Injuries Update...

Johnson - Skrtel - Coates - Enrique

Should be our back line until Agger returns.

I can't see Wisdom or Flanno (who has had some very poor games for the 1st team) being used as a FB so the only change when Agger returns would be a straight swop for Coates.
Pleased to see Borini isn't badly injured, regardless of what some people think of him his movement is great and we do actually need him !

Enrique is worse than famine at the moment. I'd rather play downing there ffs

Another kick in the balls, yestersday was the best we've seen from Kelly in ages too. He had a stormer.

Anyone think Henderson could do a job at right back? I'm no fan but the lad can run all day long so he'd be fit to get up and down the right hand side.
Defo worth trying in certain games imo.

Martin Kelly is likely to be out of action for a significant period of time after scans revealed he suffered an ACL rupture of his right knee during the match against Manchester United on Sunday.
The England international will now require ACL reconstruction.
Meanwhile, fellow defender Daniel Agger, who was stretchered off the pitch 13 minutes before Kelly limped out of action, has suffered a significant bone bruise to the left knee.
No ligament damage was sustained but further tests will be carried out before it can be established when he will be able to return to training.

To add to Brendan Rodgers' woes, Fabio Borini has considerable swelling to the inner aspect of his right ankle though no fracture was detected on the X-ray.

The club's medical staff will wait for the swelling to reduce before an MRI scan can take place tomorrow to assess any soft tissue damage and determine when he may be able to return to playing.

from the offal - So what does ACL reconstruction entail? Are we looking at losing him for the rest of the season?

Not a bad idea.

Typically, a graft from the hamstring is taken and then put through holes drilled through the femur and tibia closest to the knee. It acts as an ACL stand-in. This was the most common reconstructive procedure when I had both knees done, and as far as I know, still is.

Elite athletes in otherwise peak condition usually spend a minimum of six months from reconstructive surgery before they are ready to return to professional competition. That's how long the grafted ligament takes to completely fuse with the bones, with manageable risk of snapping if pressure is applied.

Most people take 9-12 months to return.

Nope. Being able to run up and down the line is one thing, being able to position yourself appropriately whilst defending is another - and more crucial matter. Something about Hendo makes me thing he'd struggle there.

Glen Johnson also has that problem(one of many).

It's obviously not ideal but with Stoke and Reading at home to come then i think it's worth trying as i'm sure we'll dominant possession hence he'll not be tested too much(well hopefully).

I see your point mate, but let's look at this on a scale of 1-10. 10 being perfect defensive right-back.

Glenjo's probably about a 6. Gary Neville, Steve Finnan, Markus Babbel, Lee Dixon are your 9's and 10's.

Jordan Henderson is a 0, and you're underestimating how hard it is to get better. It took Ashley Cole about 5 years.
