Don’t we get some sort of payout from international injuries? We’re slowly paying for Mbappe

The national associations have to cover the wages of players injured on international duty until they’re fit to play again. I think there are central insurance policies to cover this.
Clubs also get compensation from FIFA / UEFA for players’ participation in the World Cup and Euros (think it’s only for the actual tournaments, not qualifiers).

Is that capped? Must be...
Seems like a non workable policy for the top 10 earners even if FIFA delegates are flushed with Rolexes.

It will be. I’d expect a cap somewhere around a year’s wages for a high, but not very top earner, and the old policy only used to cover basic wages / image rights. Obviously the very top guys get a lot of their money from endorsements outside their club earnings, so they’d probably still get a lot of that even when injured.

I watched the 2nd half of that game with San Marino, and honestly, most pub sides would dominate them. Their defenders were 5ft7. This was nothing more than a training game at best.

The play-offs are a 12-team mini-tournament from which the final three European places will be awarded. They will feature the 10 qualifying group runners-up and two teams based on Nations League rankings.

The 12 teams will be seeded and split into three pots of four, each of which will stage their own (one-legged) semi-finals and a final on March 24 and 29 respectively. The winners of the three finals will advance to Qatar.

The draw for these matches will take place on November 26. Scotland already know they will be seeded, meaning a home semi-final. Italy, Poland, Portugal and Sweden are among the other teams heading to the play-offs.

Here's hoping for :

Portugal vs Poland (hoping for away win)
Scotland vs North Macedonia (chance of home win)
Italy vs. Czech Rep. (hoping for away win though not going to happen, Italy will win regardless of who they are playing)
Russia vs Ukraine (hoping for fireworks, and an away win)
Sweden vs Austria (either is fine)
Wales vs. Turkey (chance of home win)

Just a dead leg for Origi, will be fine for the Arsenal game. That one place on the bench sorted at least.

Don't think FIFA would allow Russia to be drawn against Ukraine, they seed us in the groups separately.

Virgil hardly broke a sweat against Norway. He just bossed it and controlled everything. A few times our players just turned away and played the ball backwards instead of trying a one on one against him. No doubt that is why we arent going to a championship for the upteenth time..

We'll make the Euros though. I hope.
