"It's complicated"? -- No it isn't, fuck off Barca - £113 Million bid rejected

100%. I'd rather Coutinho, but if he goes, Asensio has amazing potential and Isco ran the show v United
I wouldn't keep a player who doesn't want to be here. Isco and Asensio will either be too expensive and not want to come to Liverpool as they see their future at Real Madrid

FFT have learned from sources close to the midfielder that he has already told Jurgen Klopp he wants the move to Barcelona to go through. Liverpool’s worst nightmare has finally become very real.

(FFT = Four Four Two)

Ffs why cant he just go after the World Cup.

If you say you wanted to stay then stay.... 1 season then go.

Its not like we dont have CL football etc.

Can we stop posting the bs from espn and four four two etc , it's no better than the shite the twitter itks spout

Didn't Peter Moore just give an interview were he underlined that he had nothing to do With the sport side of Things, as we had perfectly capable People to do that. But when we announce some shirt sleeve deal we drag in those people for press Conference?
He has nothing to do with transfers but are you telling me the CEO has no part to play in the sale or no sale of an asset valued over £100m?

Yeah , sure

Liverpool transfer news: Barcelona send journalist e-mail for Philippe Coutinho unveiling

BARCELONA have sent an e-mail to a BT Sport journalist to prepare for the unveiling of Philippe Coutinho.

The Spanish giants have flown in representatives to seal a £120million deal for the Liverpool star - despite the club refusing to sell.

But it appears there are already plans in place to unveil him on Friday.

BT Sport journalist Andy May tweeted today: “Already getting emails from Barcelona offering television coverage of @Phil_Coutinho Barca presentation this Friday #keen.”

The delegation of three Barca officials - Oscar Grau, Raul Sanllehi and Javier Bordas - are seeking talks with the Anfield hierarchy.

But Liverpool say they are wasting their time no matter how much they are prepared to pay for the Brazilian playmaker.

Philippe Coutinho could replace Neymar at Barcelona
Liverpool have already rejected a bid of £72m for their star player. But the Catalans are refusing to take no for an answer, especially after the world record £199m sale of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain last week.

Barca are understood to be ready to offer a deal worth up to £120m for Coutinho, who is keen on a move to the Nou Camp. Manager Jurgen Klopp held talks with the 25-year-old last month after the Reds rejected Barca's initial bid.

But although he is keen, Coutinho does not want to rock the Anfield boat by handing in a transfer request.

Coutinho signed a new five-year deal in January which, crucially, does not include a release clause.

That means Liverpool will not be forced to sell their star man, as Barcelona were with their Brazilian forward Neymar.

The decision rests in the hands of Fenway Sports Group, the club's owners.

Has everyone forgotten how we staged Torres' exit ?
Funny you should say that as that whole saga and the similarities with the current Coutinho one came to me earlier this morning

Look, I hope he stays, but am I the only one who thinks he's being criminally overvalued here (even in todays market)?

I mean, yeah, he's a wonderful player, with spells of pure class, but his performances vary a lot and he's mostly looked world class for Brazil. The main worry obv is how we manage to replace him, because let's be honest, we seem to kinda suck on the market these days, but I am still a bit surprised by the amount Barca seems willing to offer us for his services.

I'll be gutted when/if he's out, but by no means like I were when Suarez or even Torres left, as we seemed much more reliant on them than we do Coutinho.

Maybe it's just me..

What are the similarities? I can't really remember the Torres saga except it seemed to be over pretty quickly.
The constant denials by the Liverpool leaning media that he was going despite strong reports to the contrary in other parts of the media.
We all seem to agree that Southampton are somewhat trying to stage manage the departure of Van Dijk via the media to curry favour with their fans and so we have to think that it is possible that us Liverpool fans are also been played.
I hope not and I believe that he will stay but I wouldn't put a substantial amount of cash on it

Yeah its just you. The guy is hugely talented and will be our playmaker this season. I think his game will go up another level this season.

Every player is overvalued in today's market but, by the admittedly loony standards of that market, I don't think Coutinho is "criminally overvalued" at all. You're right about the difficulty of replacing him, but that in itself adds to his value to us. So does the risk of being typecast as a selling club, a risk we'll run if we let him go now.

I was more reffering to the irony that the business guys neding a Sport person to hold a press conference on Commercial issues.

That isn't the reason why I think Southampton have created a furore around van Dijk, which I believe has far more to do with the money they want to get for him.

It's possible in theory that we've been played, but in practice I don't see it. The Torres comparison doesn't work for me because he was presented, rightly or wrongly, as the villain of the piece whereas the opposite is true with Coutinho now, and I can't see how that would fit in with an attempt to hoodwink the fans.

Dortmund have apparently said dembele will cost £135m

They got him for £15m last year !

But this time the only reports regarding a transfer seem to come from the Catalan press and unreliable sources.
The Catalan press are known for this sort of publications and stories.

Unless it gets reported by more reliable sources, there arent many similarities with Torres.

How are what Barca doing not 'tapping up'? Can we at least pull a Soton and embarrass them? Or is that not allowed?

I used to have a sweet spot for that club ... but they can truly go fuck themselves.

In terms of simply the market yes he is probably being overvalued, but he's our most important player which adds a lot more value if he is to be sold. If you compare it to Siggurdson, he's a very good player and could be the difference between Swansea staying up or going down and that's why such a big price is being quoted for him (50 mil). Coutinho could end up being the difference between top 4 and not, or attracting other good players so that heavily inflates his price should other clubs want to buy him.

I am waiting for the president of La Liga to come out and slam Barcelona for their efforts to unsettle PL by hunting their most valuable player With Money that doesn't represent FFP. He will probably ask UEFA to get on their backs every minute now.

Even IF we were going to sell him, would we be silly enough to do it so that Barca could unveil him on the day before our league campaign begins?

On second thoughts don't answer that.

And the stories about how he forced a move at the end of the window.

We now know that he wanted to move for months and we had been negotiating with Chelsea for weeks before the deal was done. In the meantime we were busy finishing off deals to unveil.

I think the Liverpool led media have been very strongly saying that Klopp and the owners don't want to sell and that Coutinho is not going to push through a move.
However, and it is all conjecture if they are in the business of selling then it would be very easy to use that same media to point the finger at Coutinho and say that he has changed his mind, demanded the move, downed tool, etc and suddenly he, like Torres, becomes the villain of the piece.
In the same vein as Southampton are doing with Van Dijk. They are making him out to be the villain, refusing to train etc and so suddenly making it more palatable for the fans when he eventually goes.
Look, as I said it is all conjecture and I am not sold on the idea that this is actually what is happening or going to happen but I certainly can't in my mind rule it out because for me, it does have a certain resonance with the Torres transfer and I doubt I am the only one thinking that
