Now here's a link to be excited about...

#LFC are monitoring Athletic Bilbao’s forward Iñaki Williams, #LFC have scouted 21-year-old in recent weeks *The Guardian*

Watch this lot...

He looks quick a skillful but doesnt seem to strike the ball all that cleanly which always worries me with an attacking player

Echo confirming we've scouted him. He can play on the wing aswell. Fastest player in La Liga this season.

I love how the video says his weakness is balance

..then he proceeds to score multiple goals involving all sorts of balancing destroying spins and turns

If the Benteke to West Ham thing goes through then maybe, otherwise I can't see us spending this much on a young attacker.

It would be daft to buy another highly rated striker that needs time to develop when we already have 2 (ings +Origi). If we sign another striker we should be looking at a genuine superstar.

So that's Williams, Caulker, Matip and Gotze out as far as you're concerned. Fucking hell Glen have you anything good to say about anyone?
Nah I took back the matip one after reading what ruikbird said. I did also admit to never having seen him play and just went what I went off youtube.

Caulker I've seen live many times and I've issues with a player that has failed at so many clubs.

Goetze looks nothing like the player he was.

But I've been very complimentary about praet and sane as they look quality, and was very happy when we signed firmino.

Usually the "weakness" on Scoutnation is a euphemism for something else. By "balance" they probably mean "dives a lot."

I dont think either Ings or Origi have the same level of potential as this kid though, besides Ings will be 24 by next season so hes in a different phase of his career. Hes more the finished article than a work in progress.

Hit footwork looks a bit clumsy at times but hes very quick, skillful and has very good awareness of other players around him, he could go on to be a really good player.

He can also play on both wings and as a forward. We need that in the squad.
At the moment Ibe is our only winger.

Whereas even though I have nothing much to Base it on, but I think origi will be a monster player in 2-3 years time. He's got power, pace, runs the channels and works hard for the team. I think he will be better than Williams.

I think Origi is hard to call, he struggled when he first got here but that happens with a lot of players. He seems to have the making of a very good player if he keeps working hard and learning from the coaches around him, buts hes not the sort of player you look at and think 'yeah that kids gonna be a star'. I dont think hes a natural finisher but then I dont think Henry was either some players learn to be cool in front of goal others never pick it up. Williams strikes me as being far more skillful and creative, the sort of player who can create his own chances, whether he goes on to be better is difficult to predict but he can do things Origi cant.

He is exactly what I want us to get. I've never heard of him and never seen him play but he's boss. Probably.

I also like how he sounds Japanese/Welsh, has African parents and is Spanish except he's Basque really. A wonderful example of multiculturalism that I'm sure we can all get behind.

[article]With 10 goals already this season, Iñaki’s star is on the rise, and his outstanding performances in the rojiblanco of Bilbao’s Club Athletic have not gone unnoticed in the Premier League. His physical presence and high-energy game looks the perfect fit for England’s demanding game and Liverpool and Manchester City are said to be courting the idea of an offer.

Added to Inaki’s goalscoring exploits is the fact that the canterano has now spent months in negotiations for a new contract with his current club and a deal for a renewal hasn’t emerged, talks stalled between the club and the player’s representatives over a salary hike.

His current contract ends in 2017 and with a buy-out clause of just 20 million euro, it’s an appealing investment for cash-rich British clubs on the hunt for fresh talent around Europe, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to the fore.

Williams currently earns around 200,000 euro a-year and the Basques are looking to raise his clause to €50 million, making him the most valuable asset in the team, prompting the player's desire for remuneration that corresponds to that evaluation.

Born in Bilbao to a Ghanaian father and a Liberian mother, Williams has signalled that he wishes to remain at San Mamés: “I hope all this can be sorted out, the club is making a huge effort so that he can stay”, said Ernesto Valverde, current Athletic manager.[/article]

All we need to know to get behind this is :

Which Tayto does he prefer?

What are his thoughts on Adele?

Does he like Dan Brown novels?

This has a similar feeling to the Diego Costa story ... we tried to sign an up n' coming La Liga stud ... He used it to get a better contract, next year Chelsea.

WOOOO FUCKING HOOO

[article]Manchester City are taking a keen interest in Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams.

The quick-fire 21-year-old has scored 10 goals in 21 games this season, mainly as a winger, and that has prompted attention from Real Madrid and Atletico plus Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, Everton and Leicester.

City though are also up to speed and sent European scout Rob Newman plus head of recruitment Gary Worthington to Athletic's Copa del Rey match against Villarreal last Wednesday. Williams scored the only goal of the game.

They also went again on Sunday night to see Athletic lose heavily to Barcelona at the Camp Nou. Williams ran tirelessly for his side, who were down to ten men after just four minutes, and he was taken off after 56 minutes.

Athletic have offered the Bilbao academy graduate a new long-term contract on £15,000 a week after tax but they are struggling to agree terms with his agent Felix Tainta and he has a release clause set at £15.3million.[/article]
