I'm in no way shape or form a heskey fan but england patenly play better when he is in the side. stop going on about his strike rate the most important thing is how the TEAM performs and how much the likes of rooney and gerrard play off him. who gives a FUCK if the out and out striker gets a brace in a game you've lost.
I'm so glad cappello is in charge he understands this unlike the utterly clueless pundits.

It's exactly what I was thinking, but then Heskey goes and fluffs two one and ones and it's really difficult not to be embarrassed for the guy. He definitely does help us maintain possession and win back balls high up the pitch, but his confidence infront of goal is non-existent.

obviously heskey isn't absolved of scoring goals but his PRIMARY job is to hold up the ball and win possession high up the pitch, goals are a bonus.
'oh, defoe would have scored that', 'oh, defoe would have scored that'...
england had two of the most prolific scorers for england EVER in shearer and owen and where did it get them? no where. play the team that has balance, play the team that has results don't fill it with the best individuals. a talented team will always beat a team of talented individuals.
having said that it's a pity heskey isn't more prolific
