lol @ the goalie
Raises hand in desperation haha

FIFA rankings are a crock of shit. Croatia are 9th in the world having been spanked home and away by England. Doesn't make us world beaters but fucking hell, 9th?

Well, that was easy, wasn't it?

The commentators did their best to make it a miserable viewing experience though with the regular Johnson targeting.

Many said that he is prone to defensive lapses - everyone knows that there is that part of his game. But on the whole, he's been very good for England recently. Why try and make him out to be some sort of weak link that will bring about the downfall the team? It's ridiculous.

That was pretty impressive. England barely broke a sweat and won by four goals against one of the better teams in Europe. Croatia's tactics were maybe naive, but England kept the ball well and were clinical in front of goal.

I'm happy we're gonna be there. Just hope we can play better than we did at the last WC Finals.

I think this is because NI's thread of hope is dangling by San 'one goal' Marino getting some sort of result against Slovenia. A bit like the Andorra v Russia match for you English fans during the Euro 2008 qualifers.

Or you could have TS, which is quite plausible.

Touché

Not surprising. They spent the last 15 minutes hoofing the ball to Messi and Lavezzi. They look all over the place.

They're in the playoff position at the moment with two games to go. They should win their next game against Peru at home, but their final game is against Uruguay away who are one point behind them.

Are Argentina in serious danger of not qualifying?
It is a bit of a tight rope in SA at the moment.
Ecuador is in 4th place with 23 points, Argentina in 5th place(playoff spot) with 22 points and Uruguay is on 21 points. Uruguay and Ecuador play next. Thats going to be a huge game. In the final game ecuador play chile ( who are on 27) and Argentina play Uruguay.
So couple of big big games left.
The playoff spot team plays a team from the CONCACAF - which is a potential banana skin. There are four teams in CONCACAF who are now neck to neck to get the automatic qualifying spot and all of them are playing well.

Italy beating Bulgaria 2-0 has effectively ensured Ireland will finish 2nd in the group.

Cannavaro got booked tonight too, so he's suspendered for the game at Croke Park now.

Argentina v Uruguay in Montevideo .... should be one cracking match given the history of the fixture!!!

Surely Maradona's position has become untenable now?

He needs to go.
I think Maradona's more of a talisman than Manager though?

It's going to take a brave man to sack Maradona, he is Argentina.

Those players should be good enough to sort it out themselves, irrespective of who their manager is.
Nah, they have wonderful attacking talent, but if the tactics are all wrong and the balance of the team isn't right, it's just not going to work.

He deployed Guttiuerez as a left wing back in a bit of a game I saw. 3 at the back at times too. Keni is right, there is no balance in the team. Shame to see them go out. Hope they qualify.
