Ian Wright

Ian Wright will be fronting Football Behind Bars, a Sky1 documentary

Ian Wright came to professional football relatively late. Despite having had trials at Southend United and Brighton during his teens, he was unable to attract sufficient interest to win a professional contract offer. Reverting to playing for amateur and non-league teams, he was left disillusioned about his chances of a career as a professional footballer, and looked set to pursue a job as a full-time plasterer.

Wright also served 14 days in Chelmsford Prison for driving without tax and insurance.[1]

He's not on my Christmas card list either, but in the interests of balance I ought to say that I had a Cockney union rep once who knew the guy slightly from London days and said he does a lot of charity work behind the scenes.

He got the boot from the BBC for being shite, and he tried to claim it was 'racist'. Or because he didn't wear a tie. He didn't seem sure. He's hopeless. Last night he was on ITV. Why do they keep hiring the tit? His adopted son's playing, so, even if he was articulate and insightful, it's not as though he's likely to be unbiased. He was defending his mate Ashley Cole yesterday. He's just ghastly.

I still find it depressing that the only reason the place I live ever gets mentioned in the news is because of the bloody prison.

To be fair in this regard that tosser who was fucking Jade Goody put Chelmsford on the map.

Chelmsford man burns his latest copy of What's on in Chelmsford in protest against free papers being delivered in non-biodegradable orange plastic bags.

Ha, on the advert, "the only thing that kept him from returning (to prison), was football".

He drove an uninsured car for fucks sake. Big wow.

He was on Top Gear talking about it and was actually quite funny.

It was his first time he'd be caught without any insurance or a licence, more like his forth or fifth.

He now advertises The S*n.

I like Ian Wright, he isnt the sharpest tool in the box i grant you but he is enthusiastic and seems like a sound fella.... no problem with him. Considering the shit pundits that do exist he certainly isnt the most annoying.

As the anger about this paper extends beyond those who are Reds, and as there is an eagerness to see non-Reds in positions of influence heighten awareness of Liverpool people's anger at the paper, I'm not sure what your point is. Sarcasm? For what purpose? Are you one of these fans who buy it? Do you have a hat?

I like him, he makes me laugh.

I wish he didn't advertise the S*n.

I don't buy it.

Why don't you produce a show for lfctv on the subject ?

As a TV/radio presenter he is embarrassingly bad, as a footballer he was superb and Arsenal fans were so fortunate to go from watching Ian Wright to Thierry Henry - 15 years of great goals between them.
