Who would have thought. Last day and we could win it. I know we won't but this is Amazing

Nobody would have thought this possible.

I'll be traveling back from visiting mum tomorrow so radio 5 for me.

We've done amazingly regardless.

37 years ago was the last time City and Liverpool fought it out for the title in the last game of the season.
We won with 1 point....

It's mother's day here, it will be Mrs. Athens' first mother's day, on the final day of THIS season...

Still, I should get to see the match.

we really should acknowledge and enjoy this , that here we are on the last day of the season we can still win it . You would have kicked your granny in her minge at the start of the season to be in this position . Yet here we are and there isn't even a pre match thread , everyone is already talking about the summer .
Now don't get me wrong , second is usually for losers but not this season.

I'm actually a bit more optimistic today. I think it all depends on whether West Ham can stay level with City at half-time or even better, for 60 minutes.

If they succeed in that, they can, ironically, get the City fans' help in finishing the job. The home fans will get nervy and fear that their team concedes a goal off a sucker punch. Misplaced City passes will be met with increasing groans or howls of disappointment and some bollocking as well. Every corner or free kick, however scarce, that West Ham earns, will turn the fans into nervous wrecks. The tension will be sky-high, and the fans will be busy chewing their finger nails or peering in-between their fingers instead of singing and cheering in support.

We've experienced that before at Anfield, even just during a regular league game when the stakes weren't so high. Take that, increase it a few fold.

And the nerves will get to some players, even if they've experienced a similar atmosphere and game 2 seasons before in a decider. It's hard to stop the adrenalin flow and doubt once they've started. You try to slow the game down, keep better possession, stretch the field of play - but screw a goal kick, miscontrol the ball with a heavy touch, or concede a needless foul and the nerves will start flowing back in again.

Fear that you could be labeled a choker the next day will start to creep in. Tempers will start to flare, fans will appear to turn on you, eyes will start to dart around but eye contact will start getting avoided as players start dodging blame for a poor pass or shoddy marking.

We just need West Ham to (at least) hold City for 45 to 60 minutes. And then, we'll see how it goes. If it's not to be, then it won' t happen for us. We can only hope.

Either way, we've had a brilliant season anyway. Brilliant... as fuck. 🙂

Im just gonna enjoy it and if the dice rolls our way then great but if not we have still had a fantastic season and exceeded any reasonable expectation. I dont think City will panic for the simple reason that pretty much the same side did this 2 years ago and dug themselves out of a bigger hole to win the trophy with the last kick of the game. Id love them to implode and throw it away but Ive resigned myself to the fact that it wont happen, we need to get the 3 points to finish about Chelsea though

i want to finish on a high though , none of this shite where we lose and finish behind mourinho's scum .

What a difference a year makes. That we are all disappointed to be finishing second shows how our expectations have changed. I'll be celebrating Mother's Day somewhere. I'll check my phone at about 12:35 EST, the last 10 mins.

jaysus ..she must be some mother if she's more important than football 🙂

Ha, it's been very confusing for my kids these past few weeks watching me extreme emotions. My 7 year old is baffled, and she's all liverpool now so dad will be happy. I normally don't have it on in the living room, watch it on the iPad... But yeah, can you imagine if Mother's Day was second to a football match, mind you she's getting her hair done, so maybe...

i don't know anymore , men with feelings and being family responsible . What if we actually win it and you're off having mothers day lunch ?

I think most thought we would be from 10 games out.

Going to be a bitterly disappointing day unless something truly bizarre happens

5% chance I reckon.

Yeah, we can be whiny bitches cos we all started to truly believe (I think after the city game everyone was on board), but that's not the way to look at it.

At the start of the season, fuck, at the end of December, we'd have agreed for guaranteed top 3 finish on the last day of the season with the tiniest chance of winning the league.

I reckon 5%, as I said, before the start of the season I had faith, I always do cos that's what being a fan is, but if I had to stick a number on it it'd have been 1% or 2%.

This is a fucking incredible day, to cap off an incredible season no matter the outcome.

So just enjoy it.
