I just want Norway to qualify for a championship again. Its been 21 fucking long years since the last time.
But the question is, do you want your team to qualify for a World Cup at Qatar?
The Norwegian players were sporting Human rights t-shirts yesterday prior to the game, and that was a great touch I have to say.

Kinda tempted to go to Qatar to see how good or bad it is. For all the french freedom the games in the euros there were fucking shite and controlled Atmos anyway

Had most European federations banded together and boycotted the World cup a few years ago they would have definitely moved it, but it's too late now. Qatar has spent tons of money building the infrastructure and the stadiums to be able to host the world cup. I think they'd be able to take FIFA to court if something changes now.
It would be cool though if they just send their u19 team or something.
However, for some this is the last chance to play in the world cup. This will most certainly be the last world cup where we see the Ronaldo and Messi, if they qualify.
Even Zlatan is talking about playing in the world cup.

For me the issue isn't the schedule, because us Europeans have been catered to for a long time regarding the World cup schedule.
Yes, the big European leagues play between Aug - May, but I guess for once it'll suit leagues in countries who play during the summer.

Norway will never be better than Sweden in football. You might have one or two players...but it's not gonna happen. Just like hockey.

Move over Celtic and Rangers, Galatasarai and Fenerbahce, it’s the hot-blooded scando rivalry time!

FWIW I think the difference between the teams is not so great that a genuine superstar like Haaland couldn’t lift Norway above their neighbors for some period of time. Once Zlatan retires, Sweden probably won’t have anyone comparable for a while. Sorry, @Modo.

Check out Jordan Larsson (Henrik's son), Alexander Isak, Jens Cajuste and Dejan Kulusevic. That's our future.
Also, we made it to the Euro's without Zlatan. He was just recently included.

Looking at the northern teams, I think Sweden will advance furthest in the Euro's, then maybe Denmark. I don't think Norway is going to do better than us.
Oh wait, they're not in the Euro's. LOL.

Fuck, even Finland are in.

We were coached by a Swede, so go figure why we arent in...

In all seriousness, the golden generation now is on a completley other level, and the Euros was to soon for them.
We also have Solbakken as manager, who had fantastic results with FC Copenhagen.

The future is bright. One of our teams were close to getting into the QF of the Europa League this season aswell.

Jarstein (Keeper, who doesn't count for some reason) - 192 cm tall.
Nyland also a keeper - 192 cm
Ajer (CB) - 198 cm
Strandberg (defender) - 189 cm
Thorstvedt (son of the old Spurs keeper) - 189 cm
Thorsby (midfielder) - 189 cm
Sander Berge (midf) - 195 cm
Joshua King - 189 cm
Sörloth - 194 cm
Håland - 194 cm
Johnsen 196 cm

And he tells me that they're not a gang of fucking giants?!

Can't blame you about that, Lagerbäck is a boring manager. It's pretty much like Hodgson managing the national team.

I like Kulusevski, there is something about Swedish-Balkan footballers...

Don’t forget that Norway will have Odegaard supplying ammunition to Haaland probably for many years to come. That’s not a bad combo and could be enough to get rather far in international football if both are fit and in form.

Cant believe you made me spend time on this but fuck it;

First mistake:
A goalkeeper doesnt count because guess what the average height of a goalkeeper is? 6'3 in the Premier leauge, and 6'2 for the rest of the World.
Why should something that is a given be used as an argument to prove a point?

Second mistake:
Joshua King is 184 cm and Johnsen (196 cm) isnt on the international team. Just called up in emergency this time cause Sørloth and Haaland werent allowed to travel last week.
If I want to prove a point about height in Sweden, I can probably find someone with a few caps over 6'3 just to add them to the argument.
FWIW Thorsby is 186 cm, and doesnt play either.

Third mistake:
The average height of our starting eleven against Gibraltar: 183 cm

Some numbers regarding average height in football
The average height of all footballers in the leagues surveyed is 182.1 cm. In total, only 67 clubs out of 572 (11.7%) fielded players on average shorter than 180cm.

In other words, some fucking team of giants we fielded. Its actually about the same average as the Spurs team in the league today.
And even if you add Ajer and Berge into the mix, other players go out. Like Thorstvedt and Strandberg.

Cant believe I spent time on this, but thats what being stuck in home office does to you.

*Mic drop

Just turned on Norway-Turkey at half-time. Norway team doesn’t look particularly tall; they do look slow and shit, however. Turkey leading 2:0, but I missed the goals. Why is Kabak not playing?

Jota is starting for Portugal alongside Ronaldo. Could be an interesting watch against a decent Serbia team.

I was really looking forward to the Czech v Belgium game because Czech have improved hugely over the last 2 years and I thought might cause a big surprise. They still might but unfortunately they are missing 3 key players; Kral (who is the usual CM partner for Soucek), Darida (the captain and midfield general) and now Patrik Schick (the top scorer). It will be a good test for Czech but not sure they have the strength in depth to cover for 3 such important players.
