game alone should show why we need to keep coutinho. Playing can, hendo and wijnaldum as our midfield 3 until lallana is back is a depressing thought.

How would coutinho have helped? We scored 3 and had it not been for a number of defensive fuck ups we would have won.

Obviously the issue is it's happening after the season has started and we are involved in a critical CL qualifying tie with Hoffenheim. It couldn't have come at a worse time. I don't think we should (and will be very surprised if we do) sell at this moment. Unless of course we get in 3 top targets before the end of the window which would actually give us a stronger side/squad (e.g. VVD, Seri and Keita) !

I would have thought, at this late stage, that it's a no-brainer for the Liverpool executives to stand by their announcement. They need to avoid disrupting the managers preparations and there is also inadequate time to find a replacement. They must put the club as a whole before an individual player.

I'd rather take the pragmatic approach like you have than make a decision based on sending a message to anyone.

I doubt at this stage there is a way for us to be better by selling Coutinho, if there is I'd sell him.

Agree to an extent, but would add that there's a longer-term aspect to "getting better" which would not be well served by creating the wrong impression now, and that taking this into account is pragmatic too.

His profit would pay for the new stand. These prices are so mental now. I mean have you seen that stand? It's seriously impressive. And massive. No queues for anything. Views are great. Increased the capacity by 10000. And this little fucker can cover the tab. Nuts.

Here's the full quote.

“If they (Barca) say they will bid whatever we don’t want it. It's a clear message,” Klopp said.

“We don’t want money, we want to invest in the team and have the best team because we have our aims and dreams.”

That hasn't changed what I said. He's saying we don't want it. We don't.

But that's not always the only factor, if Coutinho really wants to go, it won't matter what we want.

It doesn't matter what we say to the press, similar has been said about other players in the past, only for a transfer to happen a few days later. I won't believe he's not going until September 1st.

None of it matters as long as we continue with a shit keeper, a dodgy defence and no DM. We can score all the goals in the world but unless we stop conceding them we will win fuck all.

But there's also many examples in the past of players trying to force to get out but staying one more season. Suarez being a prime example.

If we genuinely don't, there's nothing Coutinho can do to force a move. He has a long contract with no release clause. What will he do? Down his tools? Suarez did the same in a much worse way, and we refused to sell despite Arsenal meeting his release clause.

We hold all the cards here if we're genuinely not interested in letting him go. Just like Leipzig held with Keita, and Southampton hold with van Dijk. There isn't any obligation to sell.

Generally, as Rosco always says, sales happen because the clubs want them to, and everything to the contrary is PR bullshit.

So if the sale happens, it'll probably because FSG (and Klopp) have been lying to us, and not because Coutinho has forced their hand.

I'd love to know the ins and outs of why he's still there, especially in a period where Utd have been less than competitive.

There is no obligation for us to sell.

I hate the fact we are going to lose another top player (even though I don't think he's reached the Suarez level; who was a bigger loss). But if we are to sell, we need to bleed Barca dry. £150m upfront. The whole world and their nans know Barca just received a £200m cash upfront windfall. If now is not the time to demand ridiculous money from them, I don't know when is. £150m, deadline 20th August. Any later and we want £200m (to cover the inevitable lack of CL football next year, without Phil and without cover).

Thanks for making me not have to type all that

Coutinho & Sturridge report to training at Melwood
Philippe Coutinho has arrived for training as normal at Melwood today.

He and Daniel Sturridge are continuing their recovery from injury having been left out of the squad for tonight’s clash with Hoffenheim.

Klopp admitted Sturridge was ‘very close’ to being involved but gave no update on the back injury that is keeping Coutinho sidelined.

The Brazilian handed in a transfer request in a bid to force a move to Barcelona on Friday.

Anyone else noticed the stories from Spain today, that Barca plans to unveil him come Thursday alongside Paulinho.

Liverpool and Barca have struck a deal, they claim.

Nothing will happen until the 23rd. If we're still in the CL then all will be good. If we're not, then we'll sell.

His agent?

There were reports claiming that last week. One even mentioned Andre Homes as a makeweight.

Well I'm back from a weeks camping in the wilderness. No tinter klacker meant that I've been out of the loop. (Props to @Brizzle for the text updates 🙂) So then he's still here. I was certain he'd stay but now I think he's nailed to go - I'm guessing this is the general consensus by the crew of the good ship 6CM's? . What a fucking bummer. Cunt had to pull that shite the weekend of opening day and today. It's only the most important match in Europe for years! FFS

[article]After we won the Bundesliga in 2011, I got a text from my agent:

“Hey Nuri, Real Madrid wants you.”

It’s kind of funny that it just happened like that. Through a text. It wasn’t like you imagine when you’re a kid.

I had heard my name mentioned in transfer rumors before, but never with Real Madrid. And now, here they were. The white kits, the Bernabéu, the history. And I remembered the promise that I’d made to myself all those years ago. There was a part of me that wanted to say no. Dortmund had given me so much — how could I leave them? It was hard to think about. I lost sleep. I talked for hours with my wife and family. But I had to speak with Dortmund’s manager, Jürgen Klopp, before I could decide. I will remember our conversation forever.

“Nuri, it is your choice,” he told me. “But if you leave, you must know, I will always be on your side. You are my friend forever.”

“If I stay,” I said, “I will think about life in Madrid. I will be in Dortmund physically, but mentally … I’ll be lost. I couldn’t live like that.” And I told him that I only had one life to live — that I didn’t want to regret any part of it.

Jürgen understood, and he told me to follow my heart.

A few hours later, I announced my decision. My wife, who was four months pregnant, moved with me to Madrid. We had to start over, sort of. I spoke Spanish, but we had to figure out being pregnant in a foreign country. And then I got hurt in my first training session with Madrid — life in Spain did not get off to a great start.[/article]

Difference is, the Sahin-Madrid deal was done in May.

that's lovely, nuri. why did you fuck klopp off and come to us instead then?

Clearly, that Sahin reference is Klopp saying this is fuck all to do with me and there's fuck all I can do about it. The upside for us is that he says he's been there before and moved on.
