Insua Agent Confirms Roma Talks
The agent of Liverpool left-back Emliano Insua has held talks with Roma regarding a possible transfer, but insists there are no significant developments to report. Insua spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, and was expected to join the Turkish outfit on a permanent basis this summer. However, a move did not materialise and he has since returned to his parent club where he has impressed in pre-season training and friendlies. But with Aly Cissokho’s arrival believed to be imminent, Insua could find first team opportunities hard to come by at Anfield next term so it is in his best interests to leave the door open for potential suitors. Italy looks the most likely destination should the Argentine move on, and Roma are in the market for a new left-back after former Red John-Arne Riise departed for Fulham earlier this month. Insua’s agent, Rodrigo Vilarino, confirmed that he has held preliminary talks with the Seria A outfit, but admits there will be no developments until Liverpool’s stance is known. “I spoke to Sabatini about him, but at the moment there are no particular developments,” he said. “Emiliano has returned to Liverpool after the loan spell at Galatasaray. Now we have to see if he is in the English club’s plans.” As it stands, though, Insua will remain with the Reds as they continue their pre-season preparations and, judging by one of his recent tweets, he is more than happy to do so. “I am feeling Liverpool player again!!! Really happy!” the 23-year-old tweeted.

Don't quite know what to say about this. I was relieved when someone took him on loan last season, but he looked in much better shape (against admittedly not tremendously strong opponents) yesterday than he had before. Still, I trust the King to make the right decision.

We should keep him for a couple of weeks to allow Downing to build his confidence up and then flog him on to anyone who'll take him.

I'd keep him. We're hardly blessed in that position

Sell sell sell. Buy a new left back.

He's average. Let's not allow an above average 45 minutes against inferior opposition cloud judgement. He's last on the list of left backs at the club. We need an experienced one to come so bye bye Insua.

I'd keep him too. He doesn't have long to go on his contract and at worse we can release him in a season or two. If we bring in a new left back we'll be stuck with another cunt for the next five years.

And whats more, you know how when you look over our squad you split it up into players you are happy with, and players than make you vomit in your mouth. Well that latter category has grown so out of control, I think insua has actually been pushed into the happy category as there's no room for him in the vomit one anymore

i'd probably sell him because he's got no future at the club since 17 year old jack robinson is pretty much as good and nearly 5 years younger.

i think the obvious solution to the LB position would be to bring in a quality stop gap, someone 30+ we could get on the cheap, because we've got robinson and also brad smith, who's another very promising young LB, who just need 2-3 years to grow into the first team. and stretching things a bit, but there's also that o'hanlon lad we just signed who's so hyped - the 'next gareth bale' apparently. so i don't see the point in spending big: if we can get away with a £2m quality stop gap then so much the better.

not sure who exactly that player is, but there must be a few suitable candidates out there. riise wouldn't have been a million miles away, though, although i've not seen how he'd been getting on at roma. but you get the general idea.

I have no problem with Flanno and Robbo as third choice fullbacks.
No questions regarding the defensive part of their game, but how much do they contribute going forward. The modern game kinda demands it.
That's why I rate Kelly more than both of them atm.
