well done to him if he has. the point remains, I very much doubt he will have such an unproductive season again, his career stats show that he is clearly better than he is currently displaying

there was a profit made in rafa's last 3 transfer windows, the new owners have spent 30 net in 3 transfer windows. one set of owners weren't allowing the money made by the club to be reinvested in the playing staff and one set of owners clearly are.
From the outside that might be the way it looks.

well we're certainly balancing the books now. we can be happen that whilst we are disappearing into mediocrity our accounts are now in order.
No other top club is likely to buy our flops. Most could move on to a villa or stoke for between half and a third of what we paid. We need to spend the same amount again on the same positions but buy well. we need a 35m striker, 20m winger, 12m midfielder, 7m left back and 20m right midfielder.

Selling right now means realizing a lot of losses.
I think we should just decide that we basically massively overspent on improving our squad, and totally overhaul what awful decisionmaking process ended up in that travesty, and try to buy some goals in our 1st team.
I expect players like Kuyt and Maxi to go, rather than any of the new purchases.

I expect one of our new signings to go. I imagine it could be Adam.
I'm happy enough for all our signings to stay. And that we go out and buy at least attacking threat in the Suarez/Torres/Gerrard class.
I doubt we could afford to do that though, so we may have to sell one of our more saleable talents which we wouldn't miss too much. How much would we get for Johnson?

I fear no ready made top class signings will arrive in the summer as we look a club in decline.
a double winning season may change their minds as would astronomical wages.
We have been a club in decline for the past 20 years(with the occasional amazing cup run to put us on the map) and we've made some great signings in that time. We're lucky that we're a big name club, as a lot of players respect.
And anyway, other clubs outside the top four, sign great players.
