"It's complicated"? -- No it isn't, fuck off Barca - £113 Million bid rejected

Barcelona ramp up Philippe Coutinho pursuit as Catalan chiefs arrive in England to seal deal for Liverpool star

Barcelona's pursuit of Philippe Coutinho was stepped up on Tuesday morning when club directors arrived in England in an attempt to close the deal so the player can make his debut against Real Madrid on Sunday.
Oscar Grau, Raul Sanllehi and Javier Bordas hope to return to Barcelona on Tuesday night with the deal done and believe they are now pushing against an open door with Liverpool having accepted that Coutinho wants to leave.
Barcelona had an opening offer for £72m turned down two weeks ago by Liverpool and a second offer closer to £80m also failed to convince.

But they believe a third bid – along with the player having already communicated to Jurgen Klopp that he would like to be given the chance to make the move – will make the transfer happen.
The Catalan giants sold Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain for a world record £198m fee last week and have discussed upping their offer for Coutinho to £100m .
Coutinho is attracted by a move to Barcelona but will not force through a transfer because he would prefer an amicable exit from Liverpool.

Coutinho will not force through a move because he wants an amicable exit from Liverpool
Liverpool manager Klopp is adamant that Coutinho will not be sold this summer and has become irritated by continued questions surrounding the midfielder's future.
Earlier this month, Klopp hit out at the suggestion that Barcelona officials would come and discuss a move for Coutinho telling a reporter: 'Don't waste your energy.
'In this moment it's about transfers and I've nothing to say. I cannot talk about this just because a Barcelona guy starts talking.
'Did he say they come to Liverpool and do business? Something like this? They want to come over? They are funny. I don't want things like this.'

Coutinho has scored 34 goals and provided 29 assists for Liverpool since joining back in 2013

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has repeatedly insisted that Coutinho is not for sale
If the move is completed he will become Liverpool’s new record sale, breaking the £75m mark they paid for Luis Suarez. The Brazilian will join Suarez if he moves to the Camp Nou.
Coutinho has scored 34 goals and provided 29 assists for Liverpool since joining in 2013 but former Barcelona coach Cesar Luis Menotti has warned the club’s supporters against believing he will be the new Neymar.
Menotti wrote in his column for Diario Sport: ‘It’s good that Barcelona fans realise he is not the new Neymar, just a good player who has proved his worth at Liverpool.’
Barcelona have been quiet in the transfer window this summer with the £30million purchase of defender Nelson Semedo from Benfica and the deal to buy back Gerard Deulofeu the only major arrivals at the Nou Camp so far.

For some reason i still don't even remotely believe he is going. I believe Barca really want him and that he wants to go. But i can't see Klopp authorising his sale considering how already weak we are in midfield.
All bullshit according Ballbag

The article above references a second failed bid, whereas many - incl. the Echo, I believe - have said no second bid was received and no contact since the first bid.

I think Barca have been told 'not for sale' and they won't be back in for him this summer. It's just the press (esp. Spanish!) putting 2 and £200m together.

How can the media unsettle him ?

We already know he wants to go, we just won't sell at the moment,

Probably by insinuating that Liverpool are being unreasonable by repeatedly rejecting large bids for him.

It's odd the way Barca apparently believe that a second bid, plus the fact Coutinho wants to play for them, will be enough to make us sell when we have stated we don't want to.

If that were true then we'd have VVD & Keita on our books. The fact that we don't means it's painfully obvious that we don't actually have to sell.

I'm not 100% he wants to go - and if he does, he's not 'sold' on it like Suarez was ...
Meh - maybe it's that juvenile naiveté I still hold onto

He's south american....of course he wants to go. But do believe he is happy here as well.

However - our owners are probably stupid enough to give in and sanction a sale.

Suarez wife had her entire family there. It was somewhat understandable. I wouldnt have done the same thing cause I'm a fan but for South Americans Real and Barca are the shit.

I guess we've spent ages being told his best bud Neymar wanted him at Barca, so now Neymar has moved on that angle feels less likely. Naive, like you say.

I still don't think he'll move though, club seems to have stood firm. I can't say I'd feel as positive about it if we'd have bought Keita mind.

It's a question of when, not if he goes.

Normally, I'd not care that much - but I don't think we have much chance of landing a decent enough replacement.

So, if he goes, it is indeed a big fucking problem for us.

This is his Stevie to Chelsea moment ... we get through this and he will be with us for another 10 years, leading the reds to an era of league & European domination. In two years time you will see the top young talents at the Nou Camp pushing for their dream move to Anfield.

Hahaha. If we get through this he'll be with us for approx another 10 months...

Weren't there stories in the press a couple months back about Liverpool only entertaining a world record fee for Coutinho?

£200m+ please Barcelona.

If he does stay it wouldn't shock me if he gets a new contract paying him more til next summer when he eventually goes.

Except his agent is clearly going to know exactly what has been rejected or not.

Unsettling a player via the media seems to be another one of FM's enduring football myths. Up there with the windfalls from jersey sales for signing player X

How would the agent know? I mean the club doesn't have to tell them anything.
Unless Barca are having talks directly with the agent in some back alley or something.

Of course Barca are in touch with his agent. Do you know who his agent is ?

Sick to death with this. He signed a new deal only earlier this year, which only was activated a month ago, and after signing that he said that it was proof of his happiness at the club and his determination to stay for years and become a legend, so there's no basis for him to now declare he's unhappy here and in need of a new challenge. The club has progressed, and it's in the Champions League, and it's actively looking to strengthen the squad, so the Torres-style excuse about lack of ambition isn't there either. The club needs to shut this down - it should have done so earlier - and Coutinho needs to get on with the season. This is not what a squad needs with only days left before the season starts.

Southampton fans are saying exactly the same about VVD
