Is off to Birmingham on loan

He's been wasted sitting on our bench. I'm not convinced the rule about having a certain amount of locally produced players on the bench is actually benefiting the players most of the time.

Yes, I guess a few games on the bench is good for experience but Ibe really needs a run of games now. A terrific prospect.

Great move for him if he gets first team football.
I hope he sets the championship on fire with his skill and pace.

I just hope Clarke is there for a while. They've just sacked McDermott and Fazackerley from his coaching staff. It's lousy luck but we seem to see good loan moves go bad due to these kinds of changes.

Why is Clark rated ?

They're 18th in the Championship. And Huddersfield didn't get promoted until he got sacked

I have to completely disagree with Hansern's assertion that Clark is a good manager. As you allude to Ross, he did a shite job with a good team at huddersfield and they only thrived and got promoted after he left. It amazed me that having been deemed a failure at Huddersfield he got a job in the league above! He's been awful at Birmingham and the vast majority of fans don't rate him but somehow, despite some terrible performances over the last 2 seasons, he's still in a job.

Thanks - I don't pretend to watch the lower divisions but I didn't think it made sense

He's a young manager that did quite a good job at Huddersfield imho. Birmingham are in a mess financially and they finished 12th last season which isnt bad for a club with absolutly no money and under very difficult circumstances.

I've read earlier that he's good with young players and gives them a chance. Acadamy players from his own club and loanees from Premier League clubs.
Thats why I think its a good move for Ibe. He'll hopefully get loads of game time and that Clark can at least be some support while he's there. Maybe results arent positive from Clark but I think he's doing quite a decent job nontheless.

I think he's rated cos they haven't gone into league 2 yet but they've got no money
But he showed when he was manager of Huddersfield, and spent more than any other manager, that he is no better when he has money to spend. There are 7 or 8 other teams in the Championship who also rely on freebies and loan deals and admittedly they also struggle but Birmingham are a much bigger club than Yeovil, Donny, Charlton etc and can attract much better loan players so should be doing better.

With the squad Birmingham have and their ability to attract good young loanees and freebies they should not be struggling to avoid relegation for the 2nd consecutive season.

Listen to one of his after-match interviews, he comes across as rather clueless.

Bartley said he liked Clark’s manner in dealing with younger players trying to make their way in the game.

“To be honest, his man-management is fantastic.

“His door is always open and he chats to absolutely everyone.

“He is very welcoming, if you have got any problems or you need a favour or any advice.

“He is absolutely great with that.”

Anyhoo, debating wheter or not Clark is a good manager is a bit beside the point tbh. The important thing is Ibe getting much needed game time 🙂

Probably completely jinxing the young fellow but I expect him to absolutely tear up the Championship. He's a brilliant young player.

They've got no money cos they're paying the fucking big zig 80k a week, what a deal that was. Think he signed a 5yr deal with a 20% a year payrise, no wonder he doesn't want to leave.

Great move for the lad especially since we only playing for our Premiership position now,I know Moses hasn't set the LFC world alight but with 12 games to play we now look to have a good squad till the end of the season and if Ibe plays 10 games from now till the end of the season it will be game time that he would not have gotten if he stayed.

One for the future who hasn't cost £30mill.

And a fantastic attitude, too. I hope now, maybe in the space he leaves, Jerome Sinclair can also catch the eye. He's another very good prospect, quite versatile as well as quick and crafty. He tended to play deeper and help make Ibe shine in the reserves, which unfortunately tended to make him look less dangerous than his teammate, but he was quietly helping the team and making some clever runs to create space for Ibe to exploit. I'm not sure what role he'll eventually play and if he'll have a role in the senior squad, but he's a classy attacking player who deserves to be watched during the rest of the season.

He's just back from injury isn't he? He'll probably have to shift up to play a bit at the U-21s first I suppose. With the clear out of the strikers at that level, and Yesil injured, there's no better opportunity than now I guess for him to move up. Bijev is the only available U-21 striker now I think? Or are we going to shift Dunn again and push him up to lead the line?

Oh, we play Stoke U-21s in an hour's time. Hopefully I can manage to stay up and catch it and see for myself who we're playing up front.

Yes, back from injury, just getting his confidence back.

[article=http://www.bcfc.com/news/article/20140221-lee-clark-on-jordon-ibe-1374782.aspx#KOYD4gM65MUrx3qx.99]Birmingham City manager Lee Clark has expressed his delight at the loan capture of winger Jordon Ibe from Liverpool.

The England U19 joins until the end of the season on a youth loan having impressed in the Reds' youth ranks in recent seasons.

Commenting on the arrival of the 18-year-old, Clark told bcfc.com: "I'm absolutely delighted. I've been chasing him for a long time. Liverpool initially didn't want to let him out because he's been part of their first-team 18 over the last few weeks and months and he's rated extremely highly by them having just signed a new long-term deal.

"Jordon's a player I've known for a long time going back to when he started his career at Wycombe before Liverpool took him to their club. I've been in conversation with Brendan Rodgers for a few weeks trying to negotiate getting Jordon to come to us and thankfully we got it over the line. There was lots of other clubs in for him as you can imagine with him being a highly talented young player and we're delighted he's decided to join us.

"He's very quick and very strong for a young boy. He's predominantly a wide man on either side, comfortable on the left or the right, and he likes to attack opponents. I just felt we needed another one of those players to change those games that are a bit tight in our favour.

"Certainly in the home games when we've needed a bit more guile and something to change it in our favour, Jordon possesses that. What we've got to temper that with is that he's still extremely young but we believe that we've got ourselves a fantastically-talented player."[/article]

On bench for today's game vs Blackpool

Birmingham boss Lee Clark:
On loan signing Jordon Ibe from Liverpool: "Not bad is he? Not bad. Power, pace.
"We've done unbelievable to get him, I've got to thank (Liverpool manager) Brendan Rodgers. I've pestered him to get him.
"There were so many other clubs in for him.
"So hopefully this reputation I've got where I can do not-too-bad things with these big clubs' young players is helping us get the edge over some of my rivals, in terms of trying to help them on in their development.
"I'm so excited by him."

Make sure you start him in the remaining games then.

Probably not the right thread for this, the video is more about Robinsons sending off

Looks like Robinson is still prone to doing that risky sliding tackle, though I do have some sympathy for him there. He had to make that tackle, and probably took a bullet for the other chap (the no. 5 guy), who would probably have had to do it otherwise, to prevent a 1-v-1 or 2-v-1 situation.

That is his third red card though. We have our wee little Sergio Ramos.
